Blue2 got a reaction from Droyman in Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea ManagerI won't deny him underperforming, but I think everybody should be able to understand that the problems at this club go above his head too, so I kinda fail to understand the toxicity from parts of the fanbase towards him.
I mean if you support the club, then why would you want it to practically burn about 100mio, which it would mean if the owners sack him now, before the club has any chance profiting from signing him at all.
Yes, the current form statistics are really bad and there is a clear negative momentum which we all can see, which he has to find solutions for to stop and to get results, but I don't see him as the culprit for the current crisis, so as long as we aren't in clear danger of relegation in this constellation, I don't think it makes strategically sense to sack him, pay him off and sign another manager just to end up midtable or even in the bottom half of the table anyway.

Blue2 got a reaction from ducavis in BlueCo buy Chelsea FCI think a total squad overhaul is a good idea, but after the clownshow from last summer I wouldn't be to confident about the owners pulling it off to strenghten the squad without totally overpaying and offering disproportionately high contracts, blowing up our wage structure even more than it already is.
I mean for example if the rumors are true that the club is ready to offer Kanté a new three year deal for the same wages he is on from a contract he signed in 2018 when he was one of the best players in his position and a fresh WC winner, while he will be 32 years old at the end of the season with having missed minimum half a year through injury, to me that is clearly an argument against them knowing what they're doing.
No disrespect to Kanté but commiting huge wages to an incredibly injury prone player in his thirties would be madness.
The fact that the club regressed that much (Tuchel overperformance aside) in the last years imo is mostly based on the lack of financial principles and bad decisions on the transfer market. I really hope with the new 'transfer specialists' in charge that there will be a significant improvement in that regard.

I think you've helped to highlight what our 'issues' are and it's not Potter! My fear is that we just keep blaming the manager and hire, sack, repeat - all the while the team just keeps getting worse and worse - a trend we had way back in the 1970's - and look where that got us! A trend only stopped by Bates when he refused to sack John Neal (a lot of so called Chelsea fans at the time were screaming for his head) - and look where that got us, back on an upward trajectory!
A lesson from history that we MUST take heed of right now.

Blue2 got a reaction from Br0wser in Should Graham Potter be sacked?I voted for 'No, he should be given more time', because of some of the reasons already stated in this topic. Some of the criticism towards him I agree with also, but I disagree with the mindset of the people who want him to get sacked in this situation.
I mean guys how about having some realistic expectations about the clubs situation, just because performance and resultswise Potter so far is a downgrade on Tuchel, there is no reason to think that Potter can have no positive effect on the club in the longterm.
With the owners having a longterm strategy which should suit Potter's profile, how would it be beneficial to the club if he gets sacked, because of a results crisis which is clearly influenced by an injury crisis, players underperforming and a squad quality problem?
Even if Potter has underperformed in some matches and probably will do so with this squad until the end of the season, I would still prefer if the owners back him and have a proper plan which they follow than act in a volatile manner.

Blue2 got a reaction from axman2526 in Raheem Sterling signs for ChelseaI have to disagree with you on this post, I see it contrary. We signed him to be our main man in offense, this is definitely what the wages we pay him indicate, so with that comes a natural expectation that he performs to a certain standard, which in the majority of matches he doesn't do.
He just seems to be coasting through matches, he isn't the only one, but he is the topearner of the squad and the player with the most playing time for us so far this season and he is offering very little on the pitch, but somehow you have the opinion that he is unfairly critized for his noshows, are you his agent or something?
Based on the sample size of his performances until now, everyone should agree that the club made a massive misjudgement with signing him and putting him on a 17m annually contract for 5 years. Just 4 months into his contract and the club has to make plans about finding a way to shift him already and the worst thing about it is that it was predictable that this would happen.
Like somebody else already said 'He is just this seasons Lukaku.'

Blue2 got a reaction from strider6004 in Serie A@Term_X
I agree you have to give Napoli praise for the way they made business on the market this summer. They sold their topearner(Koulibaly) and let their other two topearners(Insigne, Mertens) plus the majority of their older players leave for free, replaced them effectively via good scouting, made a small profit on the market, lowered the cost of their squad significantly and improved as a team, kudos to them.

Blue2 got a reaction from axman2526 in BlueCo buy Chelsea FCI called the stupidity of this transfer out before it happened and so far in the majority of the matches he hasn't looked like an upgrade on Werner or Pulisic at all imo. He had a good start scoringwise, but since the national team break in September his performances are really poor and he looks like a player who is declining in ability as well, what were concerns about him on here too before we signed him.
If you take into account the details of this transfer he definitely has the potential to be one of our worst transfers in club history.
I hope that we move him on next summer, because the value for money just isn't there like with Werner, but this is probably easier said than done with his grotesque contract. And like @axman2526 I sense from his demeanor too, that he is someone with an overinflated ego.

Blue2 got a reaction from Sexyfootball in Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea ManagerI find some of the critics he gets on here extremely harsh, I mean he loses for the first time at the tenth match into his tenure against a team which he build for the past three years and people call for him to be sacked. Why? Because he isn't Tuchel? Because he tinkers a lot? Or is it just sarcasm?
It is clear that the mismanagement at this club predates Potters tenure here by far and you can see that he is a good manager, therefore I fail to understand the thought process around the negative opinions about him. What are these based on? He got an unbalanced squad six matches into the season shortly after the transfer window closed to work with, was hired as a longterm manager and his career resume to date indicates that he is a builder type of manager, but some people want him gone already because he experiments with the squad and this leads to some underperformances, please guys have some patience.
Based on his profile the only way signing him in the first place makes sense, is if you give him time to build, even if it means underperformance (missing out on the CL next season) in the short term, so it's highly likely that the owners have calculated that in the decision to sign him as manager, if they have a data driven approach.
I really would like to know, who the people that think his tenure here will be a failure, want to have as the manager, or explain why they disapprove him that much after not even two month of him being in charge of the team.

Blue2 got a reaction from Drogba1 in Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea ManagerIt definitely comes from the wish of the media for an english elite manager, so it shouldn't be surprising that the media are happy when an english manager gets appointed at one of the top clubs. I can understand the appeal an english manager at a top club has to the media while no english manager has won the Premier League or the Champions League and I don't see a problem that it's this way either, I mean that the media perceives him positively. Hopefully he can change the fact that no english manager has won both of the big titles in his time here, if it isn't to much to ask of him.

Blue2 got a reaction from Nibs in Official Thomas Tuchel *Now Sacked*I want to say that I share the overall sentiment of the majority of the fanbase towards his sacking and my reaction to reading the news was like:
"WTF, NO! This must be one of the most ridiculous sackings of all time, this is even more ruthless than Roman."
I really liked Tuchel as our manager and think he did an overall great job in his tenure at Chelsea and even if our performances this season were quite bad from a football quality pov, I don't think the results were that bad, that it would've warranted such a ridiculously early sacking, based on the results during his 18 months here before. Just seven competitive matches into the season and not even a week after the transfer window closed, while almost half of the outfield players of our squad are new to the squad and I don't know how many of our transfers just signed because of Tuchel's recommendation in the first place.
I mean if this was really preplanned by Boehly, why would've we signed Aubameyang, who basically came here based on his relationship to Tuchel?
Why have we sold/loaned some players because the manager didn't want them or because they wanted to flee from him, when they could've been fancied by the next manager if Boehly knew this was gonna happen?
Such planning and decisionmaking seems schizophrenic crazy to me and I would even call it treacherous towards Tuchel, if he wasn't inaugurated about his sacking beforehand. Towards the players that would've been very sneaky as well, if they came to work under Tuchel.
If nothing significant happened recently and the new owners really led him on to think he was their manager, so he bridges the start of the season period just to get stabbed in the back and schockingly sacked, these owners act like scumbags and this should be pointed out.
I would've trusted Tuchel to overcome this period and stabilize our performances, because he is a top manager and the negative patterns weren't something to bad that couldn't be recovered imo, but now the decision has been made and I hope the next manager will be a good fit.
I wish Tuchel the best and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he ends up at one of our domestic rivals next, or even at Real Madrid after Carlo retires.

Blue2 got a reaction from just in Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea ManagerI would've liked Tuchel to stay, but simultaneously approve the fact that we have given a chance to a highly rated english manager to prove himself at top level. The fact that the owners payed his release clause and signed Potter on a five year contract should mean that they are totally convinced by him and and hopefully back him even through periods of underperformance when they occur. Even if it isn't Tuchel, I still would like us to try a longterm manager approach and profilewise Potter should be suited for that and on paper his playing system should fit our squad too, so I'm quite positive with this appointment.

Blue2 got a reaction from strider6004 in A Topic About Refs, VAR and PGMOL.I am not sure if I'm in a minority with this opinion, but imo the ref made the right decision, i think it was a clear foul from Bowen on Mendy, because the contact was diliberately initiated by Bowen and if you don't judge the situation as if Mendy acted hurt after the contact was made, which one can basically just assume, the ref has to judge it as that Mendy got kicked and taken out of play and it happened before Cornet had the shooting opportunity, which makes it a foul. I would say the only reason there is any controversy is because pundits acting like it was a horrendous call.
If you then see the match today between United and Arsenal with the 'foul' on Eriksen being enough to disallow a goal over VAR review in favor of United, there really is no argument to act as if the call to give the foul on Mendy is an outrageous decision.
I would judge the controversial ref decisions this matchday like this, van Dijk red card foul(wrong), Coutinho goal disallowed(wrong), Newcastle goal disallowed(wrong), Leeds penalty appeal(should be a freekick), Arsenal goal disallowed(50:50), West Ham goal disallowed(right).
