I'd like to think Eidur didn't come back to the Prem because of his former career with Chelsea and close connections still here. Whether that is true or not, who knows. Hope he does well at Monaco, I think he is still quality enough to play at top level.

while I am pleased I won't have to suffer seeing guddy playing against us, i can't help but think he's wasted the last few years of his career...sat on the bench at barca and now playing micky mouse football in france...he could have left barca sooner but preferred the lifestyle and paycheck (understandable to a degree) over professional ambition...i'm sure he could have moved to a better club than monaco, but again obviously his football career is bottom of his list of priorities...it's a shame when you think how good a player he was for us and I just think he never lived up to the potential he had...and now never will

But how much money do you think he lost when Iceland went into financial meltdown? It was reported at the time that he'd lost millions.

Playing in England now equates to 50% tax, one of the factors in him choosing to go abroad I'd imagine.

Having said that I do agree, I think he's wasted his talent over tha past few seasons, and is basically picking up a pension, in footballing terms, in Monaco.
