Sunday's Big Game

Featured Replies

I am not sure if this is asked too much, but I wanted to ask the right people. I have a vacation planned around this game and will be staying in Cricklewood. I just need to know 3 things to get me there, drinking, and celebrating a title...

1. Tube the best way to get to the Bridge?

2. I heard So Bar is a good place to watch the game...true? Is there a better Chelsea bar?

3. How early should I get to West London to get a good place in the bar? (I have no tickets and don't see them being available so the bar is fine for me)

1 - yes

2 - just opposite the ground. it wont be quiet, thats for sure.

3 - as soon as it opens. it will be heaving. there are a multitude of bars in that area, all will be busy but you should get in most if you get there early. so-bar and brogans you will need to be there about 3 hours before kick off.

So Bar don't show the game though. It's where people meet for pre-match pints and a song. For good pre-match atmosphere go to either So Bar or the Butchers Hook a little further up the street from So Bar. As for pubs that show the game I think The Morrison will be packed. It's on Kings Road on the Junction with Britania Road. You can always try the Fox And Pheasant just before you get to Brompton Cemetary.

Be there early to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy your day out mate ::ChELSeAFaN::

Get there early, BROGANS is your best bet, on Fulham Road, come out of Fulham Broadway Station turn right, over the road from the Slug and Lettuce.

The So-Bar is my pre-match drink, songs and plenty of people who watch us away and abroad. It did show last years FA Cup Final so might do the same this year for our Premiership decider, usually open pre-match only though with no TV's.

Our gang, 6 plus, haven't got tickets, so will be in Brogan's, taking our Ark Royal Chelsea flag !!

Whatever Pub, the atmosphere will be great, I even know what hotel the players are staying in, Chelsea Harbour is my only clue ! ::ChELSeAFaN::

Thanks guys! Hopefully...with no volcanic ash problems...you will see me at Brogans or others! I will have a beer, my bird, backpack, and camera out looking like an American!

UK airports closed again due to volcanic ash cloud

04 May 2010

Description:

Air travel chaos not over as Irish and Scottish airspace closed again due to volcanic ash cloud

This morning, flights to Northern Ireland and the Outer Hebrides were cancelled due to a volcanic ash cloud moving south from Iceland. The ban was lifted in the afternoon as the ash in the atmosphere reduced to safe levels.

However, the CAA has now issued a press release stating that airspace over Scotland and Northern Ireland will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday 5th May from 0700 local time.

Forecasts from the Met Office show that ash levels will exceed the recommended maximums allowed by the aircraft engine manufacturers. This is likely to mean that all Scottish and Northern Ireland airports will be closed tomorrow morning.

The emissions from the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajokull have become stronger, and the Met Office is continuously monitoring them. The current forecasts show that the ash cloud will continue to move south, affecting airports in the northwest of England and North Wales.

Passengers are advised to contact their airlines as soon as possible to get the latest advice. Further Met Office forecasts will be given over the next few hours.

European Union Denied Boarding and Cancellation Regulations still apply, passengers can find more information about their rights if flights are cancelled here.

So, I've now decided that I'm definitely heading to London... an impromptu, mini end of seaosn meet-up, anyone?

If not, I won't be a Happy Meal. :P

A few fries short of a Happy Meal?

indeed. I only put that in there, to generate a few responses. It worked, but I think you're a little far away, to get here in time.

The distance wouldn't be too great, it's the ash in the air...again.

Okay, that settles it. I haven't been able to find any affordable flights, and this vulcanic ash threat again makes it too risky for me. I'm not going to London :D

Match chat for me and there's always next season's piss-up! :D

Flights today and yesterday disrupted all over Scotland.. Please, please, please not on Saturday, please.

Any chance you could get to Buchanan Street Bus Station on Saturday evening and get a bus down? Not ideal by any means (I speak from experience, unfortunately), but at least you'd get down for the game early on Sunday with plenty of time for finding a decent boozer :Connie_threaten:

Geezer's suggestion of training it is a much better option, but probably a hell of a sight more expensive. Whatever happens, I hope you make it and enjoy a great afternoon!

Well if costs are an issue the 2nd option is to hop over to somewhere near Helensburgh and nick Loz's car

A vacation...in Cricklewood...? :loser:

Yes..but remember. We are from America so is was cheaper to stay further away from the center of London and my wife planed it around this game a year ago. She had no idea where to stay, just wanted a hotel that was in london and affordable that would get us to the game.

For the spurs away match I ended up rescheduling my flights for this weekend and getting the bus there and back, not pleasant to say the least but looks like I should be able to fly saturday morning! must keep the faith!
