now ballack out injured, they are mounting up to key players all at once, the one good thing is joe cole will get a chance to shine and show capello the boy is magic....

I have every faith in Joey too mate, but it's tough when most of teh regulars around him are dropping like flies

I wonder if Mikel is going to get another chance? maybe he will raise his game and show Carlo he can do a job

So at this rate the starting XI vs Wolves is gonna be:

Cech

Ivanovic

Carvalho

Alex

Zhirkov

Mikel

Essien

Deco/Belletti

J Cole

Anelka

Kalou

I'm glad I'm gonna be drunk...

Ballacks injury isnt serious. Im optimistic about him starting against Wolves. I think his injury might just be fake because he doesnt want to play already because of Enkes death.

Drogba is going to start tomorrow against Germany, which means he will also be able to play against Wolves !!

Sorry, but that really isn't a bad team at all - I'm not trying to knock Wolves here, but with that starting XI I'd expect 3 points. One or two players aside, I honestly think most of those would walk into the Wolves starting XI with relative ease...

I know on the other thread I don't come across as being a huge fan of Mikel, but I would seriously like to see him come good for us. Lets face it, a fair number of the currevt starting 11 won't be around in another season or so's time so we are relying on the likes of Mikel to step up and be around for a good few years to come.

That said, Wolves at home is exactly the sort of game where a defensive midfielder is a complete waste of a position, so I hope he gets to show what he can do attacking wise.

You seem so pessimisstic for the game, it's hilarious :D

I would be glad to see him just get a game at the moment, not that I think for a minute on any form he has yet shown for us (maybe barring 4 or 5 games) he deserves a regular first team place but with the injuries we have it would be nice to see Carlo has him somewhere in his plans,

I thought he would have a good season this time round and believed he showed enough in the extended run he had last term to boost his confidence and make him feel he deserved his place..the re-emergence of Ballack who has been great this season and a fit again Essien make this a very hard midfield to get into .

As you say a defensive mid against Wolves (only Wolves -_- ) isn't warranted so maybe he will play a bit further up the pitch, I don't know if he has the skill to play more attacking in this League but it would be nice to find out.

I hope he at least is on the bench and gets a bit of game time as he IMO is still worth a long look before the Club think about letting him go.. I feel it could be the same mistake as letting go of Diarra except to my knowledge Mikel has never said he wants away.

Ka....kuta? you never know!

Would be more than happy with that one. But I know its only a fantasy for now.

Mikel is probably capable of playing further up the field than he has to date. He is very strong and fast on the ball even if he doesn't cover the ground with the ball the way Essien does.

I'm concerned about the injuries we have now but also with how tired players like Anelka, Deco and Riccy will be from the international fixtures. Again its not just the physical tiredness from big games but also the mental letdown of having seen your country qualify and then having to get up for wolves.
