Posted October 17, 201113 yr Any comments on what happened and how serious? We need this boy on the pitch.
October 17, 201113 yr There's this on the official site: 'It is uncertain whether Ramires will be fit for those games [Genk and QPR] until he has a scan on his knee but Villas-Boas indicated the injury is a minor one LINK
October 18, 201113 yr "Not a big loss. Can't pass, can't score, just runs a lot. No need for energy and movement in a football team." The great thing about this forum is that ridiculous views, like this paraphrase of a friend of mine expressed at thee pub last week, are few and far between.

October 18, 201113 yr Argh, probably the last 2 words I want to see next to each other at the moment...! Hope he's fit for QPR.
October 18, 201113 yr I want to know what he's made of. AVB said at worst he'll miss 2 and the last time we saw Essien go down like that with hands cradling that knee we didn't see him again for a season. I'm starting to suspect Roman grew him in a lab.

The great thing about this forum is that ridiculous views, like this paraphrase of a friend of mine expressed at thee pub last week, are few and far between. something similar was said on here though earlier this season, cant remember by who though. Basically said he has no skill, cant pass, cant shoo and just runs around like a headless chicken tackling.
October 18, 201113 yr something similar was said on here though earlier this season, cant remember by who though. Basically said he has no skill, cant pass, cant shoo and just runs around like a headless chicken tackling. To be fair, in the first few months of last season he didn't have his bearings yet, bit of a headless chicken, but from about November onwards he's been one of the most important members of our team.
October 18, 201113 yr Author Adds so much sipped. Already scoring regularly. Fits our system like a glove. Try's like crazy. One of the first names on my team sheet. Hope avb is right and only a minor injury.

October 18, 201113 yr It was said only a few weeks into this season though. Gullit4 said early in the season that Ramires' on-the-ball skills were weaker than he'd like from our most nailed-on midfield starter; he didn't put it as strongly as your paraphrase, but I recall him saying (now I'm paraphrasing) that when we had peak Essien and Lampard, Ramires' passing & shooting would have held him back to being a rotation player at best. Could that be what you were thinking of?
October 18, 201113 yr Nope, not G4. Cant remember who it was, but he hammered him and said he was knowhere near good enough for our first team.
October 18, 201113 yr I questioned his ability on the ball and also passing against world class sides in a post after the Man Utd game, but nothing as severe as that.
October 18, 201113 yr Well, since this keeps popping up, I'll man up and admit that I was one of the posters who said that Ramires wouldn't cut it in the PL. I basically said (last season) that he was too lightweight to defend, and that when Frank John and Michael were healthy, he'd be riding the pine as a sub. In a way, that might be still true, but since the midfield has turned the corner from how badly it played last season, with him on as a regular, he has come good after all like so many of you said he would. He tackles bravely and wins his share, and will be hard to dislodge nowadays by anyone. So now I humbly eat those rash words, but know this Shed End that I never rooted for Ramires to fail - I have cheered him the same as the any of the lads.. Cheers
October 18, 201113 yr I've got a feeling it was the Easter Egg man. i think you might be right. Along with a few other idiotic things.
October 19, 201113 yr something similar was said on here though earlier this season, cant remember by who though. Basically said he has no skill, cant pass, cant shoo and just runs around like a headless chicken tackling. I seem to recall many here said similar things. He got a lot of criticism on here.
October 19, 201113 yr There's this on the official site: LINK It sure didn't look minor. he couldn't put weight on it. Some of the worst knee injuries come when a player is untouched. I hope for the best but fear the worst.
October 19, 201113 yr I seem to recall many here said similar things. He got a lot of criticism on here. Not after 2 weeks of this season he didnt.
October 19, 201113 yr I'm quite happy to say that I've not been a fan of Ramires as such, during his time here. I thought the criticism he got last season was well over the top, as he always gave his best. However, I still feel that he still needs more polish yet. His finishing despite his recent goals is still pretty poor, though it has improved and I'd just like to see him be able to take on and dictate a game. Not sure he has that in him, he'll always be a second midfielder to me, rather than a guy you can build a midfield around. Of course I think AVB's policy of unshackling him and allowing him to go forward not just Lampard has seen his game go to a level we didn't see last season. If Josh becomes all that he can be, he is going to make an excellent foil for him. As for his injury, lets hope it is just Genk he misses. A derby like QPR, where no doubt Warnock will have Barton and co. gnashing their teeth, is just the sort of game where his run gives us an edge. Edited October 19, 201113 yr by Spiller86
October 19, 201113 yr I have always defended Ramires, always knew from Arsenal at home and Villa away last season he was a good player. Problem is your modern day football fan has no patience and just expects instant gratification. He joins the long list of Chelsea players I constantly defend (Mikel, Kalou, JT etc)
