jezza reacted to just in Man City v Chelsea (PL) Sun 21st May 2023 16:00 GMTA tough game for sure but we need to show honour and integrity and do all we can to keep Arsenal's fading title hopes alive. So with that in mind I'd like to see the following team.
Mendy
Sterling. Apzi. Koulibaly. Cucurella
Havertz
RLC. Kova
Pulisic. Aubameyang. Ziyech

jezza reacted to holden in Gary Cahill - PL CL FAC LC EL championWhat is this trying to prove, honestly? Slander one of our best defenders, in our most succesful era? Theres nothing wrong with slowly playing it out the back. Not every play needs to be played with a drive out the back. The person who made this caption/clip is a donkey themselves, who just exposed their limited understanding of the game as far as I'm concerned (For anyone that has played this sport or any sport competitively for that matter).
Its quite saddening that so much hate and dislike is thrown towards Cahill, and any other player thats pulled on our shirt for us and given 100% for that matter, and won so much!
Aswell, it is very bewildering that so much attention has been thrown at one of our most decorated players, yet I can point out easily as many faults with our other fan favourites. Don't get me wrong, every player has their faults, no matter how great they are. But Gary is not some "donkey."

jezza reacted to Chelsea Planet in Gary Cahill - PL CL FAC LC EL championI am confident that Cahill will make a significant contribution to the club as a senior player. His presence could help us retain some consistency next year.

jezza reacted to offside in Gary Cahill - PL CL FAC LC EL championI seem to be in the minority thinking that Cahill played quite well for us overall this season and saved some important goals that I thought were destined to go in.

jezza reacted to JuveChelsea in Random RumoursHey everyone. This is my first post here...I'm a die-hard Juventus fan but I've always had a soft spot for Chelsea and with Conte there I'm definitely going to be following Chelsea & the PL more this year. I'm rooting for you guys. Anyways, now that's out of the way here's my 2 cents on the transfer market:
When Conte first came to Juventus, he made all of these "depth" signings. I really disliked them and it was quite frustrating and I understand why people are upset that a mega-star didn't arrive this summer but you have to realize something:
1) Conte is one of the best signings you could have made this summer, top tactical coach & motivator.
2) Chelsea are full of stars already, Conte is just reinforcing the team.
3) Conte gets the best out of all these players. Forget what Alonso did in the past - Conte will make him one of the best defenders in the PL.
Kante & Batshuayi are top-notch signings. Both so young, with so much promise. Luiz brings leadership, passion and experience to this team - a brilliant deadline day signing, Alonso is the perfect utility player he can fill in many different roles in the squad. Yes Chelsea overpaid for him, but he's honestly is a good signing, with Alonso you're getting 3 players in 1.
Lastly, Hopefully Conte implements some more of Chelsea's youth more - RLC seems very promising, hopefully he gets some play time this year.
Anyways, for those who are upset with this mercato - don't be. Conte first objective is to get this team back to winning, he'll get this team back into the CL guaranteed and who knows maybe he'll guide this club to a Premier League championship this year, he did it with Juventus who were coming off two back-to-back 7th place finishes.
Don't worry guys, this year will be great and next summer more will happen.

jezza reacted to foxedup in N'golo Kante - We are not worthy!United got more points last year than the year before.
Arsenal were only 4 points off their total.
Liverpool got exactly the same.
Everton got exactly the same.
West Ham 15 more.
Spurs got 6 more
Saints 3 more
The only major difference between last season and this, was you and Man City imploding. Nobody else really tailed off, they were all pretty much as you were. Nobody can seriously suggest everyone in the league was substantially worse all round.
Just my opinion of course.
What it was missing were its one standout team, yes we benefited from that of course. If you had been close to the levels of the year before we'd not have won it. But we still had to dispatch the other 18 teams in the league. Our performance this season would have been enough to net us second or third last season.
I watched us play every team twice last year as well as this, and I've not noticed that much of a drop off overall in quality in 12 months. The quality has certainly gone down compared to some of the very best seasons with all the big boys at their peak. But certainly not in one season.

Today we are close to signing Morata, Bonucci, Kante, Naingollan, Witsel, Koulibaly and maybe Messi..
The only thing we know for sure is that Marko Marin is back in training.

jezza reacted to PloKoon13 in N'golo Kante - We are not worthy!^ That's not really true. (edit: in response to The Funkey Gibbon)
Firstly, in his only two seasons in top-flight football, he has been a statistical phenomenon. To quite a large extent, the footballing gaze of most English fans doesn't extend beyond their own league and certain elite clubs in Europe. Just because we didn't know about him doesn't necessarily mean he wasn't moving mountains; all accounts suggest that he was almost as exceptional for Caen in 2014/15 as he was for Leicester in 2015/16. The Leicester argument doesn't really hold water either; firstly they weren't the only side in for him; secondly an insider view of the project they were undertaking might have seemed more impressive than the view from the outside - probably quite accurately too considering they pissed the league title last season.
Secondly, there is a difference between having a 'very good season' and being the best player in the entire league.

His boss replied: " I'll see you there, as I'm going to your family gathering ! "

He is somewhere between Matic and Naingollan and would be brilliant backup for both players.

unfortunately you are fighting against the tide with this argument.
you are correct, obviously, but you may as well not even bother writing it. this argument has been long lost when it comes to talking about football now.
people think that more information means a more informed debate but that clearly isn't the case.
this is how the majority of young people (in my experience) view football- through the hyperbole of edited footage, through computer games and through numbers on the internet. they aren't completely to blame- football is too expensive for people to watch live and often. their first interactions are through the things I mention and eventually that conception calcifies.
the result is people who don't have the tools to read the game, and who see eleven independent individuals on the pitch rather than one team- a living thing in itself, made up of people dependent on, and affected by, one another.

jezza reacted to Thrives in Eden Hazard - Chelsea LegendYep! I'll second that. Look, Hazard is a great little footballer and will go on to do great things. Whether he reaches the heights of Ronaldo and Messi also depends on the team around him and circumstances. I want to keep him, and I hope Conte do too. But the reality is that other big clubs believe that he is there for the taking. I think moving to RM would be a mistake for him ... too much pressure.
-
jezza reacted to evissy in Eden Hazard - Chelsea LegendHope we manage to keep him. Not every player can be the best in this league. He was that comfortably last season. If we sell a player like that we are extremely stupid.
