Is it time for a clear out?

Featured Replies

Looking at the team in general and not just on todays performance is it about time there is a clear out to rid the club of the final parts of Mourinhos Chelsea, this would mean selling players such as terry, drogba, carvalho, cech and lamps. If abramovich is going to give carlo time to build a squad is it about time to get rid of these players which will finally remove all the remnants of mourinhos team. I know this isnt the type of thing that can be completed in one transfer window, but i think for too long some players seem to think that its all about them and not the club. It seems that some players think that there untouchable at the club and that no matter what they do on/off the field they can keep fans respect. I am not just thinking of a little refreshing of the team as i think any players that come in in the summer will still have to deal with the more established players whom from the new players will adapt to the same mentality of the currant players.

Im not trying to disrespect any of the players mentioned as they have been great servants to the club, but maybe its time for a clear out to get a fresh mentality at the club.

How the hell are JT and Lamps "Mourinhos Chelsea"? They were here long before José and will stay long after he's gone.

I might agree that there are some players that we should get rid of, but JT and Lamps are certainly not two of them, nor would I like to lose any of the players you mention. They may not be young talents, but they are really good players.

I would much more prefer to lose Ballack and Ferreira.

We need to rebuild our squad, yes. But the first step is to get rid of players who don't have a large impact like Belletti, Ballack, Deco, Ferreira. To sell players like Drogba, Lampard and Terry would be ridicilous and will never happen.

I know terry and lamps were here before jose but you cant deny he was the manager that got the best out of them and had the biggest impact on there careers, the whole mourinho siege menatality of chelsea vs the world never sat well with me, and yes we also need to get rid of ballack, PF, hilario, kalou, bellitti and others

Bluewilky

Out of interest exactly how many players do you think we should get rid of

So far we have

Terry

Drogba

Carvalho

Cech

Lampard

Ballack

Ferreira

Hilario

Kalou

Belletti

Others

So that is 10 players plus a plural of others.

Whilst I agree that the squad is needing refreshed the idea that we should get rid of somewhere in the region of say 13 players seems like a massive over reaction when it is a squad still battling for a league and cup double.

Getting rid of Terry, Drogba, Cech and Lamps is utterly insane.

The rest of your list is fair enough and I would have no problem with them leaving and their replacements being predominantly the promotion of players such as Sturridge, Matic, Stoch ann Kakuta.

There's quite a few players who Chelsea need to let go, namely Ferreira, Deco, Belletti, Hilario (Delac will be here next season), Kalou, Carvalho, Ballack, and if Joey doesn't want to sign a new contract, then he can go too. I really can't see why anyone at Chelsea would want to lose the quality of JT or Lampard though, they are irreplaceable at the moment.

I was just asking what people thought im just saying at some point soon they will have to leave anyway with the ages of the players i might have been a little hasty with JT and lamps. But i think joe wont sign a new contract ( even though i hope he does) deco, ballack, hilario, kalou can all leave as they havent added much to the squad and its not like we dont have either better younger players here or the money to buy other players, although bringing young players through from the ressies would be the best way

there are some fans who deluded themselves into thnking we could go round one more time with the exact same squad next season because of a couple of recent wins.even IF we do the double this season we still need a clear out imo.that said i wouldnt start with lampard, terry, drogba, although i think i understand where youre coming from.as ive said in other threads, there are at least four i would show the door to.

Id agree to sell them all would be ridiculous. But selling one of them might not be so bad.

You see there is no doubt that those three players carry a lot of weight in the dressing room, mainly down to all the managerial changes we have had these past 3 years. Selling one of them would send out a message that they are not so powerful and untouchable and can be replaced. But who , which one?! And realistically who too ?

For me players to go should be split into two categories , those that are too old (Ballack, Deco, Carvalho, Belletti) and those that are not good enough (Mikel*, Kalou , Hillario)

*I expect to get arsey Nigerians logging in and sending me pms calling me a 'beefdog' now!

Which one? Easy, John Terry.

We need more speed and energy in our midfield. Our biggest provider of that has been Essien and he's now an injury ravaged player who'll only get worse, we shouldn't consider him first 11 anymore. It will only set us up for failure again when he misses another 5 months of a season.

My thoughts too, but you were braver than me to come out and say it!

Yes, let us sell John Terry and keep Paulo Ferreira...probably one of the worst players i have ever seen at Chelsea Football Club.

Out:

Ferreira!

Ballack

Deco

Belletti

Carvalho

Hilario

Kalou

you've been a fan a long time then I see

Long enough. My God is he useless. Last night he didn`t even try to stop Gareth Bale..

Yeah, a player with a Champions League Medal, a player who was an integral part of the best defense the Premier League and Chelsea FC has ever seen, 2 Premier League Medals. Useless. Imagine if he was good!

You dont like him i get it. This classy post yesterday shows that:

May Paulo Ferreira f*ck off back to Portugal. Hell, i would even pay his ticket if someone could promise me that i would never see that guy in a Chelsea-shirt again. Useless piece of garbage!

Currently he is third choice rb and only playing because if injuries to others. What were you expecting, Maicon ? Alves ?

Actually i meant to put him in my list, he should be shipped out because of his age - but lets not forget what he has done for us.

I still mean everything i said yesterday.

And what do i expect from a third-choice rightback that earns millions a year? He could try to make an effort for example...Bale just ran straight through the guy for christs sake.

I saw him close up against preston a few months ago and he was appalling. his positioning was terrible for a top class player, i honestly couldnt believe how bad he was.

Yeah i dont doubt it dkw. He is past it and should be shipped. However im just asking for a little more respect.

Paulo has played a huge part in Chelseas history. He has won more medals than 99% of the players that have ever played for us and indeed, for many other teams.

Telling him to 'f**k off' and saying he is the 'worst player ever' isnt just silly and ludicrous but just shows a lack of respect for someone that has achieved so much for us.

Sometimes we need to support the players and thank them for their service, particularly someone like Paulo who has been a great servant, not just turn and abuse them when they have bad games.

We wonder why we get bad a bad name as supporters sometimes, its people like him and its things like this and booing when its 0-0 at half time that make me maaaaad. Some people either are very spoiled or have very short memories.

of course your right, he had 2 superb seasons for us where he was consistent and a big part of a superb back 4. And for that he does deserve respect.

I agree with the comments on PF he has been a great servant to the club winning 2 league medals, FA cup medals isnt to be sneered at, but yesterday he just had a terrible game, i remember Terry having a terrible game against everton a few weeks ago i dont think he was villified like PF has been??? Im glad that some people could see what i was saying about the players, dressing room etc.

The thing is with a clear out its unreasonable to expect to bring in more than 2 or 3 players..that means we need at least two to be good enough to regularly be in the squad and pushing for first team starts from the youngsters we have.

lets say we let go of Paulo (who I think is a great 3rd choice RB even though he was fleeced yesterday) Belletti (good utiolity player) Ballack (to high wages and has failed to take any game by the scruff of the neck since he was Captain for a couple of games) Kalou (lots of chances but not good enough) Carvalho (still very good but getting on a bit and with Ivan and Alex we can cover) Joe has reportedly asked for a wage increase and has only shown glimpses of his old self..for me he is not worth that risk although if he would sign a short contract and maybe performance related wages I would keep him, also the thought of him going on a free and getting back to his best is unbearable.

so

Ferreira

Belletti

Ballack

Kalou

Carvalho

Joe Cole?

I can see a case for breaking up the established players as I think they have become bigger than the manager and it causes a problem which would mean the sale of one of

Drogba

Terry

Cech

Lampard

I can't make a strong enough case to let any of these go as I think a couple of reasonably high profile sighnings by the manager could show that they are not untouchable and the manager is calling the shots (I have nothing but gut feeling to go on here obviously)

If I had to sell one of these it would be between JT and Drogba for the reasons that JT has just brought so much baggage and it is showing on him that the media circus around his private life can effect his performances and Drogba althoug one of the best in the world is getting to an age where we have to think about the future and he is so different from most strikers out there that replacing him means a whole new style of play, I would concider it if we brought in a proven top quality striker and built the team to play to his strengths which would more likely be closer to the strengths of our back up strikers.

I still think it would be possible to keep the four of them though and Carlo will need to work hard to show them he is the boss over the close season and be ready to drop any of them who don't perform.

any more than five of this team leaving just seems ridiculous to me.

Assuming all our loanees come back, I guess the squad in the close season will look like this:

GK: Cech, Turnbull, Hilario, Taylor, Sebek

LB: Cole, Zhirkov, Van Aanholt, Bertrand

CB: Terry, Alex, Carvalho, Ivanovic, Bruma, Hutchinson, Rajkovic

RB: Bosingwa, Belletti, Mancienne, Ferreira

CM: Essien, Lampard, Mikel, Deco, Ballack, Matic, Cork,

LM: Malouda, Sinclair, Kakuta

RM: Joe Cole, Stoch

FW: Drogba, Anelka, Sturridge, Kalou, Borini, Di Santo

We might want to either buy a new left back or promote Bertrand/Van Aanholt so we can start using Zhirkov in attack. He's shaky defensively (usually), but he's a tank going forward.

The difference is that while JT might have had a few bad games he has also had loads of great games. Meanwhile Ferreira has loads of bad games and hardly any good ones.
