following the ball is one aspect that is expected of him but what i was getting at is his anticipation of patterns of play. instead of following the ball the majority of the time he would be better served if he followed the potential play of certain danger players where he can intercept or disrupt or play them out of danger areas. the only reason i said this is that his many detractors are always complaining 'why is he not in the danger area?' and the reason why is when he follows the ball (which is not in a danger area) a pass or cross has been made to the attended target and he is left stranded. i am fully aware we have defenders and other players to cover but i would love to see mikel not follow the ball so much but to anticipate and follow potential dangerous moves which will allow for less pressure. if he did i doubt if saurez would of made such a good pass to sturridge for his goal.

i don't know if anybody has noticed that mikel follows the ball in the vast majority of his play. this is effective to a point but when you have players with clever movement he is caught like a rabbit in headlights!

all this talk about us not making the champions league is just wild speculation!! so what if we still have manure and spuds! manure are nothing special and spuds were just lucky that they caught citeh cold! i cannot for the life of me see us not getting 3rd in spite of the fsw! every player that have been mentioned have a high possibility of leaving and that will not be because we did not qualify for the champions league but because of the changes that are coming. i doubt our most potentially talented young players who are out on loan or are on the fringes will get sold because a lot of time and money has been spent to bring and educate them at the club. whoever does get the managerial position will be in an enviable position because we are the most untapped club in talent which is at his disposal.

having seen it i am of the opinion that when they are running up blind alleys they tend to try the impossible and therefore lose possesion. if we have a player of alonso's abilty i believe we would keep the ball for much longer periods which would allow us to have more attacking options without losing possesion.

i and everyone here would love it if jose comes back! everyone can speculate as much as their heart is content due to the gloom that is the bridge! the reality is nobody knows anything of what the future holds. there is way too many factors to consider before anything is concrete. the hierarchy that is abramovich's bootlickers have not changed much since jose left. i cannot see jose being too jolly about that! they have either got to go or assurances have to be made to ensure jose does not feel he is undermined.then we come to real madrid who are (whether we like it or not) are truely one of the biggest prestigious football clubs in the world. they have the chance of doing a cup double and the champion league is their bunny! we all know results changes the minds and winning the champion league can do just that. still i and everyone can dream!
