Now all the finalists are known, thought we should start a WC thread.

The seeding was announced today, England are in the top seeding pot of 8.

All the BOLD teams have possible chelsea players playing.

Seedings:

Pot 1 - South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, England, Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain.

Pot 2 - Australia, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Honduras, Mexico, USA, New Zealand

Pot 3 - Algeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay

Pot 4 - Denmark, France, Greece, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Switzerland

I reckon JT and the lads would love to draw New Zealand, Algeria and Switzerland for the group stage, on the other hand it could be much tougher, like Mexico, Ivory Coast and France. Or Australia, Ghana and Portugal.

Only Cech and Zhirkov missing from the finals, the rest of the Chelsea squad could be involved.

I can't wait to see who Australia get!!!

Out of the first seeds, if we don't get South Africa, I hope we get England...purely for the excitement of the ashes rivalry. Would be fantastic (though I would expect England to win).

Ivanovic will be there with Serbia won't he??

I reckon JT and the lads would love to draw New Zealand

Don't know about that mate. I'm picking the Kiwis to go all the way. Anyone keen to place a bet? :D

Ahhhh....Kiwis...very lucky to get a point even lol

Who can argue with stars such as Smeltzy

Nah, I hope they do well, just because it would be an interesting story

My dear old Sweden didn't make it to the World Cup (we messed up in a couple of games and that made us pay), but I'll still watch as many games as possible. Since Sweden wont play I'll probably support England. There are of course other teams that I like, but England will most likely be my number one. But I wouldn't mind if one of the african teams (probably Ghana or Ivory Coast) made it far. I think one of them will be a success, but will they make it all the way? Doubt it.

Looking at the seeding there can be some really interesting groups.

Personally I wouldn't mind following a group with Spain, Portugal, USA and Ghana or Ivory Coast. Could be some very nice games in that one.

I would also like Argentina and France face off in a group. Let's see who has got the biggest moron as manager. I hope both lose, but somehow I think Argentina would win. Players like Messi, Tevez and Aguero can win a game for their team no matter what manager. Too bad Riquelme isn't with Argentina anymore (thanks to Maradona I've heard). He was a great player.

France are pony so wouldn't mind if we did draw them, they have some good players but don't seem able to play that well together.

Their manager is Domenech. I think that says it all really :runforhills:

Does anyone have a rational reason why England got to be in the seeded group?

My understanding was that FIFA used the World Rankings from Oct 09 to decide the top 8 seeds, England were in 7th place at the time. The November rankings have England in 9th place, but FIFA had already decided the seedings before they were released.

http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/ranking/...=0&rank=186

But to be honest with you, its obvious FIFA took into account the estimated 40-60'000k+ England fans travelling to SA, along with similar numbers from the other top 8 seeds, Portugal and France dont travel in vast numbers, but FIFA wouldnt admit to that.

might pick up an engerland top with lamps on the back for the world cup

i think i'll be one of the few supporting england over here though. but i am a whole 1/4 english :P

I'm one eighth English. I like to think it's my left leg.

I'd love to see John Terry lift the world cup, as long as he doesn't burst into tears.

If JT can help England win the World Cup he can cry as much as he wants :P

Everyone knows Australia will win the world cup with a Tim Cahill winner...

I mean....c'mon. It seems innevitable.

Errrrr....carry on

mainly because they had one of the best records in qualification, and that seems to have been a big part of the criteria. do you have any reasons why they shouldnt be seeded on that criteria?

I'm half Ukrainian, I'd like to think it's my penis.

Yep. With the best will in the world I can't possibly conceive of any rational reason why a team that has Crouch, Johnson, Downing, Heskey, Calamity James, Wes Brown, Matthew Upson,Aaron Lennon and James Milner in it could be considered in the top 8 in the world. Add SWP to the list and I wouldn't consider that team to be in the top 8 in my local Sunday League.

Will that do, sir?

Is that because people say "That Eggy, he ain't half a prick"?

But on the other hand, JT, Lamps, Joey, Ash, Rooney, Ferdinand, Gerrard have all played at Europes highest level for some time now, the core of the team are highly capable, if thats good enough or not, remains to be seen.

I agree, if the seeding was based on our boys and a couple of others, we should be in the top 4 easily. Given the squad, though, I think we have been treated exceedingly well

I see South Africa have called upon Charlize Theron, the nation's keepie up record holder, to assist with the draw.

Where is Roy Wegerle when you need him?

So far Theron has reminded me of Sam Fox when she did the Brit Awards (was it the Brits) with Mick Fleetwood - it is painful.
