Palmieri
If we landed both Palmieri and Dzeko it would start to look like a solid period. A deadline day signing of Mahrez would really tip it over the edge into an amazing one!

Well we're through. I still feel dead inside though after both our display and the ref's display.

Stick Kante up front for out next match after that penalty!

Mertens
It's mid-season, so sign him on a one and a half year deal. 31 isn't even that old (I'm just saying that because that's how old I am :P), and really he should still technically be in his prime. Coming towards the end of his prime, sure, but he still has a lot to offer. Not that I think this will even happen, but it's nice to dream.

Palmieri
If the reports are true that he prefers us and it's only going to cost us 20m then I'm not sure why we haven't announced the signing yet!
-
Save the window and our season and possibly Hazard and Conte with these signings
It's not a bad window, considering it's the Jan window. Gives us something to work with for the rest of the season and then we can look to bring in some high end talent once the season is over.

Mertens
Because Andy Carroll is cheaper, obviously.
-
Who would you take over Andy Carroll?
Jozy Altidore.

January Window 17/18
The problem is we can barely afford one really top class player, let alone 3. Surely if we had money to spend we would be trying to get these world class players. Instead we're fumbling around trying to get Andy Carroll for 15-20m.
-
Palmieri
Would definitely take him. He's young enough at 23 and looks to be a great alternative to Alonso. Hopefully we do more than just inquire about him because Liverpool are sniffing around as well.

Andy Carroll - Football has gone mad
Which we shouldn't be wasting on Andy freaking Carroll!
-
Alexis Sanchez
The fact we're even interested is a step in the right direction. I'm all for buying younger players with promise, but we need to be also looking at a massive name each year as well. Sanchez is that name, and it would be a clear signal that we won't be left behind. Now whether we even get to talk to him is another matter, but the fact we've made our interest known is only a good thing imo.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
FFP kinda of ruined us in a way. Pretty sure we're literally the only club that sticks to the FFP guidelines. Teams like City and PSG don't give two sh*ts about what they spend where as we pretty much only spend money once we sell.

January Window 17/18
I'm pretty sure as far as goals and assists go that Morata has started off better than both Costa and Drogba. Not saying he'll end up as good as them, but to say he hasn't proved his worth is ridiculous.
-
Daniel Sturridge
I wouldn't even take him for 3m.
-
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Also said that Countinho moving to Barca was bad for the Premier League. You wouldn't say that and then move to Madrid not long after. One would hope anyway...
-
Riyad Mahrez
Possibly the biggest over reaction I've ever seen on the site, and that's saying something!
-
Alex Sandro
Harsh on Kante.
-
Barkley
When you basically halve the asking price it's still a good deal, no matter how much money is involved.
-
Barkley
Of course it changes people's views. At 30-35m people were obviously concerned as that amount of money would be considered a major risk. 5 or so months later we're getting the same player for 15-20m less, which is a massive difference.
-
Barkley
I highly doubt we will go after Vidal now. I had my doubts about it anyway given the asking price and his age. The first week of the transfer period isn't even over yet. Plenty of time to land Mahrez. I'm just daydreaming here but a Jan transfer period of Barkley, Mahrez and any striker that isn't Carroll would be amazing.

Andy Carroll - Football has gone mad
Yeah, Drinkwater and Barkley I can handle but I draw the line at Andy Carroll. Though, that said, at least he wouldn't be able to score a 90th minute header against us.
-
Barkley
For 15m it's not the worst deal in the world. He's still young so has time on his side. It's one of those deals that I don't mind either way if it happens or not.

January Window 17/18
If we still had Costa we wouldn't have bought Morata. I do agree though, we are going to be hard pressed to find a quality striker who is willing to play back up. Vardy at a pinch, but he's also 30 and I'd rather not spend that type of money on what is effectively back up. As far as back up goes Batshuayi is perfect, but Conte simply doesn't trust him. If we do go for a young striker we need to show more faith in him, otherwise it'll just end up like Batshuayi or Lukaku again.
