Spuds v Chelsea (PL) Sun 19th Sep KO 16:30 BST
I think the way Spuds started caught everyone out. I expected them to park the bus, watching how they’ve played this season and having Nuno as manager. We weathered the storm well, and then just showed our class in second half. Kante was fantastic second half but what a signing Silva has been. Masterclass by both. I think this is my second Silva MOTM vote this season so far. And totally delighted for Kepa. Strongest No2 in the League and I really don’t fear him being selected.

Following Our Nearest And Dearest Rivals 2021/22
Leicester now two down to Brighton. Sort of gone under the radar a bit but Brendan has had a fairly sh*t start to the season.

I have 3 converted, unfortunately I think that one will follow the red side of Manchester.

The whole family at mine today for dinner @ 5. How did that happen. These things get arranged without my knowledge. Hard to watch in peace with grandkids climbing all over you. No option but to run with it. Enjoy the match everyone, hoping for a 3-1 win.

Our Youth on Loan
Haven’t opened this tread since July 2020. Had a scan through and came across lliyaKrostin post from just last May. How a transfer window can chance things. Never expected either to have left the club.

Don’t think we should even try to. I’d have thought 50% sounds fair but we shouldn’t go into competition with clubs like PSG.

Chelsea v Zenit St Petersburg (CL) Tues 14th Sep KO 20:00 BST
I do think he has some points though @Nibs, but I think he is way off in his prediction of 4th/5th. I was hoping TT would move away from the 5 at the back and initially I think most people thought that he would prefer a back 4. I can see why he’s sticking with it as it’s getting results but we are sometimes passing the ball to death against weaker teams. As far as our competitors go. City will be strong but will definitely prioritise the CL. Liverpool are only a couple injuries away from being average but they will play second string for League and FA cups to try and save players. Man Utd have OGS. So I’m hoping to be at least top 2 and with a few things going our way, Champions.

Chelsea v Zenit St Petersburg (CL) Tues 14th Sep KO 20:00 BST
Zenit made it difficult for us with their set up and were disciplined enough to nearly succeed. However we seemed clueless at times with our pointless passing, passing, passing whenever we got nearly their box. There were a lot more opportunities to deliver crosses which were ignored for us to revert to backward and sideward passing. Lukaku is more than decent in the air and I’m not saying to knock in crosses every time but a bit more service please. 66% possession produced 11 shots with 2 on target and is just pish. Hope we can become more productive this season when we meet packed defences because we can be dire to watch.

MOTM vs Aston Villa (H) (PL)
Hate giving my MOTM to a goalkeeper but this time I’ve no choice. Mendy kept us in the game, along with that master Silva. well played to Kova and Lukaku.

Saul Niguez
First game and it was a shocker. Just not up to speed yet with the EPL. Really needs to build up his awareness. Its only his first game a d Villa did press well. Think it will take at least to Jan before we can see if he will fit in. Hopefully TT can get him up to speed quickly.

Maybe you don’t like to tempt fate Val or tell your sister little white ones but can I suggest telling sis that you were feeling a little unwell and didn’t like to risk bringing C19 to the party. So, as a caring human, you went for PCR test and you’re awaiting results. Full time whistle phone sis and tell her you just got all clear and you’re on your way. Spend the rest of the evening playing catch-up.

The whole rules changing every year can be a bit confusing. As the rules stand I believe that it shouldn’t have been a penalty. The ball deflected off his thigh to his arm and away. A swipe of his arm was post contact and did not affect the ball. My own views are the ball was goalbound only it hit the arm and a pen or goal should be awarded. My big problem with Taylor was that he did not award a pen, was this because he saw nothing wrong. He was then advised by the VAR team to look at the incident and he had a quick look at a still and awarded penalty and a red card. Maybe I missed something and he did award pen or the rules have changed a bit like off side, don’t make a decision and let VAR sort it. Also I don’t care what anyone says and wether it was conscious or unconscious leniency but ther was leniency shown towards Liverpool players especially Salah kicking the ball away. That one is as nailed on as taking your shirt of in a goal celebration. It’s a booking, full stop.- Jules Kounde
Wow @axman2526, 6 out of 10. Not like you to be so upbeat. 😂- Callum Hudson-Odoi
This is true in the premiership as first choice but there are many more matches to consider like League Cup (whatever it’s called now) and if we secure ourselves in CL group stages early. If EPL matches are wrapped up early he can rest other players. Can’t just play a small group of players through everything. If we have a good season he could be involved 20/30 matches. Just don’t think he can go without someone coming in.- Anthony Taylor
Amazing stats. Incredible Man Utd figures. It’s not that surprising but interesting when you see the proof in writing.- Liverpool v Chelsea (PL) Sat 28th Aug 2021 17:30 GMT
You sad sad little scummer. Have to come on to Chelsea forum to say your little piece. Point 1. The important thing is ( you say it yourself, after the ball struck his arm) that no movement was made towards the ball to make the contact and after that contact no other contact was made with the ball. The swipe was a reaction but didn’t cause contact. Point 2. You mention our spending. Maybe you’d like to say about our net spend over this past 3 years. We are about even if not slightly plus so I think maybe we can afford to spend a little more especially with the CL windfall. Maybe you should be more concerned about your clubs spending or lack of it. For being such big earners with winning your first EPL in 30 years and then the CL you must have money to burn or is it just bulging the pockets of your American investors. This plus being one of the first clubs to apply for furlough, while Chelsea made the their hotel available to key workers for free and provided 14000 meals per week for the more vulnerable in the community. Your club is an embarrassment. Now climb back into the hole you crawled out of you pointless little f**k.- Romelu Lukaku back to Chelsea - and gone again!
I think this is the point. Liverpool had a massive height advantage at set pieces.- Liverpool v Chelsea (PL) Sat 28th Aug 2021 17:30 GMT
What a sub today by TT about 8 minutes from time in bringing on Chalobah. Shows how much he trusts him at a high pressure point in the game. That must do a lot for the boys confidence. Now with James out for 3 matches that should give him more minutes play. - Anthony Taylor
