Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
as previously mentioned in posts, moving him on may possibly become the next big hurdle? Imagine being stuck with Torres for the duration of his Contract and this continuing situation (impacting both Team & Manager(s) & us, the fans) continuing for years to come? ... It's truly unbearable ... surely somethings gotta' give by latest season end, hasn't it?

http://www.weaintgotnohistory.com/2013/1/10/3859766/rafa-benitez-throw-fernando-torres-under-the-bus-chelsea-fc Link to another really good (CFC blog) post titled ... "Rafa Benitez won't throw Fernando Torres under the bus, but it's time to sit him on the bench"

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
A really good post! U never know, this may finally be the turning point because I suspect 'more of the same' from Torres will no longer be tolerated from a significant chunk of stadium supporters?

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
I think we needed Ba & Lukaku (1st & 2nd choice strikers) going forward ... not gonna' happen tho' ... lost opportunity by the Club, yet again! Now that the paying fans have a clear comparasion week in, week out (Ba vs Torres) the booing may only get worse? Plus, I suspect this thread, at times may go into melt down? Can't see us coming back from 2-0 ... The first half, in particular we deserved more ... Ba had an instant impact. Very unlucky with the disallowed goal too. A strange game to watch! Things are so desperate with Torres now the Club need an emergency meeting to immediately discuss ... I doubt they will ...

England's CFC support.
Any enjoyable tales following England, home or abroad trips, as a CFC supporter, back in the bad 'good 'ol days ... :O) It is well documented that England had a good CFC turn-out, at times for many years by all accounts. Any memories shared would be very appreciated ...

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
Nailed it ... spot on imho ... Ba scores twice on his debut. Torres takes approx. 8 months in a blue shirt to score 2 premiership goals & still he's defended to the hilt by blind devotion from some fans. The favourtism shown towards him by the Club & some fans has been unbelievable, at times despite over-whelming evidence he's totally lost it on the pitch. No wonder there's frustration building up & a clear split amongst us fans. Although finally I think most are now in agreement that he ought to go. However, it's taken months & months for the penny to finally drop for many. Ps. I'm 100% sure Torres is a wonderful guy ... At the end of the day Torres will leave this Club financially set-up for life ... what have we, the fans got from this relationship? Very little & 100s of forum pages fiercely debated, often splitting us, the fans. Good ridence imho ...

Chelsea v Swansea (COC SF 1st Leg) 09/01/13 KO 19:45 GMT
i really enjoyed watching the swansea arsenal game ... both good teams and in-form, at the mo' Wednesday night ... we have to bury the few chances that come our way (to take hold of this game) otherwise the home leg may prove very tricky indeed? Just don't think Torres is capable and I suspect he'll definitely start?

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, positive or negative! Personally, I think Torres has influenced many of the very questionable board decisions documented in detail on this thread & elsewhere. The Club have certainly pampered to his every need without the end result! Therefore, I can totally understand the 'frustrations' of many posters on here directed towards Torres. It seems Torres is directly or indirectly responsible for many of the on-field & off-field issues affecting this Club. I don't think opinion is that divided tbh. I suspect most of us would prefer the Club moves on from the Torres (mis-firing) years. It's just that we all express this quite differently ...

Can we call thus season a success if...
Considering everything there have been some fantastic results during the season, so far ... Winning the League Cup could definitely be regarded as a success ... Beating Woves, Man Utd. & Leeds in the manner we did was good. If we get through a tough semi vs Swansea & then beat probably Villa in the final ... I think all that would equal a well earned trophy ... I'd love us to win the Europa Cup ... there are a lot of strong Teams in it this year. Would love to get Spurs in the final. Now that would be special! A top 4 place finish would be an achievement too considering all the upheaval, so far this season. FA Cup would be a dream ...

10 worst signings
I thought Torres had already finished playing football ... several years ago in fact! No doubt, in the future the occasional game Torres will pipe up ... but unfortunately, "missing in action" the general norm' will always return. I'd love to be proven wrong on a regular basis ... but several seasons have passed, not just with Chelsea ... and it's there for the world to see.

Chelsea v Swansea (COC SF 1st Leg) 09/01/13 KO 19:45 GMT
This will be a couple of tough games methinks. I'd definitely take a 2-0 home win to Swansea, if at all possible. However, I think we will make hard work of our home leg, esp. if we don't take our chances. Games can be won or lost by very fine margins. Therefore, for me ... I hope Ba starts on Wednesday. This is a competition I have really enjoyed this year ... Wolves, Man Utd & Leeds were very good games to watch. I hope we can win this, this year. Chelsea vs Villa final ... fingers crossed!

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
The negativity towards Torres on *ALL* Chelsea forums, not just this one is simply "overwhelming". So many TRUE Chelsea fans have simply had enough of such an over-paid, over-rated, generally 'piss poor' prima donna who continues to hold this Team back. The favouritism shown by this Club towards Torres, since his arrival (to the detriment of many other players) absolutely stinks! I honestly cannot think of another CFC Player that has divided opinion, quite like Torres and I have supported Chelsea through 'thick & thin' for a very, very long time. The day Torres leaves this Club ... we will ALL breath a huge sigh of relief!

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
I'm afraid the time has come for positive action from us, the fans ... before this enigma destroys this Club ... Fine margins win games and every single time Torrid dons a CFC shirt he 100% ain't the answer ... I will personally applaud the 1st ... F**K OFF TORRES ... !!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH banner I see at the Bridge ... I'm afraid if Roman can't see what the whole Country can see it's now come to this ... Even the Torres 'love fest' fans have now surely had enough too ... u can't keep defending the undefendable. Get this ladyboy twat out of our Club ... Personally, I cannot stand the site of him.
-
Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
The sooner Torrid leaves the better ... he's divided this Club & us, the supporters like no other! ... Personally, I think he's holding the Team back 'big time' ... The continued constant favourtism shown by the Club towards him MUST be dividing/destroying the dressing room. I know I'm sick of it! The occasional & I mean occasional good game AIN'T good enough ... Generally, for most of the time he has been piss poor ... a massive disappointment ... full stop!

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
Torrid ... the worst signing in premiership history !!! He now needs to be forced out by us, the fans ... he's held this Team back long enough ... I'm sick to death of the site of him ...

Loyal supporters! Tales of trips to the likes of Carlisle, Oldham, Rotherham, Shrewsbury, Wrexham, Preston, etc.
1983-84 - Division 2 - Cambridge United Away Won 1-0 This was the year we went up as Division 2 Champions and our away support during this season, at times was just incredible. Phenomenal to be honest! Many a ground was literally swamped by the CFC travelling masses ... 100% definitely including this away trip too! What an eventful away day this turned out to be! We left Middlesex, early doors packed in a big Ford transit van. We were literally packed together like sardines, head to toe. A mass of mangled, beer'd up bodies. All drinking, singing & farting together, hehe! Just how it used to be! A mixture of young un's & those that should definitely have known better! Travelling up the M11 was great fun. Loads of CFC coaches passed us on route including a particular boisterous coach with a Lewisham CFC Union Jack flag in the back window (anyone on here?). The compulsory Motorway (hard shoulder) piss stop occurred. Approx. 20 CFC geezers descended from the bowels of the van. We all lined up together and relieved ourselves besides the carriageway! God knows what the other Road users thought! I guess, they were used to this behaviour back then. Everyone scrambled back in the van & off we set on our merry way. After just a few minutes the driver thrust the accelerate hard down to veer into the outside lane. Unbeknown to us, the back door hadn't been secured. Suddenly, I find myself flying out of the back and rolling along the carriageway. I remember seeing field, concrete, field, concrete, field, concrete, feeling quite relaxed about this bizarre event & also hearing the sound of screeching cars. Fortunately for me, I eventually came to a gentle stop. That was until heavyweight George came rolling into me with an almighty thud! George sat up then & there quite complexed! He examined his can of beer & pronounced loudly to a handful of prostate bodies lying in the carriageway that he haven't spilt a drop! With that he placed the can to his lips and carried on drinking. I remember one of the other lads complaining not to be moved because he had hurt his back. But somehow, we all gingerly picked ourselves up, brushed ourselves down and hobbled back to the awaiting van. No sympathy from the other lads. Not at all! The doors were wide open & they were roaring with laughter. Other Road users had disembarked from their cars in astonishment, probably to help us. We sang them all a Chelsea song ... the doors were slammed shut ... & with that we sped off on our way to Cambridge! On arriving, we parked in an industrial estate and walked to the ramshackle shed of a ground. There were Chelsea literally everywhere. I honestly didn't see a single Cambridge United fan outside the ground! Interestingly, a policeman approached me and said I should immediately hide my CFC scarf! What a strange request, I thought! Surely, he should be directing his concerns at any Cambridge United fans around. I didn't feel in any danger whatsoever. In fact, the complete opposite. I now know where his "genuine" concerns had come from. This was the game where Cambridge United's mob, lead by a chap known as 'the General' had lead some very early doors Chelsea supporters into a military precision style ambush & a few Chelsea fans had been seriously hurt. To be honest, I don't think CFC even realised Cambridge had a mob & if that stunt had been attempted at the time of our arrival, with 1000's of CFC lads descending upon the stadium & milling around I suspect that early ambush outcome would have been entirely different? The queue to get in was just unbelievable. All Chelsea. We arrived 15 mins before kick off & the hopelessly inadequate stadium was already full to capacity. We finally got in just before half time! And behind us there were still 100's of CFC queuing. Upon entering the stadium we just couldn't move. mohican Chris & I somehow managed to squeeze our way to the front of the side terracing running the length of the pitch. Chelsea fans dominated & packed three quarters of the ground easily. I think the official attendance was 11.000 but there were probably 11,000 CFC there that day! An unbelievable turn out, once again! This was an important promotion game and we were 1-0 up. With about 15 minutes to go it was all Cambridge and an equalizer looked inevitable. To be honest, you couldn't concentrate on the football the crush in the stands was that ridiculous. If fences had been erected this could have been disastrous. A young black Cambridge player took a throw-in just in front of me and a bottle whizzed past his head. It missed by inches. The Coppers didn't even budge. What could they do. We were packed that tightly they couldn't get to the culprit and if an arrest had been attempted they would have had a riot on there hands. With 5 mins to go & Cambridge all over us & the crush now beyond a joke something had to give! One could sense it in the air. A huge black fella behind me shouted "on the pitch" & with that mohican Chris was the very first over the wall followed by myself. Chris got caught by the old bill but I got though. The whole CFC masses were obviously thinking exactly the same and a chain reaction followed. CFC swamped on from all directions and within seconds you couldn't see the pitch for bodies. The ref. immediately blew for full time & that thankfully was that. The pitch invasion almost turned ugly when the vastly outnumbered old bill where almost set upon but thankfully common sense prevailed. A third of the CFC on the pitch made an attempt to rush the home covered terrace. It was a piss take really and they stopped on route. However, this was enough to empty the entire Cambridge end in record time. It was just like watching an old cinematic movie reel being played backwards, the end evaporated that quickly ... And that was my recollections of Cambridge away ...

Loyal supporters! Tales of trips to the likes of Carlisle, Oldham, Rotherham, Shrewsbury, Wrexham, Preston, etc.
Back in the bad "good ol days" Chelsea's most loyal travelled to some *god forsaken* places in support of the lads! Would be very interested to here your stories ... ground visited ... journey up ... CFC numbers taken ... opposition supporters ... how bad was the stadium ... stadium atmosphere (inside & out) ... lost in transit! ... break downs! ... most entertaining moments! ... etc. etc. etc. :O)

Leeds 83
I took the train down to the South coast that day and the CFC turn-out was just superb! In fact, Pompey admit in their book that it was Chelsea's day that day too :O) ... During those 'back in the day' years Cardiff, Pompey, Leeds & Man City never reciprocated the massive turn-outs we took to them ...

Leeds v Chelsea (League Cup) 19/12/12 KO 19:45
Great result tonight ... :O) All really good goals too ... with lovely build-up play, at times ... Pleased for Moses in particular. I think he's growing into the Team nicely! In fact, enjoyed the game as a whole, even the first half. I thought Bertrand had a really good game today ... hope his injury is only minor? Better from Lamps too ... Well taken goal from Torres but still looks out of sorts to me. Overall, very satisfying tho! Swansea away second leg ... hmmm ... will not be easy. Personally, would have preferred Villa home and away to the Swans.

Leeds 83
Yep, that's the huge CFC away mob at L**ds! Top to bottom! (both pics) ... Looked amazing when in complete unison the whole lot stood up together for "10 men went to mow" ... this was the Year also that our mob completely swamped the likes of Man City, Cardiff & Pompey away ... :O)
