Hate to get all political on this catastrophic thread but what the hell... 
Did you see the way they were assaulting people for going to see Ben Shapiro at a University? Someone went undercover and caught two Antifa members who were trying to smuggle guns in the hall so they could kill him, they're now arrested. Utterly ridiculous how anyone can be apologetic to that mob, they aren't fighting fascists, they're just fighting people who disagree with them violently. When you're going around calling liberals like Sam Harris fascists and nazi's then you know there's something wrong, their definitions of fascist are broadening to suit their agenda. 
But this is what happens with every label, just like how on TalkSport, their response to the Sterling incident was to go off the rails and accuse United fans of being racist to Lukaku because apparently calling a black player lazy is being racist due to some stereotype. What's ironic about that is the bigotry of low expectations, and creating this strawmanned stereotype yourself to argue against. Lukaku gets criticised because he used to be athletic and now he has become lethargic and lazy, he admitted it himself that he regrets bulking up too much. 
At the end of the day, we're all going to have different opinions, we just have to be sensible about it, I avoid from talking about politics on this forum because I know things can get hostile very quickly. If I only spoke to people who have the same political opinions as me I would have about 4 friends.

It is a quarter-final, the team and the coach, especially, the coach, are in desperate need of trophies + the cherries are real danger and they will give it all for this game, no doubt about it. Wouldn't start with CHO, Ampadu, Christensen and Moses tho. With some of them, yes, but well balanced team between our best and our youth is what i want to see.

Good win. Poor in the end. Marcos Alonso is a lucky boy and i really feel like we need Emerson Palmieri to take that spot or get an LB that Sarri likes. No one in any posts contained within this thread has defended racism.
If the fan in question has made racist comments, then not only should the club take action, but he should also be liable for legal action against him too.
At this stage we don’t know if he has been racist. Racism is disgusting, and the narrative being presented in recent years that racism has become more insidious is accurate. Just because it has become less avert does not mean that it does not exist.
However, we don’t know if the bloke was being racist. Due process needs to be undertaken.
Watch any football match on TV and you will see fans making wan*er signs to players and shouting abuse. I just don’t get how this bloke’s behaviour is any worse than what goes on.
Why has he in particular been made such a scapegoat?
I would also like to know who instigated this witch hunt. Someone on social media declared that a football player had been racially abused. This person was not at the match. This person did not hear what was said.
Now that it looks like the fan may not have actually been racist the morally outraged from Tunbridge Wells want blood anyway.
I was at the Many City game. I heard chants from the Matthew Harding Stand calling the player in question a c**t. Most people in the family stand where I was sat laughed.
At the Everton game I sat near the Everton fans and watch dozens of Chelsea fans make provocative gestures to Everton fans supported with ‘blue’ language.
Everton fans sang in unison calling Ross Berkley a rent boy. Deriding his sexuality and life style choices in an abusive manner.
If it is shown that the fan at the centre of this storm was not actually racist what considering all that occurs at every game up and down the country has he done wrong?
The hypocrisy evident here is frustrating. From the media and football supporters alike.

We are living in barmy times. It’s not uncommon for players or referees to the struck by objects thrown from the crowd, and yet a single incidence of a player being verbally abused receives more media attention.

Good. Liverpool and Spuds bigger threats than Napoli and Inter. they will also get distracted in CL more than EL friendly boring-ass matches. Sarri will know how to deal with these italians teams. they are good at times, but limited. A lot of chances missed yesterday by Napoli which is a team that knows how to play football but doesn't have the quality to deliver end product. that's why they've never won anything.  Nothing really dangerous came out of CL group stage. It is still between us and Arsenal. And we all know it's up to us to whether we win it or not, not to Arsenal.

What about the other thousands of people every Saturday 3PM, up and down the country who use that sort of language? Should they all be suspended? 

It is not OK, it is wrong... yet, it is not enough to get life time ban either. Simple as that. that level of sensitivity is killing the society.

The first time I heard my Dad swear was at Chelsea. I thought that was part of the attraction- letting off steam, getting the weeks frustration out of your system.
I realise I’m a dinosaur, and I wouldn’t knowingly scream the C Word if there were young kids sitting close by, but come on....
Just thinking- I don’t moderate my language at games for women- call me a sexist pig but see it as a male environment that by and large they’ve joined knowing the rules
And people wonder why year on year the atmosphere at games becomes progressively more sterile. 

You will never, ever, ever, ever stamp out abuse/foul language at football. Never in a millions years will that happen and you’re delusional if you think otherwise. 
 
There is of course absolutely no place in any walk of life for racist language. But as I say, if words like ‘c**t’, ‘f**k’ etc bother you, I’d suggest staying at home as they will always exist at football and in most walks of life. 
 
If he has racially abused Sterling he deserves everything he gets, however if he’s not and he’s called him a ‘manc c***’ the witch hunt is a joke.

look at the anger in some of those faces. I doubt they’re screaming ‘have a good game mate’. There was no big debate about the abuse terry was receiving in this photo and if football fans should swear or he aggressive.
 
Just to reiterate - If he’s been racist then he deserves no sympathy whatsoever and the book should be thrown at him.

I am the opposite to Argo. Not at all convinced by Kova yet. Sure I can see he has potential but he really, really needs to add some end product IMO. The swirly twirly in the middle of the pitch is definitely going to get him on Soccer AM next Saturday but we want more than that. Physically Barkley and RLC are bigger, stronger and better in the air. Kova covers more ground but is that really enough?
My usual measure of player is would I be gutted if they went to Tottenham? If Kova went tomorrow I don't think I would be with what I have seen so far.
