MOTM vs Arsenal
I thought the whole team played really well today. Cech made some brilliant saves, Ashely Cole played really well, as did Malouda and Anelka, but my vote is for Essien. He was awesome today, in defence and attack :D

Awesome. Just awesome.

Video refs
I like that idea. It won't slow the game down too much as it'll only be a max of 6 stops at a minute each. Good plan :)

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
I don't rate him much at all. He drifts in and out of games too often for my liking.

Next permanent manager - who do you want?
How about a Guus and Jose double team?

Our strikers: the stark reality
I disagree - he scored in 51 seconds in the 3-1 win over Everton last weekend.

Malouda
Haha, yeah, his current Alfalfa style is quality.

PL, Arsenal v Chelsea, 10/05/09, 1600
Now, in all fairness, Essien only hits scorchers whenever we have a 1-1 draw at the Bridge. vs. Arsenal in 2007. vs. Barca in 2009. Next time will be in 2011, sadly.

After everything that's happened with this site in the past few days, how brilliant would it be if The Shed won?! :o

Our strikers: the stark reality
I'm not assuming, hence why I said it'd cost a hell of a lot of money. But they're certainly players that should be on the top of our shopping list this summer, and we should battle right to the very end to get their signatures.

Malouda
He's quality on FIFA 09 too actually.

Bruce Buck: Squad overhaul in the summer
I agree with everything Nibs other than Drogba...get rid of him, we have no strike force. Simple as thatm unfortunately. The only way we can get rid of him, IMO, is if we bring in at least 2 strikers first.

They have beaten me
I know how. Yes, everyone will be gutted about it and we probably won't forget it for months. But we should go to Emirates and absolutely slaughter the Gooners. We must show the footballing world that we deserved to be in the final and we're a force to be reckoned with. WE ARE THE CHELSEA AND WE ARE THE BEST!! WE ARE THE CHELSEA SO **** ALL THE REST!!
-
Our strikers: the stark reality
Ahhh, Benzema's someone I forgot about. Yes, get him over Silva, Aguero has pace to play wide right or left surely.
-
Malouda
I agree that he's been ineffective for France, but for Lyon he was an essential part of their attack, and he DID win Ligue 1 player of the season too. And for us, he was awful to start off with, but under Hiddink he has been awesome, performing well against everyone, not just the lower sides, the Liverpools and Barcelona's of this football world. Good on you, Flo. On the basis of his end of season, unless we sign a David Silva or a Ribery first, then I don't see a reason why we shouldn't keep him.
-
Our strikers: the stark reality
If we get either Defoe or Pavluychenko I will lose all faith in our strike force. I really think we should sign Aguero and David Silva. That would really cost a hell of a lot of money, but Aguero is just brilliant, and David Silva is a great winger, and has been known to play as a support striker in his time at Valencia.

My heart is blue
I honestly believe last night is worse than Moscow. Everything went against us, other than Essien's goal. Great post, Westway, so glad I have this place to talk to a crowd I know feel exactly the same way. Thank you, The Shed End Forum!! :)

CL Semi, Chelsea vs Barcelona, 06/05/09, 19:45 KO
Nothing can be said really to make last night seem anything more than what it was - a robbery. We did miss some great chances, yes, but that doesn't take away the fact that we should've had 4 penalties, Pique's handball not being given was the worst. Everyone keeps saying how Barca played well last night. No, I disagree. INIESTA played well last night. He was the only one with any drive to his game last night, and guess who scored? Essien's goal was possibly the greatest goal I've ever seen. Better than Eidur's bicycle vs. Leeds a few years back. Better than Zola's master stroke vs. Norwich. Pure class and I love the guy. EVen though he cause the goal, but I'm being picky. He worked his socks off and was just a very, very tired clearance. Typical. Malouda had another great game last night, fair play to the guy. And I really don't see why we took Drogba off. Was it an injury scare? The first tactical error I've witnessed under Hiddink. But I'd still be over the moon if he stayed on. And looking back, I just wish that it was JT in front of Iniesta when he scored rather than Ballack, cause JT would've just thrown everything at it to block it, even if it means getting kicked in the face. Gutted. Absolutely gutted. Don't worry. *Employ's Mourinho's "chin up" move* We'll be back. With a vengence.
