Alex
Definatley prefer them to city but i could do with a less nervy game than last years one against them
bluevale2
It will be a tough game. They have not got to the semi's for about 35 years so they will be well up for it. Tony Pulis really gets the best out of what he has at his disposal.
mad_mac
Tough game, but we should be well up for it!
icecoolguy22
Should be a good workout in defending high balls and set pieces. Luckily we play at home again, if this is an away game, I would be seriously worried
kelker
Stokie I'm afraid...... Really looking forward to my first trip to Chelsea. Its a bit of a weird time at Stoke at the moment. After the game with The Arse at the weekend it ended a run of games that saw us unbeaten in the league in 2010. It was marred not only by the lose but the unfortunate injury to Aaron Ramsey. It also was a a v proud time to have a Stoke player called up to play for England on the same day he broke another players leg. Shawcross is a great footballer, a lovley lad and true footballing great in the making, and after the many years that I have followed my team a very proud moment for many a Stoke fan. Anyway..........we are in the quarter final of the ruddy FA Cup!!!! I know it must seem like second nature now to you guys, but for us to see the 3rd round is still a bonus! The team on Saturday looked shattered after the Man City replay that went to extra time and our squad is not really strong enough to field a couple of teams so the majority of players played most of the 2 matches.....and it showed. We will be well up for it and I'm sure we will fill your ground with non stop support for our team. Its a shame we only took the 3000 allocation and not the 6000 as we all belive that that was a mistake by the club. The 3000 were sold out within hours of going on general sale, with many a Stokie feeling a aggreaved not to be going.........I'm sure we will still generate a good amount of noise to Bridge. I just hope we will give you a good game on Sunday and I know most of you want to concentrate on the league so if you can have a word with your manager and players before the match to let us win ........that would be great!! Have a good one.
mad_mac
Welcome Kelker, first of all, I don't think any Chelsea fan in their right mind should think that making it to the last few rounds of the FA Cup would be a given right! Anyway, sad to hear that you only got 3,000 but I am sure that you will be more than vocal. What happened with Ramsay is a complete accident, and no ill feelings here. Not taking Stoke lightly, but I really hope that the club is very focused on the League and the FA Cup... starting to be excited about the CL when it seems that the winners are predetermined before a ball has been kicked! loz
Carvalho is a doubt after pulling out of the Portugal match tonight with a thigh problem. Full extent of the injury is not known yet.
bjd
Carvalho is a doubt after pulling out of the Portugal match tonight with a thigh problem. Full extent of the injury is not known yet. hopefully, it's not serious but I doubt he wouldve played on Sunday anyway. Like to see mikel dropped because of continual poor form and the fact we shouldn't need him for games like this but we don't have too many options. Hopefully we may see Matic at some stage what with the suspensions to ballack and belleti. Sturridge will surely start. Ditto Paulo. Turnbull deserves a run after hillarios panto last week, though he hardly inspires confidence either. I expect the jt/frank/droga spine to remain. Tough game ahead. Won't be pretty viewing i expect, the set plays will be terrifying. Edited March 3, 2010 by bjd
Gilvorak
Mikel dropped for who exactly? You do know we have about 5-6 players midfield out atm right? Mikel has been great ever since his return from AFCoN his worst match was against Man City and he didn't even play too badly anyway. Like to see Hilario Ferreira Alex JT Malouda Mikel Lampard Joe Cole Kakuta Drogba Sturridge Too bad Anelka will start though. Seems like he cant be arsed these days. We shouldn't need a defensive midfield player like Mikel at home to a team like Stoke. Like i said we dont have many options so he wont be dropped and he will play i guess. He hasnt been great since he return. He's been ok. He is never more than ok. You dont think he was too bad against Ctieh ? Righty oh...

rahul
Would love to see a couple of elder players given a rest and a couple of youngsters in the starting eleven. Of all the competitions we're involved in, this is of least importance for me, no disrespect to the competition, but its a chance for Carlo to try something different. blizeH
Is this not a good chance to give Turnbull a chance? I'd rather risk him in this game than a PL game I think. Turnbull Ferreira - Alex - JT - Malouda Cole - Mikel - Lampard Kakuta, Drogba, Sturridge Would be more than happy for Ivan to fill in at any of the defensive or even (controversially) midfield positions if needed. Doubt it however. Damnit! P.S. Any news on our injuries? How's Yuri "The new Robben" Zhirkov and Essien doing? Are Bosingwa close to return soon? ws6blue
wake up and smell the coffee time boys sunday will be very difficult and a win not a deadcert at all stoke well organised and very physical (but not dirty apart from the right back!).................when we played away we scraped it in last minute and delap didn't play in that match hilario will struggle if he plays with the throws/corners/freekicks...................so for this one I wouldn't play him they have some decent players, fuller is strong and a bit of a needler so JT needs to be up to it whelan very decent player if he gets the time and shawcross decent centrback rest of em big and strong and will work us over if we let em my team would be turnbull, ivanovic, alex, jt, paulo mikel lamps, malouda, belleti, joey drogs
bluevale2
Please, supreme being who resides in the heavens, let us win this game because living where I live my life will be unbearable if we don't. Every week for 38 years without fail, our sh*tty local evening newspaper prints pictures and related articles about the League Cup Final in 1972. If they win on Sunday I will never, ever hear the last of it. Drog, if you read this a hat trick would be nice! Cheers BV2
Bridgeboy
Looking for a good game, at the bridge so hope there is a good crowd effort. JT should be happy with the reception he got during the England game and I think it would have put a bit of the lion back into him. I am looking for a walk over, cause we have to start playing well soon otherwise we can kiss goodbye to winnign anything this year. This is the perfect game to it because Stoke will be up for it, a tough well fought win is better than an easy win for moral anyday !
