Keiron Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Like Malouda last year who was amazin and improved immensely and is now our 2nd most dangerous player behind drogba or maybe 3rd behind frankie few years ago we thought drogba was naff then all of a sudden 33 goals in a season essiens first season was patchy at best who this year is gonna be the stand out squad player we all worry about when we see gettin ready to come on as a sub to superstar this player is massively important too us... im going for mikel if the younger players had played as much as him in premier league and champs league they would of had alot of bad games too but now he seems comfortable wonderfully strong in center midfield now essien ramires lampard mikel think mikel is already as good as what yaya toure will be at city this year.. seems to love chelsea aswell also someone else i can see kalou prizin away anelkas spot this year anelka seems amazing 1 week and then doesnt score for 10 games opinions..
chelseablueboy Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 I still think that Malouda will go from strength to strength, and therefore be our most improved player of the season. Kalou seems to be well liked by the other players, and i think that is helping him get over his 'moments' and i only see him improving, maybe even to the degree of being the first choice on the right up-front, as Nico's age begins to tell ? Whatever happens we do look bloody strong at the moment that's for sure !! Alan
german-blue Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 (edited) I hope for Mikel. Mainly because our midfield is a bit thin, but also because I like his playing style. He might not be spectacular but if you are a holding midfielder behind Lampard and Essien that isnt what you should try to be. He is calm, has good ball control and is pyscially strong. Also Sturridge and Kalou have good chances of surprising us. Kalou will be important as he is the first sub for our front 3 and Anelka´s form is a bit of an doubt for me. MHL_blue Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 I think Sturridge and Kalou have points to prove, although Kalou have started well so we'll just have to see if his form continues. I agree on Mikel, he seems to be a better player this season so he's my tip to be "the new Malouda". Bruma might surprice us as well and I'm excited to see what Kakuta can do.
Cam Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 (edited) I think Alex has a chance to really prove himself as a world class defender. He'll play most games when he's fit...so he has a chance. As others have said, Mikel, Kalou also chances...not too many others. Unless Sturridge and the other young brigade get consistent football, I don't see them being the surprise packets..but you never know. Benayoun and Ramires as new players can potentially be suprisingly good, but it would be more about them coming on in leaps and bounds in relation to their careers elsewhere. Cech can't really show more than he did at the start of his Chelsea career Bosingwa could potentially come back from injury and have a breakthrough season (perhaps like what Cole did last year, where he went to a new level) Don't think Ivanovic has a lot more to show than his excellent form last year to be honest. Terry can't improve what he has done at his best. Cole...perhaps can improve still...but I don't think so. Mikel..can obviously improve Lampard...either stays the same, or will go down...can't improve near perfection Essien, don't think we'll suddenly see a random onslaught of hidden talent Kalou improved at the end of last season, and still has a bit of promise..but if he doesn't make a breakthrough this season, he's destined to stay as a squad player Anelka can improve on last season, but not his golden boot year I don't think. Drogba don't think he has much more to offer, on top of what he did last year and the start of this one. Malouda, don't think he can significantly improve over his exploits last year....though he could prove me wrong if he keeps scoring all these goals! So yeah, I think one of Alex, Mikel or Kalou...Mikel probably has the best shot. Edited September 3, 2010 by Cam
fester Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 I think Kakuta will burst onto the scene and very quickly become a key member of the team.
Planet Drogba Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 If Mikel continues his recent form then I think we can all safely say he'd be the most improved by far.
bluegraham Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 mikel has started the season well, but we did'nt play anyone yet. im not mikels biggest fan but i hope he proves me wrong and has a great season.
chelseabootboy Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 if given the chance i think sturridge could be a serious bench player...this season.
coco Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 I really hope that we can have a youth player from the academy breaking into the squad and making his mark this season. Kakuta and Bruma look the best bets.
KrazyTea Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 As some others have already suggested, it's Mikel. And he's making a strong case for it already
Barry Bridges Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 I think Kalou will be the "most improved player" of the season. I think we will be pleasantly surprised by Mikel and Sturridge also......I think we may see some glimpses of Kakuta in some dead rubber matches that leave us saying "Neymar who?" though we wont be EPL ready for a season or 2
High Street Ken Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 If injuries pave the way for more appearances, I think Zhirkov could be a devastating attacking weapon. He's very direct, seems suited to the Prem and just needs game time and a more forward role.
disillusion Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 I have really high hopes for Studge to succeed! He has pace, strength and I think training with the likes of Dider day in day out will surely help. But I agree that this season it will probably be Alex, Mikel or Kalou.
BlueDay Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 I beleive Mikel aswell. Although Im sure Alex will shine now he is a guaranteed first team starter!
RegRabid Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 I must admit there was a time when I gave Malouda and Kalou a bad press more often then not when they played. After accusing Malouda of only playing in the last ten games of the season, he has well and truly proved me wrong. I am now hopeful of being proved wrong by Kalou, who seems to be gaining the confidence he requires to play consistently every times he plays. Mikel must be aware he needs to put in a first class performance every times he plays, with Ramires bound to be snapping at his heels, so fingers crossed there too. I'd like to see Mikel recieve some adulation, I think he mostly did what was asked of him week in week out when Essien was injured, but, was always compared with Essien in that role, which is a lot to live up to.
tn1ben Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 he doesn't do coke like adrian mutu, mutu.. should be our most improved player. although it's easy to forget how important he was last season, particulalry towards the end. good squad player who's won me round. first post. wooooo
jcm28 Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I think its gonna be Mikel. He has been great so far and I dont see why he wont continue his form throughout the season. Maybe Kalou can improve a bit (not too tough to do tbh).
Bobbywoodhogan Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I really think this year we will win the Champions League, I just have a feeling. If Essien stays fit I think its ours for definite.
