Chelsea will sign Portugal goalkeeper Eduardo next week, reveals Dinamo Zagreb boss

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is closing in on the signing of Dinamo Zagreb goalkeeper Eduardo, as confirmed by the club’s head coach Zlatko Kranjcar.

Eduardo is an experienced goalkeeper and was part of Portugal’s victorious Euro 2016 squad this summer, and now appears on the brink of joining Premier League giants, Chelsea.

The 33-year-old has been in Croatia with Zagreb for the past two years while Benfica are arguably the biggest club he has represented throughout his career, though Chelsea are soon set to become his biggest move yet.

If yesterday's training video on Chelsea TV is anything to go by Nathan Baxter has been training with the first team (until we sign another GK perhaps). My guess would be 2nd choice, it wouldn't surprise me if we're not actively looking to sell Begovic but if he wants to leave we've lined up Lopez/Eduardo just in case. Though as Xfactor says probably bollocks anyway. Lopez may go to Barca if they sell Bravo to Man City? Who knows.

Begovic is as good a back up keeper as we could ever hope for, except for that freak season with Cech and Tibo, I wouldn't want to sell him. I know a lot of people on here don't seem to rate him but I think he's quality, in that second tier of 'not-quite-world-class-but-still-very-good' goalkeepers in the Premier League like Forster, Adrian, Hart etc.

He is the best backup we could wish for but he's actually too good to be a backup.

Saying that, now Pep is ditching Joe Hart (and Everton are leading the race to sign him) then there's a good chance Bego may stay for one more season

Or Cech and his predecessor!

Have you ever read a players stats and instantly wished you hadn't? I hate to admit it but I worry when hes surplus to requirements at a club like Genoa after one season....
