I was just thinking about who will be our main title rivals this season with Arsenal looking like they're gonna edge out a 1-0 at Sunderland have they found out how to grind games out? Man U have started weak but they usually have a poor start anyways. Man City have spent alot of money and have some major talent on the wings with Johnson and Milner. Spurs are now a champions league team.

I haven't really been impressed by any of those contenders just yet, so it's a little early to tell

this year, like last year, i expect Arsenal to be our main challengers. i was wrong then, and i'm fully prepared to be wrong again!

It is and pretty much always going to be Manure, Arsenal will come close mind. We've just got to keep our heads and stay focused so whoever our main rivals will be won't matter!

The Mancs, Arsenal, Tottenham, Man City, Everton, Villa, Stoke, Birmingham, Fulham, Sunderland, Newcastle. West Brom, Blackpool, Bolton, Blackburn, Wolves, West Ham and Wigan will challenge us in the domestic cups this year.

ManU really seem like the team that will be our biggest rival.

They have a very solid team with a bunch of players that seem to only getting better every year (Scholes and Giggs will probably play until they're 40 or something).

Berbatov have starting scoring goals as well, so that should help them. Question is how Rooney will react after his affair, but somehow I doubt he'll be bad this season. With him and Berbatov they might not have to rely on that other player "Own Goal". But Fergie-time will continue to help them (though it kinda backfired against Everton).

I also think Arsenal might be a contender this season. Their youngsters are one year older and are starting to produce goals and assists, they have bought players they needed (I think Chamakh will be very useful) and they've kept Fabregas.

Only two things might ruin it for them:

1. Injuries - something that has been troubling them for a few seasons now.

2. Bad keeping - they do need a great keeper to really give them the edge.

Liverpool seem to be far from a team that might challenge us, but they will still give all the big teams a fight when they face them.

Tottenham are looking strong, but I can't see them lasting over an entire season. They will snatch points from the big teams, but also drop points against weaker opposition.

Man City will most likely become a big team, but they need more time to become as solid as us or ManU. Just like Spurs they will grab points from the big teams, but over a season they will have dropped too many points against other teams to win the gold.

Unless Mancini performs a miracle I can't see them winning the league. Maybe next season or the one after that.

no matter how average united's squad looks at the moment they always manage to stick around the top so i think once more it will be us and them, citeh and arsenal are both capable of getting amongst it

I think Arsenal may be our main title rivals this year. The points they've dropped were at pretty tough places to go and will no doubt hit great form somewhere during the season, and Chamakh has settled into the Premier League nicely. Question is whether they can produce in the big games where they usually fall flat, if Fabregas can stay fit, and if Almunia continues to cost them points.

I feel Man U will have a pretty poor season. Rio's fitness issues really hurt them and being without Valencia for such a long will be a big blow (who I thought was one of their best players last season). There best option in the centre of midfield is Paul Scholes, who while is undoubtedly still class probably won't hold up for a whole season. They've also uncharacteristically dropped points from winning positions, the sort of thing you look back on and rue as a missed opportunity.

City (under Mancini) and Spurs have no chance whatsoever.

Has to be united though I expect Arsenal to stay in the race for a longer duration.

I know it's early in the season and we haven't been "tested" yet I have this feeling that we are going to run away with the title. I could see us ending up in the mid 90's points wise and having a group 2-5 end up in the low 80's. United are going to beat the bad team but they seem to not have that 5th gear late in the game this year which could lead to alot of draws. Arsenal will always have injuries to fall back on as an excuse. Spuds have Europe to contend with and City are still figure who plays week to week.
