  1. Im merely using that statement to further reinforce how his rationale doesn't apply to today. The morality is more important to me personally than any legal ramifications.
  2. "Of course this was many years ago, long before a reference to the colour of a a person's skin could conceivably be construed as a criminal offence." - key point.
  3. Fair point mate. I hate to be a pedant but your case is pretty extreme and therefore I can understand your reaction. With Terry though, he was reacting to abuse about his alleged affair which, in his own words, he receives practically every time he plays. So with that in mind I don't see how your point applies? I understand your point about context and I'm not the over-zealous political correctness type either. But I'm sorry, Terry's words are, in my opinion, virtually indefensible in our society. And I'm not even a liberal. JMO
  4. Just throwing this out there, but how would people feel if there was a bronze statue made consisting of Drogs, Lamps, JT and Cech, (Possibly Ashley Cole) perhaps at the new stadium wherever it may eventually be? Or is that too cheesy lol?
  5. That "effort" was utterly laughable. I know its only the preseason and the the result has no meaning in itself, but the performance nevertheless reflects the general state of the squad heading into the CS vs City. We looked toothless in attack, Torres once again with no service and the defending was pathetic. I know that there are some key players to come back (Mata, Oscar will probably start once he's ready I think), but that was still largely the team that will start the season. Simply put, we're not ready to start the season. These next 2 weeks of training better be good.
  6. For the Mikel fans: http://www.eplindex.com/16829/chelsea-forget-john-obi-mikel.html In short, a load of stats which show how well JOM played in the last 4 or so months of last year.
  7. Just had a look at the first few pages, couldn't quite believe how much support AVB got from many here. I'd totally lost patience with him by the time of the sacking and was relieved he'd gone. This despite being a believer of the 'project' early on and wanting to see the board give someone a chance long term.
  8. I don't know about you but I wouldn't call someone a 'F*cking Black C*nt'
  9. As many have said, Hulk would be an ideal signing right now for a number of reasons. However, I'm not sure that the price tag is justifiable. I'd pay £25-30 Mill for him, but roughly £40Mill is a bit steep.
  10. To clarify what I was trying to say earlier on about Terry and his wrongdoings: I dont expect footballers to be role models, and therefore I dont really care what they do. So long as John Terry gives it 100% when he plays and continues to be the best captain in the whole of the Premier League on the pitch then I'm perfectly happy. However, my point was this: I find it really quite pathetic how some seem to try and absolve him at every available opportunity. Just drop the football bias for one second and look at it objectively. What Terry has done really pushes the boundaries of morality, however you want to spin it or whatever Chelsea's crooked lawyers might have to say. It's this that I wish some would at the very least accept, rather than blindly denying Terry of doing anything wrong.
  11. I find it hilarious how partisan people get over here about Terry despite all the despicable sh*t that he's done off the ptich.
  12. You can almost sense the jealousy emanating from those posts.
  13. I still seems surreal to me that we've won the Champions League. After all these years of heartache I was beginning to think it would never happen with the Old Guard, especially with how bleak things looked under AVB around February time. As ecstatic as I was at the time, I have to say I feel more 'at ease' I suppose now, as if a sense of pressure has been lifted from around the club and the supporters. In that sense I guess, with the glow of the CL still relatively fresh in my mind, I feel quite calm heading into this new season and perhaps don't expect as much as I generally would. As far as the glow lasting, it will never fade totally, but all it would take is a horror show at Wigan on 18th August for the short-term ecstasy to disappear! I actually foresee this season being more difficult than many would imagine right now, so I hope the 'glow' can carry us when needed!
  14. Precisely! How Benayoun went on the pre-season tour is beyond me too, he's got to go given how many better and younger creative players we now have. Ferreira out too once the new RB comes in. I'd sell Essien too, unfortunately. Then loan out KDB, McEachran, Lukaku maybe if we sign a new striker, and some of the other kids like Kane, Chalobah etc.
  15. He looks very raw indeed from the one video I've seen of him. I don't expect him to be anywhere near the first team for at least a season.

Sky Sports News understands that Chelsea have agreed a £25million deal for Internacional's Brazil international Oscar... http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7904965/Oscar-deal-done
  17. Sell, sell, sell. He's an ageing waste of space in our squad which already has enough dimunitive creative players. Not to mention that he's another obstacle in front of the youngsters. I don't think he's ever really been good enough for us either, certainly not as a starter. Still can't believe he made that tweet after the 5-3 against Arsenal...who pay your wages Yossi?
  18. Let's be honest, that video was very incriminating. We all know what the words were that came out of JT's mouth. It seems as though he was acquitted primarily because his legal team were able to exploit the uncertainty behind both Anton's evidence (supported by nobody) and the obscurity of the context in which JT's words were said. I don't myself think that JT is a racist, I actually do believe him that he was replying to what Anton had initially accused him of. All in all though, as with the Colegate and Kakuta sagas, it appears that the legal team did what they were probably paid a hefty sum for. Sorry, I know this might sound a bit stark in light of the relief that JT has been acquitted. But this is just how I regard what has happened.
  19. EdenHazardCFC, can't see it for some reason. Did you include the flick with the outside of the boot against Stoke when we won 7-0? That one never seems to remebered.
  20. Good riddance. Hopefully we can get £5 million. Had a brilliant 18 months for us, sandwiched between 4 years of being largely disinterested and ineffective.
  21. He's been given no.14 so perhaps he will be in the squad? If he was going to be farmed out on loan surely they wouldn't even bother giving him a number?
  22. I'd like to think that Essien can come back to his best but I just don't see it happening. 2 cruciate ligament injuries to the same knee inevitably take their toll on any athlete. If we could use him as a makeweight in a transfer for another CM (either creative or defensive) I'd be happy. All in all, I'm more inclined to sell him.
  23. Didier, Thank you so much for all the wonderful memories you gave to me over the years, many of which are the most poignant moments of my life. You are a true Chelsea legend, and to me personally, the most important player in our history. I wish you every success in the endeavours that you wish to pursue in the future, whether they be in football (hopefully back at Chelsea!), charity, or politics. I hope to see the Didier Drogba Foundation achieve every success in the future in giving West Africa in particuar greater economic, political and social wellbeing. Thanks again, Paddy
  24. If Meireles goes I'm not too fussed. He's a very erratic player most of the time, he gets his foot in and scores a few screamers yes. However he's not a good enough passer of the ball to me. If he were to go to free up space for Fellaini/Tiote, then I'd be very happy with that. Or maybe even for McEachran, that would be cool too.
