Mate, we are all human. The bloke's probably not drank all season, and his team have won the CL, La Liga, and the Spannish CUp, all of which I am sure he played an integral part in.

One night of celebration with his team mates I think is fine. Sure he's taken it a little far, but that's what Champagne does for you..sneaks up on you hard, especially if you've drank very little all season

There is nothing wrong with getting bevvied! Many 'good citizens' do it! The lad has just been part of one of the most successful seasons in his club's history and now has a break to relax - if I was him I would be doing the same thing.

I dread the day when the world gets so prim that a bloke in their early twenties is condemned for going out and just gettibg wellied. He hasn't got in a fight, smashed up cars, been caught in bed with a donkey called Brenda or done his elephant impression to a passing bus of school girls - he has just got pissed and had a good, and harmless, night out.

Do it behind closed doors. In my opinion, Football players should serve as examples for good citizens, especially world players of the year..

I've never understood this at all. A footballer's job is to play football to the best of his ability for the club he represents, no more, no less.

If a child needs a role model, then that should be provided by older members of his/her family - it's what families are supposed to do, after all - and maybe staff members of their school.

Meh, it's just me. I don't have problems with drinking, I do it too, it's just that I don't see the point in getting wasted just because your team just won the CL. I think a sober message is worth more for the fans, after that, I would drink away.

Just get wasted because your team won the CL? Christ I get wasted if Chelsea beat Macc Town in the FA Cup. In fact I get wasted to celebrate it being a day of the week.

How can he give a sober message to the fans and how often does he have to do it? Not only that how do you know he didn't? That was a few minutes clip on Youtube, it has been a aeek since the CL final and I bet there has been a number of ceremonies etc since then where he has been as sober as Mary Whitehouse on a Sunday.

I agree with Bluebeard. Any parent who looks to footballers as role models is taking lazy parenting to pretty extreme level - they may as well look to british MPS!

He is the best player in the world, playing for a highly successful club, rich beyond his wildest dreams, just won 3 major trophies and he is idolised by the Barcelona fans. I think he has a right to be jolly. Plus, he's only flippin 21!! MY AGE FFS!! Wheres my money and success?! I get an office job and diabetes.

Still, I guess I am slightly lazier.

Now that sounds a good night.

pretty much agree with everything written here in his defence.

and he managed to stay on his feet throughout the whole clip (lucky del'horno wasnt there)

Looked like a f**king Smurf in that hat though
