April 25, 201016 yr i've recently got hold of a set of james bond audio books - i've always preferred the books to the films, i think you only live twice is my favourite, it has an atmosphere that's totally missing in the film of the same name. reading the books in order also gives you a far better overall picture of bond's career. the films were filmed well out of order, casino royale was the first of the books, quantam of solace was a short story, the first film, doctor no is something like the 5th or 6th of the books and so on. but anyway, i'm working my way through the books in order, so far i've listened to casino royale, the fist but not the best of the james bond books, and am currently around two thirds of the way through live and let die, the second in the series, a vast improvement on it's predecessor - and more memorable and better in every (in my opinion) than the film of the same name. id love to hear those - am a huge fan of the books too. my fave prob being From Russia With Love, but as you say You Only Live Twice is fantastic - too very different from the movie. I love the shorts stories too, Property Of A Lady , For Your Eyes Only etc
April 25, 201016 yr Something Old From my hip hop years! It was all sooooo much better back then. Something new - Jesse is great as a solo artist and ive always been a big fan but he is now back working with a full band and all the better for it. A lot of people here seem to like The Gaslights, this is right up that street.

I love the shorts stories too, Property Of A Lady , For Your Eyes Only etc i got the lot on a torrent if you're interested. i don't do torrents often but this one was really easy to get. it doesn't include the short stories though, just the first 15 novels, beginning with casino royale and ending with colonel sun, which was co-written by ian fleming with kingsley amis. i haven't read all the books and this is the perfect way of catching up. i think it was the garden of death scene from you only live twice in particular that fired my imagination. also, i've got a um... special memory of the spy who loved me (which incidentally is read by rula lenska) which i started reading when i was about 12... my mother took it off me."you don't want to read that, it's all about sex" she told me. ... er whatever you say mum. i never knew, honest!!
April 25, 201016 yr God! He was gorgeous. he's quite old here, but still gorgeous! How about Julio? Did you like him? Here he is singing one of my mom's favourite songs.

Live and Let Die, the film; is a travesty!
April 26, 201016 yr Something Old From my hip hop years! It was all sooooo much better back then. Listeing to 'Pac at the moment. They don't make sh*t like this anymore.
April 26, 201016 yr Live and Let Die, the film; is a travesty! Sacrilege! The finest boat chase in fine boat chase history!

I forgot about The Spy Who Loved Me. What a great book, really different from the others, and obviously very different from the movie. Not sure about the sex though! Yeah the link for the torrent would be fantastic, cheers mate!
April 26, 201016 yr On No, Randy! No Julio Iglesias - almost as bad as Enya! I need another antidote:
April 26, 201016 yr Pandora BX - If We Ever Meet Again (Hans-O-Matik Bigroom Electro Mix) Brilliant tune, especially in the car.
April 26, 201016 yr Live and Let Die, the film; is a travesty! What??? It's one of my favourite Bond movies, though I must admit the reason is solely down to Jane Seymour looking gorgeous throughout :)
April 26, 201016 yr On No, Randy! No Julio Iglesias - almost as bad as Enya! I need another antidote: moi, I guess you didn't know that long before his career in music, Julio, while attending Law School in Madrid spent a short period as goalkeeper with Real Madrid. But due to a car accident in 1963 he was forced to give up football. So if he didn't have the accident you would have been spared listening to his voice. By the way, do you like Willie Nelson?
April 26, 201016 yr What??? It's one of my favourite Bond movies, though I must admit the reason is solely down to Jane Seymour looking gorgeous throughout :) oh it's not that bad a film.. but as with most, or even all the bond movies, the book is better in every way. there've been some cracking bond birds over the years though, all the way from ursula andress to .. well take your pick! i mentioned that the garden of death scene from "you only live twice"? of course there was far more in the book to excite my imagination... how could i ever possibly forget kissy suzuki and her black cat!
April 27, 201016 yr What??? It's one of my favourite Bond movies, though I must admit the reason is solely down to Jane Seymour looking gorgeous throughout Only good thing in it. It's not good otherwise. It's a travesty trying to fit bond into the "blackspoitation" movies of the time, just not fitting in my mind. That and the one that see Connery return, that isn't even a true "Bond" movie
April 27, 201016 yr There is a slight danger in taking Bond films too seriously! Worst thing that ever happened to the Bond films (Timothy Dalton aside) was when they started building stories around things like media moguls etc. They should have stuck with good old east vs west, cold war based story lines. I know they wanted to move on because the cold war has no more but they were comical works of fiction so I didn't see the need for 'art' to imitate life. I love the Bond films.
April 27, 201016 yr just got wellers new album, "wake up the nation" the modfather is back! Got the deluxe version on the day it came out and it is pretty good. But of course it will never get the same amount of play as All Mod Cons or Setting Sons (or even This is the Modern World for that matter). Musically, deep down, I have never moved on from that shy and moody 16 year old, playing 45's and 33's as loud as possible on my stereo, locked in my bedroom.
April 28, 201016 yr I see your Bee Gees, wipe my arse with it, and raise you The Marmalade... (just copied my vinyl copy of the Marmalade album "Songs" (1971) to iTunes - what an album!)
April 28, 201016 yr I'll see your Glen Campbell, and I'll raise you the Bee Gees, Randy! How about this one, moi!
