Taison in at Chelsea
- Lampard for life, surely?
Wish there was a way to find him.- Following our nearest and dearest rivals
RVP has his own medical team so I doubt it would have mattered where he went. Pretty sure they knew what type of player he was. I think it's that plus the fact that fans were upset at losing Granero (homegrown player) who in their eyes is just as good as Modric and to be honest, I would agree. His signing, and for that price, was just not necessary, I can't imagine it was Jose who sanctioned that deal. Would be surprised if that was the case.- Taison in at Chelsea
That's our new striker.- January Transfer Targets - Strikers
Those fans most likely got carried away when Martinez broke Falcao's record, no Porto fan in their right mind thinks he's anywhere near Falcao. I didn't like him when he first joined, first touch was awful and seemed to always fumble with the ball in the box like he wasn't sure what to do but he's improved quite rapidly in a short amount of time. He's better when he has someone playing next to him though, when upfront on his own he's not as good which is why Valera has had to move in next to him in some matches. In terms of goal scoring I would agree that Falcao and Martinez are both similar, but the main difference is Falcao has proved it at European and International level. In other aspects Falcao is more laid back compared to Martinez who just doesn't stop moving/working hard for the team. They couldn't be further apart. Is he good enough for us? Well, I think anyone is better than Torres but that aside I would say he certainly be at home in a league like the EPL and do well for us. Is he worth £20m? £20m for a 26 year old who has had one good season in a top league (Well, half a season really) and hasn't proved himself in Europe and/or Internationally seems a bit much. I don't get that same feeling I did when I watched Falcao destroy everyone in the league week in week out, I knew right away even before he played a single game in Europe that this guy was just a freak of nature. Also when you consider what that money could be put towards then it doesn't sound like the greatest of deals.- Following our nearest and dearest rivals
Luke Shaw is a complete animal, he's like 17? Damn.- Chicharito
He doesn't struggle, he's simply not good enough to start/play the whole 90 mins every match.- Following our nearest and dearest rivals
Kagawa is playing like a DM or some sh*t.- Demba Ba
Plus it's only £7m. Hardly that much of a risk. I expected them to want double figures which is why I was against us signing him but for that price I would gladly have him.- Following our nearest and dearest rivals
Felt like punching my screen at some of the crap they were spouting.- Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
Course I don't believe it, it's merely a reflection on how bad he was. It's not meant to be taken seriously.- Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
Seemed determined to ensure we lost today, good thing Lampard was having none of it.- Everton vs Chelsea (PL) 30/12/12 KO: 13:30 GMT
Mata and Hazard were both below par and were rightly taken off. Luiz was one of our better players despite him losing it a bit towards the end.- Everton vs Chelsea (PL) 30/12/12 KO: 13:30 GMT
No idea what happened in the first half but showed great character to come back and win. On the balance of play I think a win was a fair result for us, any other striker would have buried those chances Torres had.- The players seem to really like Benitez.
It would be relative to each manager. Assuming RDM had taken over two months ago and not last year and got the same results then there would be few complaints, he would be an inexperienced manager who is still learning with each game. What's there to complain about? You know what you are getting the moment he joins. Rafa on the other hand has years and years of experience and trophies to boot, the teams he's played so far are teams a manager with his experience should really have no problems dealing with. There's nothing wrong with putting Rafa results into context, it's true that the sides he's played have been very average teams. My only gripe is people who slate the performances/style and say it's no different than under RDM.- The Rafa Benitez Thread (merged)
Every manager who finds themselves with 10 men, heck even with 11 men, against Barca does the exact some thing, they pack the middle of the pitch and prevent Barca from playing through them. Everyone knows that they aren't as effective on the flanks as they are through the middle, it's not really a stroke of genius to deduct that and adjust accordingly. I think you are overselling it as some sort of tactical masterplan when really it's coming away with the victory RDM should be credited for, he clearly motivated each and every individual into giving their all and that deserves special praise. Don't think I've ever said that Rafa is a tactical genius and if it comes across as that then apologies but know that it's not my intention. I'm aware of his limitations and as mentioned already, we saw that in the West Ham game. I think he was gradually warming up to the idea of Romeu and Luiz (Which is by far our best pairing right now) in midfield but as you say, his hand was forced a bit. Not that it really matters, RDM was forced to drop Torres and yet you were giving him credit for doing so when he really had no choice if he had hoped for a win.- The Rafa Benitez Thread (merged)
Fair enough if people think that's the case but some of your reasons didn't really make sense. Agreed. Not sure what you are basing that off, his time at West Brom or here? If it's here then well, I can't agree with that. It's more like he limited himself to the point were he didn't have a choice. If it's West Brom then fair enough. Even so, I think Rafa gets as much out of a limited squad as anyone. If you are reffering to our CL run last year, I don't think getting bodies back to defend and still getting picked apart with the only saving grace being extreme luck is a factor in any managers game plan. Did well in the Napoli game and did well in getting Oscar to mark Pirlo, so he clearly has some ideas, but apart from that I can't recall any other fantastic game plans of his in Europe. We looked well and truly average in Europe under him this season. You know there's something wrong when you can identify the problems mins before the match has even started. While I gave him props for doing that while we had no other strikers at the time (Danny was injured), if he really wasn't afraid he would have dropped him a long time ago and we would probably still have Sturridge. And no, I'm not blaming Sturridge leaving on RDM just in case people get the wrong idea. Can't disagree with that, I was as baffled as anyone. We should have scored like 4 or 5 goals in that game so I wouldn't say the tactics were the problem, it was the finishing. That said, into the second half we did capitulate and Rafa has to take his share in the blame for that. There were so many factors that affected that it's not even worth going into. Assuming the situation was the same, there were very few managers out there that would have been able to improve Inter at that time. Agreed. That would only matter if I actually cared about the wins he gets or the teams he gets them from, I'm just looking from the teams perspective and there are some improvements. Nothing ground breaking that RDM couldn't have achieved (Although they are different managers tactically and both have different preferences shown in the way both have treated Romeu and Apzi for example so it's probably not 100% correct to say that) but improvements nonetheless.- The Rafa Benitez Thread (merged)
I don't think anyone honestly thinks he's a better manager than Rafa but then again that's not really the point.- The Rafa Benitez Thread (merged)
Same. One man isn't worth all this hassle. Certainly not enough to affect the way I feel about the club.- Following our nearest and dearest rivals
Rodgers doesn't half talk some sh*t; Creating a good team is like creating a good meal but oh wait, he's not a good cook...- Random Rumours
Don't think his finishing is what should be questioned, it's whether or not he's worth the £17m Sevilla seem to want (April fools or not anyone who pays that gets him). I would say no personally but I would still be content if we got him for that. Certinately better than Ba, Bent, etc anyway who would come at a similar fee.- Random Rumours
It is but I would hardly think that classifies as an April fools story, they tried to sell him in the summer and more importantly, he's actually good. If anyone was to bid that much for him Sevilla would send him packing without a second thought, they need the money. I wanted him in the summer personally and I would still take him now.- César 'Dave' Azpilicueta
Done everything I've expected from him, I was never impressed with his attacking play beforehand so I didn''t get my hopes up but defensively not many got the better of him in France and that seems to be the case here as well. Wouldn't go as far as to say his crossing is fantastic, he's currently the best at it at our club but that's only because no one else can cross properly.- Following our nearest and dearest rivals

Yeah, that's what I meant. Probably didn't explain myself well. - Lampard for life, surely?
