I AM PERPLEXED WITH THE SUBS

Simon Jordan has perfectly summed up our situation.
He's said when you bring in a manager you do so believing he can improve the players and the club.
Boehlys Chelsea is the first club ever to be be bringing in new players hoping they can improve the manager.
And once you start desperately hoping the manager will improve rather than believing in him he simply has to go.

We read all these comments on the next two games decide his job, but as noted above, is that really enough to save him?  Have we seen enough to suggest he is the right man to take this club forward?
I have serious doubts.  Even if we get some wins, the figure he cuts on the sideline or in press conferences does not carry enough assertiveness or confidence to foster a trophy winning mentality.  Beyond that, is he demonstrating player development - massive questions.

Question yes, but to question to the point you sack him seems very over the top. We watch football and understand it a lot more than Boehly so when we are questioning TT's tactics for example I'm sure there is more of basis for critique than Boehly. A man known for his 443 ofc TT wouldn't be willing to take anything he had to say seriously. He probably snapped at him and got sacked

I like pretty much all of those toughts, I worry none of them quite add up in the current situation. 
Boehly can't change his plan because of angry fans: I agree completely. I believe Boehly should change his plan because it's a bad plan. 
We've been needing a culture change in the club for a long time: This is a contentious issue among fans, but I for one agree. Cultivating stability, trust in the manager and scepticism towards dressing room power could very much benefit our squad. I also believe that Potter has a very suitable character for these objective. But sadly his level-headedness is all his level-headedness is all he has to offer at this point. Stability and charisma/authority/innovation are not mutually exclusive, other clubs have managed to hold on to characters like Pep, Klopp or Arteta for many years. Since we currently have the least capable manager in our club's history, it's not the perfect but the worst possible time to favour stability. For me it goes stable quality > fluctuating quality > stable lack of quality
If Boehly is convinced, we should back him: This is where you lose me entirely. As a fan I will back anyone who does good work for my club. 

You're completely right. The only scenario in which letting Potter see out the season makes any sense is if it's considerably cheaper to sack him the very day the season ends. But that's only gonna be the case if there's a very specific clause in his contract for this exact scenario. Otherwise his compensation would only be marginally lower than now, based on the slightly reduced remaining contract duration, a difference easily outdone by the wages saved on an interim manager. With the exception of financial matters that we cannot assess, our team desperately needs an interim manager on every single level right now. 

Agree totally. Whether there were extenuating circumstances behind the scenes or not the actions of Boehly in those early days in handling TT, the back room staff and the media relations after thrusting himself into the limelight were, dare i say it, shocking. In a country where the press and national pastime seems to be revelling in the plight of others especially when they are hoisted by tehior own petard it seemed tat that time, and still does, naive in the extreme, unnecessary and setting a mark by which we and he is now measured.
We appear to have become a caricature of a club.

If they were not that visible to the average fan then how do you know the reason why TT got sacked. Maybe because Todd Boehly has suddenly become best mates with Simon Jordan having probably never heard of him before joining Chelsea. All there is is supposition and rumour and as you said the average fan has no idea the reasons why these things happen

That means Potter's problems have a direct link to the nature of his job, he does work in a result-oriented environment after all. At any given time a manager might have those kinds of problems but when it comes to Potter, he has had 99% of the time 99 out of 100 problems that are related to performances and results.
If there ever was an award for the best candidate for sacking, Potter would be the winner of 2023.

Okay, so Potter gets all these excuses but Tuchel gets none of them despite having it far worse? Potter even had the nuts to complain about having to play midweek after we lost to Southampton while Tuchel had to endure the worst schedule in all of Europe last season. Predictably one of the very few teams who never got a much needed Covid-break on top of everything else.
Won 8 out of his last 15 league games btw, hardly shocking compared to what we are going through these days is it?

It's easy to criticize the likes of Tuchel, Conte and Jose, because we all have certain expectations from them and they have a certain standard. If they dont win a trophy or get into top 4, they deserve GTFO.  Here came this new manager hand picked by the owner ( who probably didn't know what offside is 6 months ago) , got paid at the same level if not more than any of the top tier managers, yet could get away with any poor results and performance, because it's some kind of long term planning. The standard that's in place at Chelsea for almost 2 decades has gone in about 6 months. Now we are being told it's part of a process, and only 4 or 5 more years to come. Let's face it, 60M or whatever is nothing to Boehly, he could easily write it off, maybe he even has a clause there to get rid of the manager on the cheap. He hasn't, because it's so painful to admit he's wrong on this. Wait for pre-season, let's see how he sells the mid table team to the US fans, and try to get an Amazon TV deal for a team not challenging anything

I'm sorry to say this, really...... Graham Potter doesn't inspire anything in anyone. Yes he's a nice chap and all that but most people tend to nod off when he starts talking. Out of all the new managers we've had over the last 20 years he is the only one I imediately thought wouldn't be up to the job. Yeah he had a bit of run at Brighton but nothing spectacular. I've tried to give him a break but I see no chance at all of him ever being able to take command of a dressing room full of international stars. 
I'm abroad at the moment and glad of it too. I get the feeling the crowd is starting to turn. If that's true (and it may not be) I think the board will change thier mind. They've already seen there's a problem and this is evidenced by the engagement of a sport psychologist.  A booing crowd will have a devastating impact on the young players. Pretty soon the season will be over and the players won't have anything to play for. Will Clearlake just let Todd spend another £300 m in the summer? I can't see it. He's going to be under pressure to turn things around and he may just be on the lookout for a scapegoat.  
 

TT didn't have a preseason and took over a struggling team halfway through the 2020-21 season. He had been on the job for four months when we reached FA Cup final and won the CL, all that without signing a single player. The following season after signing just Lukaku (granted, a big mistake) and having just as bad a list of injuries as this Potter's squad, Tuchel proceeded to win Super Cup, Club World Cup, reached two domestic cup finals and finished third in the league. All that despite Lukaku disaster, ridiculous list of injuries, the busiest schedule of any club across Europe and all the hell the team went though due to sanctions, forced ownership change etc.
Tuchel made his share of mistakes and there must have been serious reasons behind the scenes for sacking him, but I just wanted to demonstrate that if you have what it rakes to deliver at the highest level, you succeed at times even when the odds aren't in your favour. But when you're not cut out for this, you can have all the help in the world and you'll still fail and there'll be a ready made list of excuses to justify your failings.

We scored 3 goals in January and 1 in February, so we are definitely seeing signs of improvement. 
I just dont understand why people get so angry so fast. If we give Potter pre-session training with the team, maybe we will score 4 goals in September.  Points don't matter that much, we are not children anymore, we are above that. The signs are out there, so we should chill up.

You’re using terminology to demean his abilities / prejudice the argument in your favour. “Press-resistant” isn’t particularly evocative.  If we substitute for “press-resistant” “exceptional close control”, “phenomenal ball skills” it changes the perception a bit. As for “body feigns[sic]”, ok - you’re doing it again.  What if you just used the word “skill” instead?. “Body feigns[sic]” are pretty handy for dribbling halfway up the pitch and beating four or five players - something he’s better at than arguably any midfielder in our history. He produced one such feint (aka sublime piece of skill) before setting up Lukaku with a through ball of real quality (which apparently he’s incapable of).
 
You may prioritise other attributes in players. You don’t have to like him. But come on - credit where it’s due.

The market for top strikers is extremely competitive, just look at how Real Madrid bent over backwards for Mbappe and he still chose PSG. I can't think of any top class striker that would want to play under Potter and Boehly when he has serious managers at other big clubs to pick from. And guys like Thomas Frank won't change that, only coaches with a reputation.

And when you are negotiating sponsorship you need to present value and what value do we bring if we are stuck in 10th and out of the CL for multiple seasons?
We have far less TV coverage which is key to most sponsorship far less big matches on the continent and manager that would make watching paint dry more engaging than talking to him, so overall we provide less value at this point in time and less ability to negotiate strongly in any sponsorship.
I say all this as someone who worked for a company that sponsored a premier league team in London. Details matter exposure matter the value I will get back as a company matters. Said company provided telecommunications for two premier league teams in London. 

There's a big difference between a below average patch of form under Tuchel and the sh*t Potter's served up. To be honest, it's time to stop the Tuchel comparisons, and start the Ian Porterfield comparisons instead.

Very strange to suggest the players didn't perform under Tuchel given what they achieved with him but the few people who remain in denial over how poor a job Potter has done do tend to be very strange blokes.
