loz Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 A bit hasty getting this thread up giving that the Pompey game only ended a few hours ago but I am out all day and night tomorrow and am unlikely to be online till at least half way through Friday (I am unlikely to be out of bed before half way through Friday to be honest). Drogba should be back (thank God as tonight we carried as much upfront as Kate Moss and less penetration than Graham Norton at Miss World) and Kalou will therefore be benched (I pity the bench). I suspect Joe will start ahead of Deco although to be honest I don't think he is offering any more than Deco is. Alex should keep his spot in the centre and Borini will be hoping he becomes the striker sub of choice ahead of Kalou. In our favour is the fact West Ham are as effective as using a sock as contraception - lets be honest folks Zola is totally out of his depth and Stevie Clarke is maybe realising that your ability as an assistant is severely hampered by the ability of your manager.
Phillip Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Hey, hey, check out my answer to #14 on Quiz #2.
Cam Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Gotta love little Fracnco and Steve...and I want them to do well....but not starting this weekend.
german-blue Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Will be interesting if Drogba is back. Would be important. -----------------cech--------------------- --ivanovic---alex--JT---------ashley---- ----------------mikel--------------------- ----------lampard-Malouda-------------- -----------------joe----------------------- ----------drogaba-anelka---------------- Subs: Hilario, PF,Carvahlo, Ballack, Deco, Borini, Kalou If Drogba´s out Borini to replace him.

And if Borini replaces Drogba then I hope we drop the diamond formation and play Malouda and Joey on the flanks.
ozboy Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 (edited) We won't drop the diamond. We could achieve the same effect though with Ballack Lampard Malouda Joe/Deco Drogs Anelka If Zhirkov is fit, should be good for a bench spot. Borini should have scored against Portsmouth. Nearly doesn't get recorded on the scoreboard. Edited December 17, 2009 by ozboy

motorhead Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 is there any danger of this game being postponed due to the weather? been to this fixture a number of times in the 70,s and 80,s but i remember a few being called off around this time of year, normally about an hour before kick off when you are already there.hopefully they have undersoil heating now.
Mod Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I'm surprised the pikkies could afford it. We must win this game comfortably, please start Malouda, give us some form of attack from midfield in this game. No idea why Carlo decided to suddenly tinker, we seem to have lost momentum.
mad_mac Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Agreed, Think we'll see Alex and JT play together too, to put up against Carlton Cole. ........................Cech Ivan..........Terry........Alex......Cole ......................Mikel ................Lampard ............................Malouda ............Cole .........Anelka...........Drogba

It's true that neither Joey, nor Deco have impressed at the tip of the diamond, but Joey's a better choice to start with, IMHO. And Malouda must be preferred over Ballack, please.
north stand Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 From Chelseafc.com THREE RETURN FOR WEST HAM Posted on: Fri 18 Dec 2009 Didier Drogba, Joe Cole and Ricardo Carvalho will all return to the starting line-up against West Ham on Sunday, says manager Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian is able to welcome his top scorer back after Drogba sat out Wednesday's 2-1 win against Portsmouth, while Cole and Carvalho are back in after being rested in midweek. 'I don't want to change a lot of things about the next game, Carvalho returns to play and I have to take a decision on midfield,' Ancelotti said. 'Mikel or Ballack I want to do recovery and Joe Cole will return to play.
Gem Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 The Mancs could pull level on points if they beat Fulham today (what a shock, how many times have they had the chance in recent seasons to extend/close the gap before we play?) - tomorrow is a must win... well, they're all must wins now, especially whilst we've got Drogba in the team.
Maksimov Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 (edited) The Mancs could pull level on points if they beat Fulham today I saw the starting lineups and the Mancs' backline sure looks interesting. I totally expect them to win, mind you, but it does look interesting. Edited December 19, 2009 by Maksimov

Gem Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 The Mancs are losing 3-0 against Fulham. If we don't win tomorrow, we deserve f**k all, if this doesn't spur us on - NOTHING will.
german-blue Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I hope Carlo decides what CB´s he wants to have in the starting line-up. I think that in this position a rotation isn´t very useful. Would be good to have some stability there.
PloKoon13 Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Alright lads, we couldn't really have been given a better opportunity. Man Utd and Liverpool humiliated - if we don't have the guile to destroy those Pikey w**kers on the back of that, then we don't deserve the title. Let's CRUSH them!!!
Tim Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 This is a HUGE game now, after the dodgy run we've had this is a massive opportunity to get back on the right track and put United under some serious pressure. Frank to score, as always.
mad_mac Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Well, I think that there will be a similar line up to the Pompey match, but with Percy, Drogba, and Joey starting
n3o7 Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 manutd just lost 3-0, great chance to make a big gap before boxing day schedule comes
loz Posted December 19, 2009 Author Posted December 19, 2009 Well, I think that there will be a similar line up to the Pompey match, but with Percy, Drogba, and Joey starting That seems to be the most likely situation although I personally feel Malouda merits a start ahead Joe but that would mean playing Lampard at the tip of the diamond. Maybe we will see malouda and Joe start and either Ballack or Mikel benched.
mad_mac Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 That seems to be the most likely situation although I personally feel Malouda merits a start ahead Joe but that would mean playing Lampard at the tip of the diamond. Maybe we will see malouda and Joe start and either Ballack or Mikel benched. I was thinking the same, Loz. But I can't see us not playing Ballack and Frank in the same team. That would mean possibly dropping Mikel (and having Ballack play the holding role) and playing Malouda, who I feel deserves a start. Personally i'd play Mikel, Lampard, Malouda and Joe, but I have a feeling Malouda will come in from the bench
ozboy Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Could be six points clear if we can manage the win. Goal difference at this stage worth half a point.
