Time to unleash Moses down the middle !

Featured Replies

Before Moses made his first team debut for Palace he had an outstanding goal every start for England U17 youth set up as a Centre Forward, his raw pace frightening international defences to the max.

His development at Palace though less prolific saw him score bicycle kicks and tap in's making the gamble to take him to Wigan a safe one.

Of course he has continued that wide birth to produce three excellent Chelsea performances out of the top drawer.

He has a lot more pace than Torres, more awareness and composure than Sturridge.

With Hazard, Oscar and Mata clearly our best three - I believe adding Moses to a Central role would be breathtaking ...

It is something worth trying, nothing ventured nothing gained, and as plan A or B does not seem to be getting much joy, (goal wise) it would certainly do no harm in trying a different avenue.

Worth a try though by doing so I could see Danny being less than impressed.

More composure than Sturridge? How so?

He didn't look all that great down the middle for Wigan and his finishing is too erratic for him to be a lone striker. Worth a try I guess, he's fairly decent as a striker because his of movement and he is always trying to play off the shoulder the defender but without a partner up front with him he does look lost.

what was plan B?

what was plan B?

Rubbing a lamp and hoping for Drogba to appear.

Remodez, composure wise I feel Danny snatches at shots, particularly when trying to shift the ball to his favoured left foot thus losing that smooth finish.

I think Sturridge should get more of a chance. He didn't play well against United but he can definitely score goals. On top of that we've got Lukaku. Moses should be next in line after them.

No but he didn't play for 120 mins.

Neither are going to lead the line for us going into the future from what I have seen since both have arrived.

Its funny people are saying Studge didnt play well but he still scored. Can the say be said for Torres?

Well he has scored 6 goals this season and I am betting he didn't play well in all 6 games so yes you probably can.

Untill Sturridge gets a run of 10 odd games as the starting centre forward I think it is alsmot impossible to compare their stats.

Based on current form and ability, our strikers are just not good enough. Thats the bottom line.

Why? if we were to do away with Torres, why not play Mata and Oscar/Hazard through the middle with Moses on the wing where he can rip it up.. I much prefer this idea in fact than bringing danny in.

kind of like a false number 9. Why not?

Unfortunately Moses was not bought to plug that gap unless needed. Lukaku is our long term prospect for that position. Moses game is based on trickery and pace...the correct position for him is as a wide forward

Not a bad idea really, but only as a sub after Studge has had his turn I think.

After all, he has waited for a go in the middle & while he's been mostly pants so far,he's only had 5 mins of football so it might be worth giving him a run of games to get his eye in as they say.

At least we'll get the chance to see if he's got the qualities needed for a long term future with the club before the January transfer saga begins.

Not against the idea of playing Moses down the middle at all, though I believe that he'll be best for us out wide in the long term. I would rather give Sturridge a fair crack first up front. I'm done with Torres.

I never had faith in Danny in the middle if he was happy to stay on the wing that would have been great, but his unhealthy obsession with playing in the middle means he should go come january IF we can get a decent striker in.

Moses could be worth a try but only after Studge has been given a chance. In reality though if we were to play Torres and Studge in the same team we could be the first side to play to false no 9s, both flatter to decieve in what is a vital role in the team.
