Bollocks, I missed it.

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
I don't understand. This is a thread made to do just that, single out Torres and talk about his performance. Same goes with the Mikel thread. The blame (wouldn't go that far myself) is well and truly apportioned in the match thread and in threads of the other players who have their own.

Should still win, Anzhi are pretty poor.

Was funny at first but now it's kind of pathetic how awful Vermaelen is

Ivan a better cb than terry, luiz and cahill?
Don't agree with the third goal because that was what Luiz was told to do, press/mark Hulk tightly and stop him from double teaming with Belluschi, even Maxi was pressing up. Even the first goal could have been prevented by Sidnei but fair enough, that's your view I just happen to see it differently.Well they should, he was better than Mareclo last season. But anyway, I wasn't trying to mitigate how poorly he played, I brought it up because you said "It'd rank as one of the single worst defensive performances I've ever seen in a match between two high calibre European clubs". despite Coentrao, in the same match, having a much, much worse performance.

Drogba replaces Zola as greatest player ever
Never really made or thought of a list but Zola and Le Saux would be right at the top for me.

Time to unleash Moses down the middle !
More composure than Sturridge? How so? He didn't look all that great down the middle for Wigan and his finishing is too erratic for him to be a lone striker. Worth a try I guess, he's fairly decent as a striker because his of movement and he is always trying to play off the shoulder the defender but without a partner up front with him he does look lost.

Ivan a better cb than terry, luiz and cahill?
Almost 2 years ago. It's relevant because people are trying to use his performance in that one game as a reason not to play him there again, while completely ignoring his performances at LB during the 09 and 10 season (played a crucial role during the title winning season) . Even worse is the fact that Luiz wasn't even the worse player on the pitch and at the end of the 90 mins, he actually ended up being one of Benfica's best defender, if not the best. I wouldn't want the Luiz of today to play fullback for us because he is much more important to us at centre back, however in the case of injures, fatigue, etc I would be more than confident in him putting in a good shift there because of the reasons I already mentioned.

I'll make it simpler; Luiz played the first half at LB and was directly responsible for 1 goal (Debatable as to whether it was even his fault, the two CB's just watched the ball come into the box). Coentrao played the second half at LB and was directly responsible for 2 goals. Last I checked 1 is less than 2. I can only assume you didn't watch or remember the second half because there's no way anyone who did can make such a statement.

Ivan a better cb than terry, luiz and cahill?
The point was that he didn't get any help (and actually I remember a few times when it was him v 3 players as the whole team shifted towards the right to exploit Luiz on the break). Any left back in the world would be made to hopeless in those circumstances, Cole is currently suffering the same fate but no one in their right mind would call him a poor LB. Not only is that one match against two of the best players in the league at the time, which isn't nearly enough to call him utterly hopeless at LB, you also fail to mention how poor the rest of the defence was. Also it's funny how people always go on about Luiz in that game but seem to have selective memory when it comes to Coentrao who was by far the worst player on the pitch. Compared to Coentrao he was solid. All in all, Luiz was actually Benfica's best defender, albeit the best from a bad bunch but still. Well the important part was that he didn't get beaten easily, made it hard to get past or get a cross in. I would like him to make more direct forward runs though. I only recall him missed one header which was at a slight angle and he was off balance.

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
Jackson Martinez is nowhere near good enough and he is already 26. He's a decent finisher but has very little else to his game. Would be better off with Lukaku. I'm leaning towards Llorente myself, I can't think of anyone else as good that would be as cheap. Wages shouldn't be a problem either considering the cheap transfer fee.

Gerrard is such trash and Suso needs to stop being wasted on the wing.

Falcao to Chelsea?
Nevermind Spain, he's been the most consistent striker ever since he stepped foot at Porto both in Europe and Internationally.

Ivan a better cb than terry, luiz and cahill?
I assume you are reffering to the Porto game when he was facing Hulk and about 10 other players all on his own? If not then I have no idea where you got the idea from that he was "utterly hopeless". He played LB for the majority of the 09 and 10 season and was class, his crossing and passing were superb and easily muscled players off the ball. Your post makes it seem like he was Andre Santos like, which couldn't be further from the truth. That said I don't think we need him to play at any of the fullbacks roles, we already have Ryan and Cesar who are more than good enough.

Ivan a better cb than terry, luiz and cahill?
I wouldn't go that far but he's not as bad as people on here make out either.

Bruma ready?
I would be very, very disappointed if we let him go. He is a class defender and should already be getting games with us.

MOTM vs Swansea
Cesar and Hazard looked good I thought. I'll go for Cahill though.

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
Not sure why he wasn't taken off today, would love to know the reason cause I certainly couldn't see what he was bringing to the team today. Obviously not to blame for us not winning but he didn't help matters either. RDM bottled it in my view. Edit: Bottled the decision as to whether or not to sub him that is, not the game.

Swansea v Chelsea (PL) 03/11/12 KO 15:00 GMT
Didn't really deserve to win and they could easily have won near the end, plus I like Pablo Hernandez so I can't really complain.

I only remembered this after you mentioned it. Fair enough but still, Everton got away with a lot more.
