Should Graham Potter be sacked? 91 members have voted

  1. 1. 4 months in, terrible football with no sign of improvement after the World Cup, youngsters aren't even being given a chance either, should he be given the sack?

4 months in,  and we only seem to be getting worse.

City, Fulham, Palace and Liverpool are the next 4 fixtures coming up. If we don't get a decent return there (6 points at least), we'll be completely cut adrift of top 4.

Should we sack Potter now to salvage the season, or give him him more time? Curious to see what people think.

We were never this bad under Tuchel. Even last season, which many viewed as a failure, we got top 4 comfortably and lost the League and FA Cup finals on penalties.

The attackers are also terrible

These past 9 months I have seen the worst football we've ever played, and Tuchel was a part of that.

Did you not watch the games we played under him this season? 3-0 loss to Leeds, 2-1 against Southampton, 1-0 against Dynamo Zagreb. The same jokers that let him down are letting Potter down too, this is mainly a player issue.

Reactionary nonsense. It’s clear as day he’s a long term appointment. Let’s go back to the cycle of sacking managers every 18 months and not developing an identity at this club. Something most of us have cried out for for YEARS even going back to when Roman was in charge.

We continue that cycle of sacking at the first signs of trouble then we will never compete at the top again.

Leeds was poor, but we dominated Southampton and Zagreb.

Here we're getting dominated by every team we play against apart from Bournemouth (who Palace just beat even more comfortably).

Yes the squad clearly isn't good enough but Tuchel was getting more out of them than what Potter is. The bare minimum expectation for Tuchel going into the season was Top 4 and a trophy, now people are seemingly happy with 7th/8th.

Not gonna lie, when the rumours were doing the rounds that Southgate might quit after the World Cup, I was hoping the FA would come for Potter and Chelsea would go back to TT and re-appoint him after his much needed break from the game.

But I think we are stuck with Potter for the foreseeable and just have to hope things improve and he does grow some balls and starts taking some risks. Don't often agree with Carjacker but did when he said Chelsea look a soft touch. Think the team is reflecting the coach right now and we look too easy to boss and get a result against. It's gonna be a long season with not too much to cheer about I'm afraid.

It's been 4 months and Potter doesn't seem to have any identity as to how we're going to play. Shouldn't there have been some improvements after the World Cup? He's had months to coach them now.

We’ve been crap in some games he’s been here and good in others. Yeah a few of the performances have been under par, but the players underperforming has been an issue long before Potter arrived here.

I think it’s knee jerk to talk about sacking him just because everything isn’t Rosie at the moment. I keep coming back to this point but how many times could Arsenal have sacked Arteta over the last few years? Now patience for them is paying off and they will either win the league this year, or finish a very close second.

In my opinion we should only be talking about Potter’s future if we’re still underperforming in a year/ 18 months time.

He should 100% be given more time IMO, these players don't care about us fans or the club, they get paid regardless and most of them are average at best.

Having said that Potter is not helping himself by picking players like KK and Azpi.

I'd rather have an academy right back thrown in and learn on the job than watch Azpi decline like this, and Chalobah for KK is a no brainer IMO

I'm still fully behind Potter but if he wants to bring the average age down and fitness levels up we should start now!

We might not win a lot but we have ain't winning a lot anyway so you might as well not get the results but at least see what direction we are are going in rather than not get the results with players clearly past their best and playing like they are only here for the wages.

Like I said I'm fully behind Potter as we seriously need a plan to get hungry more talented younger players in over the random buys of recent seasons, but Potter is making it harder to defend him with some of his decisions.

Salvage the season? You think Poch is going to get this lot playing? 🤣

You know Potter isn't able to coach players who aren't in the country right?

We weren't in his first 4 months but the following season was no better or worse than Lamps and Sarri. Potter has probably had a worse record than all three but he hasn't got the money all three got to spend yet.

Not so sure on that, have a look on YouTube for when we played Forest in 1991 and that wasn’t even the worst.

This Chelsea side though needs a spine, players prepared to put there bodies on the line. We get bullied far too easily. Work harder and their skill set will show through.

Hasslebank is spot on. Our midfield just doesn't exist. It's no wonder why James is relied on so much.

Our midfield issue flies under the radar so much that everyone is willing to blame every Tom, Dick and Harry for our issues. The correlation of it is even glaring, the moment Kante started becoming injury prone, our win % dropped heavily. If we actually fixed our midfield in the summer, Tuchel probably would have still been manager.

I’m not happy with what Potter has done so far but it doesn’t mean I want him sacked.

I think we could be doing a lot better and I still think we should have stuck with Tuchel who would have guided us through this rough patch.

If the owners wanted to be brutal they should have let Tuchel stay in charge to keep us competing for trophies while we go through a squad overhaul. That’s how good Tuchel is really, getting Potter in when we did was utterly pointless and needless. But here we are, and imo we will need to ride the storm before things pick up again. I’m thinking a couple of seasons outside top 4.

On the fence with this one, he’s been picked as a long term appointment but he really needs to show something before the end of the season for anyone to have any belief in him.

When arsenal were going through their disastrous 12-18 months at least arteta could point to winning the FA cup. He could do with winning a cup or a couple of big wins in the champions league as I cannot see a higher finish than 6th at the moment.

This.

High possibility we'd be looking far better had we gotten Tchouameni.
