One of the great myths: Blue is the Colour was the 1970 cup final song.

It came out in 1972.

The History Channel could do with a historian.

It came out just in time for the 72 League Cup final against Stoke didn't it - the less said about that the better - we were beaten by a man with a bus pass!

Spot on, Backbiter and Loz!

It reached it's highest chart position in March 1972, and was brought out for the Stoke game. My only time ever at Wembley, bad bad memories.

George Eastham = C**T, that's whay my Dad said and he was there, the only time I've ever heard him say the C word.

That's a great post. Many thanks!

I remember buying the vinyl LP and it's still languishing somewhere in my mum's loft. I think Ossie sang Chirp Chirpy Cheep Cheep on it, if memory serves me correctly! :-)

My dad always says that song brought on the worst luck. He was only able to get a ticket in the Stoke end for that final when we were beaten, and then we lost a string of matches surrounding the release of that track. Getting knocked out of the FA cup as well if I remember correctly.. Still a catchy song when it comes on before/after matches... Blue is the colour! ::ChELSeAFaN::

That was my first season going to the Bridge, couldn't get a ticket for the final and spent the day at Millwall with my mate and his dad. I'll never forget being in a pie and mash shop close to East Lane market and being the only miserable face in there when news of our defeat came through. Still, as we all know, the glory days were only around the corner..........................in 1997.

PS, if it involves us then surely it should be called the No History Channel.
