I don't think confidence has anything to do with it.
Torres just isn't a very good player, he wasn't at Liverpool but the fact the team was built around him and he had pace helped cover up his flaws such as his poor first touch and inability to hold the ball up. Now that his pace is gone he's finished as a footballer.

    Nothing to do with that.
I refuse to support most of the players such as Ferdinand and Gerrard and the FA is full of cnuts. That's the heads and tails of it.

I've seen him 8/9 times and i've been very impressed, obviously it would be a huge step up for him but I don't think he would be any worse than Torres in the majority of games so I fully support the notion that he should be given a chance to impress.A young player with hunger and desire would make a huge difference to our team IMO even if he only gets 15/20 minutes towards the end of games.
If we go 2 up top having Feruz play with a strike partner such as Ba against weaker opposition at home would be a great way to introduce him into the team.
I can't see FSW or Roman advocating dropping Torres for Feruz though so it's likely irrelevant.

Didn't lose us the game but could have won it for us......needless to say he failed.
Doesn't even resemble a professional footballer. I'd be willing to bet that there are at least 20 strikers in the Scottish division 2 who could make more of a contribution to our cause,

Honestly the worst striker in the league.   Can't think of 1 other player i wouldn't swap him for.

And the Torres fan boys are here. Nice to see the personal insults perhaps you should aim them at your idol.
The man is a cancer and is the single biggest problem with the club aside from Romans itchy trigger finger which can be forgiven as Roman has put a lot into the club and genuinely wants it to succeed. Torres doesn't, he just doesn't care and is happy to collect his unbelievably high pay check while giving little back to the club or it's fans.
I can't stand the man he's mentally weak and doesn't work hard enough to compensate, but I'm also angry we signed him. I didn't rate him much at Liverpool when he was scoring. The whole team was se up for him and he still didn't look that impressive, in his prime I wouldn't say he was worth more than 30 Million but a clearly finished Torres costing 50 Million? Madness.
As soon as he is forced out we can get back on the right track, until then this joke of a players shadow will hang over the whole club including the manager who will be tasked with getting the best out of a player who isn't good enough for the championship.

I respect your posts and your opinion Tommy, the opinions of Shedpensioner and Bluehatter mean nothing to me, Bluehatter strikes me as a Liverpool fan who has came here because he likes Torres and I just can't take Shedpensioner seriously based on his previous posts.
You make some good points and as I've acknowledged it is not Torres's fault we paid 50M for him or offered him such an inflated wage that is the clubs hierarchy which has prior history of making somewhat astonishing decisions. What is the fault of our Spanish "friend" is what he does on the pitch, I can forgive him for being below the standards expected of him as I've never rated him anyway. I've always thought of him as an average player with a poor first touch but one with good movement off the ball, ehat I can't forgive him for is his lack of effort on the pitch. He doesn't play for the shirt. He doesn't play for the fans. He doesn't try to earn his money. If I could see Torres trying hard every game I'd have much less reason to criticise him, instead I often see a player sulking his way through games and expecting his team mates to carry him. He was the only striker at the club until Ba came in
(Sturridge was often injured and didn't get much of a look in anyway) so he should have been the one to step up.
Torres has also led to a huge change in the playing staff with players such as Hazard, Mata, Oscar and Marin coming in to assist him. All fine players in their own right in particular the first 3 but they've been brought in to get the best put of Nando. He hasn't performed.
Drogba, Kalou and Anelka have all made way for him to be the main striker. It was argued that he could only perform at his peak when he had no competition and felt assured of starting. He hasn't performed.
Ancelotti who in my opinion is the best full time manager we've had since Mourinho was sacked because he couldn't get the best out of him and Di Matteo who was a good up and coming manager also felt the axe as a result of not getting Torres firing. These things are not only Torres's fault but Romans as well.
We've got the FSW mainly because of Torres and he still doesn't give a f**k. I can't accept this and can't see a way for the club to move on while this joke is here.
I'm not blinded by Hatred but maybe I am by passion and it hurts to see my passion not being replicated by our record signing.

We all have our opinions to say someone should be banned for seeing Torres as a cancerous figure at the club shows how pathetic society is.. If your offended by that sort of comment then I highly suggest starting a new forum for people of a easily insulted nature.
I see Torres as such within our club. His attitude and his role, not of his choice, is what led to RDM going and FSW coming in. FSW was bought in, without any question of a doubt, to get Torres firing... Even he has failed. His attitude is not that of a hungry players who wants to do fight tooth and nail to find his form. I have said it before he is similar to Berbatov except Berbatov has the ability.
Torres is done in English football. It is too quick for him. He needs to go back to Spain, back to Atletico to feel the love etc.
He along with others at our club are the root cause of this whole situation therefore I have every right to say they are a cancerous root in our club!

But Torres only scores once we are 3-0 or so up and the game is won.

despite the fact almost all his goals have come against bottom feeder clubs I can't recall Torres ever scoring the equaliser or breaking the deadlock against weak opposition (Villa aside).

I'm 100% certain he wouldn't have made those runs just as i'm certain big Petr Cech wouldn't have bagged a hatrick if he played - some things just don't happen.

The way he plays he is not our player. He does more for the opposition that he does for us.

We have to play him every game because if we have a second striker in the team he sulks and goes into his shell, doesn't care if we win, cries to the media.

Inconsistency?  Inconsistency? I think he's been consistent.  Consistently sh*te.  Consistently laughable.  Consistently invisible.   You can say many things about that useless sack of sh*te we play up front but it would be an injustice to say he isn't consistent.

Darren Bent has always been a better player.  Said it when Torres signed and the only thing that's changed is Torres has got worse.
