  1. No younger player will ever replace Drogba, what he does (or did) is once in a lifetime. My hope is that he retires Chelsea, it makes the most sense, unless he decides to build a legend somewhere else, which makes no sense. Sure, he blows hot and cold, but he's the guy that makes defenders blow. Your piece was pretty good, Aiden, although I disagree with your conclusion that DD should move on. I suppose if he calls it a day, we both get our wish, but I suspect he's going to thrill us some more, my wild-eyed idealism has me picturing him hooking up with Torres at Anfield this May. Say no to giving up on Drogba.

Hank and Walt Jr are the only redeemable characters in the whole show, Ace. Walt Jr has reason to be grumpy, but he's a loyal and loving son who hasn't made any bad choices so far. I miss last season already, and can't wait for next season - it's final.
  3. Well, since this keeps popping up, I'll man up and admit that I was one of the posters who said that Ramires wouldn't cut it in the PL. I basically said (last season) that he was too lightweight to defend, and that when Frank John and Michael were healthy, he'd be riding the pine as a sub. In a way, that might be still true, but since the midfield has turned the corner from how badly it played last season, with him on as a regular, he has come good after all like so many of you said he would. He tackles bravely and wins his share, and will be hard to dislodge nowadays by anyone. So now I humbly eat those rash words, but know this Shed End that I never rooted for Ramires to fail - I have cheered him the same as the any of the lads.. Cheers
  4. Agree with you lot, Mata, then any of the mids.
  5. Hey Grin, welcome aboard.and let CFC worldwide know how you feel.

It sure is, Ace. This happens when you DVR everything, you don't remember the channels. I also know nobody's phone number anymore....

I never miss an episode, it's as good as a very good movie. Cable channel FX on Sunday nights.
  8. Lampard for me, with a nod and respect to Big Pete. Super Frank's effort was inspiring - work rate, solid defensively, ball control and distribution, he seemed possessed and I'm sure that goal felt incredible, given the influx of quality mids looking to replace him (also plenty of fans). NMOTM - Salomon Kalou
  9. Originally conceived as a one-off concert with a message against racism, Rock Against Racism was founded in 1976 by Red Saunders, Roger Huddle and others. According to Huddle, "it remained just an idea until August 1976" when Eric Clapton made a drunken declaration of support for former Conservative minister Enoch Powell (known for his anti-immigration Rivers of Blood speech) at a concert in Birmingham. Clapton told the crowd that England had "become overcrowded" and that they should vote for Powell to stop Britain from becoming "a black colony". He also told the audience that Britain should "get the foreigners out, get the wogs out, get the coons out", and then he repeatedly shouted the National Front slogan "Keep Britain White".Huddle, Saunders and two members of Kartoon Klowns responded by writing a letter to NME expressing their opposition to Clapton's comments, which they claimed were "all the more disgusting because he had his first hit with a cover of reggae star Bob Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff" ... Come on Eric... Own up. Half your music is black. Who shot the Sheriff, Eric? It sure as hell wasn't you!". At the end of the letter, they called for people to help form a movement called Rock Against Racism. Clapton later claimed that his remarks were made as a joke, and that he did not know anything about politics at the time. In a 2007 interview, however, he said he still supports Powell, and that he doesn't view Powell as a racist. - Wiki. I didn't know any of this, and it's fairly shocking. There isn't enough heroin in Afghanistan to make me say such things. I sport an Ibanez GAX30 in garnet, and a Gibson J45 acoustic.
  10. Wow, what a great bunch of pens when we needed them. I didn't want to see Luiz, but his was brilliant. Kalou's and FloMo's were unstoppable. Big ups to Hutch for his set of streams, the RealTV2 worked like a charm. Congrats to AVB, challenging night for him, and to all you in Blue !!
  11. Stateside it's on Fox Soccer Plus at 5pm EST, which is a premium channel that's not in my cable package. I'll be in my 71/72 at the Old Angle Tavern on W. 25th St. in Cleveland, so come by and I'll buy a pint or two. Here's my lineup ----------------Cech Paulo-----Ivan----Luiz-----Bertrand Ramires-----Mikel-------Lampard Sturridge----Torres----Malouda Subs: Lukaku for Torres, Romeu for Lampard, Kalou for Sturridge Rest 5 starters, but still bring it strong against Fulham. Crystal ball says 3-0 victory for the Chels, 2 by Nando
  12. Fox Soccer Channel has it live in the US, Sunday 11am EST, live broadcast. Fox Network has it at 2pm EST, so this will compete with the middle to end of the 1PM NFL game, which is any one of ten eastern matchups. This is a big opportunity for PL football to show where they stand with American sports fans, since this broadcast can be seen by basically everybody.

So assuming you have saved this file already, do a search using windows explorer or "my computer". The file is called DJ_AIO_06_F2400_NonNet_Basic_Win_enu_140_175.exe, so search for DJ*.exe (the star is like a wild-card). Once found, you can run this file by double clicking it. I would also recommend downloading and running the diagnostic program offered on the same page as this driver package - It might fix whatever is wrong at the moment.

If you attempt the download again, a window will pop up asking for you to OK the download. This window displays the destination folder for the file you have already downloaded, so you can then look in that folder - It might be called "My Documents/Downloads", or might be something else, but you should already have the file(s) you need on your hard drive.
  16. Last year I said here the PL title, but don't you folks think the players would prefer the CL, the biggest of prizes that none have? I'm switching my vote to undecided.
  17. Very nice avatar Westway. The only Gooner I might put in blue is Wilshire, and yet I don't want him either hampering Josh's development. Good luck today lads, Villa must be smashed.
  18. It's not disrespectful to describe the personality traits which led to Amy's death? I was just reading where her Dad said she was clean in recent years. I'm not saying he was right or wrong, but at least he knew her - your words are very personal and are just guesses. She could have died of kidney failure for all we know. But to your big point - who exactly is blaming the drugs but not themselves? Surely not users, I've known more than a few and they generally blame themselves. Do you mean society, left to carry on and trying to forgive rather than blame? Better that than to generalize every overdose as weak losers who got what they deserve. A million babies have been born with heroin in their system, altering their biology for life - that is a predisposition. That alone doesn't make one a user, but it certainly raises doubts about your one-size-fits-all view of something so complicated.
  19. Really? You don't want to blame the drugs, you prefer to blame specific character traits which is remarkable for someone that didn't know her. It's a over-simplified, uninformed and disrespectful conclusion.
  20. Laying the lion's share of blame on Ms. Winehouse's poor choices is weak. Sorry GB, but you seem to be showing a reflex so you don't have to consider the many forces that contribute to this sort of thing. "Close the book on this one, she made bad choices." We don't even know how she died (yet). Your hardline ignores that many people are victims that had little or no choice. My opinion is you should mix in some sympathy and for now show some damn respect for the departed.
  21. This is the best team news of 2011, so far IMO he can retire in blue and then manage with Frank.
  22. Best scenario for me involves Drogs retiring with Chelsea somewhere down the line.
  23. Interesting thread, very personal stuff here. Born American, I have followed international football since I was a kid, the 1970 WC final being the first match I remember watching. I never had an allegiance to any pro club and the whole world was like a delicious buffet of football. Light support for a few English and Italian clubs over the years, and could enjoy watching any decent fixture. But that changed for me once I went blue, and now I find that every club anywhere feels like a rival that I cannot support, so I've been ruined as a casual fan. Why Chelsea? I played center back and wore #26 back in 1980 for my high school and our kit was royal blue with white trim. That's where the kinship comes from. There's only one team that generates more interest from me, Florida State's college football team, the one with helmets, and that can never change since I suited up for the Seminoles back in the day. But CFC's fortunes now overshadow the Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Cavaliers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Cleveland Browns - the teams who used to compete for 2nd place in my sports world. I'll attend a Browns game because that's where the party is, but I'd rather be at the Bridge (and will one great day). I'm no glory-hound - nobody in my circle is into soccer like me i.e. there's no glory to be had! Just a Yank who you can be sure rides the ups and downs with each of you during (and well after) every match. Blue is the colour, football is the game...
  24. Nice one, Tim. Here's my favorite song of the moment:
