Not a good game by the fires ds, midfielders or wingbacks Ziyech and Alonso disappeared for long stretches of the game. Tiuechel should have brought Havertz and Chilwell on much sooner. Teams are going to park the bus to defend against Lukaku and Turchel will need to use Chelsea’s speed to counterattack before the opponents crowd the 28 yard box. 
 

Set pieces were also not good. If Ziyech is in the game let him take them.

We have no choice but to play our strongest lineup here, Lukaku can rest in the FA Cup game afterwards.

E.Santo is a good manager so I hope Tuchel makes everyone sharp or this one!

Would expect Spurs to set up defensively and look to counter us as Wolves did in both games last season.

Spurs have some serious concerns at centre back at the moment which we should be looking to exploit, can't see any of their currently available defenders being able to deal with Lukaku, so in my mind we should be slight favourites for this but as always it will be a difficult game, however I think we should line up to go at them and attack. Alonso has an immense record against spurs so i'd give him the start here. Would be tempted to give Werner a look in as well but for me Kai just gets the nod

Weirdly feel worse in the run up to this fixture than the one against Liverpool. Maybe just cos it’s Spurs or because yesterday’s game didn’t fill me with confidence. Don’t care what formation he picks, don’t care who scores. Just want the win. Beating Spurs also means I would settle for a draw against city the week after. After palace doing one on them the weekend, be laveeely to add to that.

I honestly don't care if Spurs have all their centre backs fit along with son and Kane.  As long as we play to our full potential we should win. I believe we weren't playing at full capacity against villa and zenith because we felt we could beat them in 2 Nd gear. I don't expect such an attitude in a derby against the dirty spuds. No need to start Kante because he will be crucial against Man city .

I wonder if having lukaku may have TT thinking about using all 3 of Jorgi, Kante and Kovacic in big games to. Could be quite a devastating midfield if we get all 3 firing in tandem.

Another game against Jose's  ( or Nunos) bus, it will follow the same pattern as the last 4-5 games against them. Now we have Lukaku, we should be feeling confident going into this game. I like to see more speed and directness in this game, I'd play Werner and Chilwell instead of Ziyech and Alonso.

Nah you will put too much pressure on Lukaku and his partner to do everything offensively. We have seen those 3 play together. Kante was the only one who is capable doing something in final 3rd. I was considering playing that way against city last year to protect our two wb, but they were so good that it was not needed. 

For me we should play pure 352 only when Kante is not available or when we are just trying to close shop

In theory it frees both Kova and Kante to be that more offensive, and while neither of them will deliver goals they hopefully would assists.

We have played that midfield lineup under Sarri and Lamp. In final 3rd Kovacic is awful, Kante is below average,Jorginho is useless.

So with 3 player, all more comfortable playing deeper you kinda want to play back 4 to allow one more attacker but watching how our midfield defend this season, back 4 against strong opposition is not really recommended.

They will be rested in midweek. Make no mistake we need to beat Spurs and City, and most of our games after if we want to make up for all the points dropped in our normal winter slump and especially when lose Mendy for the ACoN.

 

Given spurs have had issues with the international players leaving without permission and play today no excuses for us not winning, Champions would do.

Just want to beat this Vile Club. It’s Spuds Cup Final, their biggest game of the season so will be tough. They’ll be over the moon with a draw They’ll play the Spurs way so they’ll kick the sh*t out of us as always, expect them to park the bus.
