Basically he has been offered a new contract to extend his current deal which expires at the end of this year but he is going to see what happens this season before he decides whether or not to sign it.

I don't think he is ever going to be good enough to be a regular first team starter but I don't mind having him as a squad player as he has proved to be useful coming off the bench sometimes. If he is happy with being a squad player then I would be happy for him to extend his stay. If he wants more than that then he would be better moving on.

Yeah agreed. Ive made my feelings perfectly clear about Kalou and nothing has changed.

He seems a good guy and a half decent squad player but i never see anything from him that i dont think a reserve or youth player could offer and it has often frustrated me that he was picked ahead of a Di Santo, Stoch etc and now it seems Sturridge. He isnt that quick, his finishing is average, he isnt strong, not that good in the air. I could go on.

A good way to judge a player is to imagine them lining up against you and if i saw Kalou in an opposition shirt line up at Stamford Bridge, it simply wouldn't concern me in the slightest.

Can't believe that we have let his contract run down to 12 months. this probably means that he could go in jan for free.

Arsenal were appantley showing an interest in him during the summer but that seems to have died a death. I hate the thought of

them picking him up for nothing just to unload him for a tidy profit.

I don't think he will ever be a first team regular but he is a good squad member who has chipped in with some important goals.

Is he trying to decide between plumber and road sweeper?

In all seriousness, I echo what has already been said. He's nowhere near good enough for the first team, and doesn't look like he's going to improve any further. He's falling behind people like Di Santo and Sturridge, as well as young spritely fellows like Sheva, and I do think it's time for him to move on. He could well do a job for a bottom half Premiership team.

tell him theres a job in the local tesco`s bakery going, he can have that. hes the epitome of "average". average pace, average shot, average passing, average dribbling.

If he wants to go, in theory that's fine, but that will then leave us short up front assuming Sheva won't really play that big a part, so I hope we have someone lined up if there's even a chance that he'll go in the next week or so.

Or we could have just kept Franco and not have had to worry as much. And then he probably wouldn't be injured at sodding Blackburn.

I think giving him a new contract will be a bad idea. His presence will definitely come in the way of some of our youngsters' chance of getting a few first team games and it's not like he is going to get dramatically better in a year or two. We should be promoting Sturridge to his role, who I believe is more than capable of coming off the bench and making a difference, and get another or two reserves into the first team squad for backup.

Should have sold him this Summer, letting him go for a free in pretty stupid - considering its been obvious for a while that he is a substitute player at best. Also telling that the majority of us would rather a 19 year old barely tested in the league to come on than Kalou.

Average he may be but legend he will always be for putting THAT cross on Jon Arne Riise's head

Reminds me a great chant bout this guy:

anyway I think we should let him stay. He has scored some vital goals sometimes for us and he is a great sub

Can"t really add to anything that has already been said. He's a decent player, and seems like a nice enough bloke, but can mess some chances up (which he may put away with more playing time but I've yet to see any evidence of that). He can run down more blind alleys than Tevez, and he's not that pacy. Good player, but I think we've gotten all out of him that we can. Shame we didn't offload him in the summer, make some money from him, and then give Di Santo or Sturridge a shot instead
