Just looking at another thread discussing the merits/non merits of Fabregas and I tried to look at it impartially when it hit me that try though I do to be honest and unbiast a certain ammount of predjudice comes through.

I was thinking particularly of the Ashley Cole Gallas deal and how I thought Gallas was great with us and whenever he moaned a bit I just put it down to him being played out of position when in reality he was our best centre back,

I then thought about Ash and how just the look on his face in an Arsenal kit annoyed the hell out of me..Great player I knew that but would I like to have him with us? no way.

now I see Gallas and every time the Camera catches his face he irritates me more, I hate his attitude and really want to see him make mistakes and sit in the centre circle and whinge.

I have the same feeling about Fabregas..I think he is a superb player and just the right age where a change of Club to someone seriously challenging on all fronts could see him become one of the best midfielders ever but.....that arrogance that look, I wouldn't want to support a player who aggravated me that much.

Then in all honesty I look at our players and think that if Drogba, Ballack, JT for instance had a red kit on I would hate their guts...and the worst thing is they could be replaced by players I don't like that are now at other teams and I would be cheering them on next Saturday ;)

Football fans are a fickle bunch and its almost impossible to understand how even when we know this happens we will still make excuses to ourselves like " anyone but so and so" or "yeah but he was an arse before he played for us"

I love football and I love Chelsea but to still support the team I did from when I was four that has little in common with the players I loved back then is probobly the most illogical thing I do.

I'm in a wierd mood as you can tell

yes!

Was that an excited "yes" because I just put all your feelings and thoughts down and you realised your not the only one endlessly agonising over your sometimes missguided support of players and your sometimes unneccesary derogatory attitude towards our opposition or was it a "Yes" because you got to the end of a post that we all know about but keep hiiden in our deepest subconcious?

Yes Chippy you are right we are a fickle bunch. To see JT or Lamps in the red of Manure or the ratmunchers would turn my stomach. Or Ronaldo in a Chelsea shirt would be as bad if not worse.

Having said that I hated Mark Hughes until he played for us, then it took me all of a week to change my mind!!

All football fans are blinded by bias, it's common knowledge, any arguement with enemy supporters will be one that won't ever be resolved, for instance a Torres v Drogba arguement will resolve in the Liverpool fan backing Torres, and the Chelsea fan backing Drogba.

But clearly in that arguement, the Chelsea fan will be able to agree that Torres is an excellent player, but the Liverpool fan will remain adamant that Drogba is a cheating scum. ;)

I see..this has been a most interesting and enlightening debate, I feel I have come a way to understading some of my innermost anxieties and for that I am eternally in your debt sir.

I thank you ::clap2::

I agree with you 99%, Chris....I can sum up the other 1% in one word - Deco :D

Got to say though Steve when you really dislike a player like you did in Decos case its worse than when its a general team dislike as in Ash's case.

Its wierd though that you wouldn't let that happen in any other walk of life..it even happens with Fans..I put a Chrysler Voyager in the paper a couple of years back and a bloke phoned and asked to come and have a look, said he was a Trader and had a customer for one..

I told him I'd had a bit of paint done and where and he said that was fine..

when he turned up my Nephew awnsered the door and I heard him say "thats crowed it for you mate" when I went out side this bloke was stood there chest all blown out with his Man Utd top on...

He was pointing to the bits where it had been painted all big in front of his mate saying "its had paint there" and then he bid me after I told him on the phone what I would take..

I walked away and he upped his bid, I said your not buying it mate for any money, he kept on till he went a hundred quid more than I said I'd take and I still wouldn't take his money.

Had he have had a Chelsea shirt on he'd have got a cup of tea a Biscuit and a good deal.

worst thing is my mate who does my paintwork is a Man Utd fan ::clap2::

You love those who help your team, no matter what color they are wearing.

You hate those who hurt your team, no matter what color they are wearing.

You hate certain colors, no matter who is wearing them.

You love certain colors, no matter who is wearing them.

Those who hurt your team and now are helping them, you will forgive faster than Jesus would.

But those who helped your team and now are hurting your team, those you usually hate the most!

That would be okay if colour was spelt correctly.

And who's this Jesus? Who does he play for?

Bibs....Sorry, on American spelling for some reason though funnily enough I actually considered that but was too lazy when pressing "add reply". Jesus was apparently a guy who walked on water and cured diseases by touch about 2000 odd years ago, apparently he is a big deal even to this day ;)

Wicksy, based on your other post you seem to just be brewing for a arguement with me. If thats the case please do so in pm if you must, I dont think the public wishes to see it, and I can ignore pm's easier :)

If you're not, then apologies, i was refering how usually our bias is easily swayed not based on a person themselves, but on how they affect our club.

I remember recently having a heated conversation with a couple of mates (manure and lolpool fans).

They were giving me grief abot drogba being a diver etc..

I stated that although he goes down easily and milks a lot of challeneges, he has never been booked for an outright dive.

Unlike Rooney, Ronaldo and Gerrard.

They didnt like this claim, I put it to them that there are youtube videos of each of these 3 guys getting booked on seperate incidents and i challenged them to find the same with drogba

They couldnt.

But I unerstand why people dislike him, he annoys me with the rolling about, especially if we are a goal down.

Spot on with your post Chippy.

Add to that "the media hates us" and "we get nothing from the UEFA/FA/FIFA Axis of Evil" and that's every fan of every club.

I think we get the same amount of stick that any other club in our position would get. When we were winning nothing everyone loved us. I don't think there is any bias as such, much of the comment is fair within the overall context of a media which exists to make a profit and has no scruples in the pursuit of that aim.

But that wasn't the point I was making. Regardless of the objective truth the fans of every other club believes everyone is against them, just like we do.
