Simple question really, would you take Aguero or Torres.

We have been watching Aguero for ages and in the Summer we were getting heavy links with Torres. And now Torres seems to be unsure at staying at Liverpool and looking at a move, and Aguero just signed a new contract lowering his buyout clause.

I watched Aguero in the week and have to say he was really on form. Lots of pace, some nice touches and control in the box and scored a great goal.

We all have seen what Torres can do when he is on form, but big question is when he is on form and also not injured. He loves to score at Anfield but doesnt score as much away.

I made some notes below. I think I would take the risk on Aguero simply he is cheaper and younger and seems to have bags of skill and could get better. He also seems to be less injured than Torres. He reminds me of Tevez in some ways. Doesnt stop running and can be a real pain against the opposition! But unsure if he could be the leading front man for us or if he will work well in the "wings"

Aguero

22 years I think

Not sure if can play on own, works well with forlan (ie 2 strikers)

Pace

Control

Unproven in Premier League

Rumours we agreed price before but he wanted bigger wages - to greedy?

Approx £38m

Torres

26 years

Can play up front on own

Pace

Control

Proven in Premier League

Approx £50m

Aguero. For a few reason. 1/ He's in form 2/ He doesn't have such a bad record with injuries 3/ he's younger 4/ he's not a ladyboy scouse loving mug 5/ he's slightly better value for money

I'd take Aguerro cause of his age and the fact he's not from Liverpool. Also Torres injury history is worrying. However based on formation, team and structure, a player like Torres will be a better fit for chelsea.

Aguero about a ten thousand times over. For all the reasons mentioned here, especially the hole in ass one. But most importantly, aside from scoring the occasional goal in the dipper's semi annual cup final against us, Torres will never again be the player he was a couple of years ago.

He may have success if he moves to Europe, namely Spain, but I think Torres is a spent force in England. The fact that his team has also fallen so far will just hasten the process of him leaving

This is based on a slightly ridiculous premise that Torres would cost 50 million. Based on his performances over the last two seasons, the dippers would be lucky to get back the 26-ish million that they paid for him. No way is he worth more than that, and I don't even think he's worth that much - Maybe just about pushing the 20mill if the Citeh nutters decide they want him.

I wouldnt pay £50m for him but you can see Liverpool know he has potential and when he on form, he is quality. He did us this year.

I would take Aguero but seems like some people will take Torres over Aguero.

Only problem is will Aguero fit the system!

I totally agree. Torres in this season is so bad he makes me wonder how could he been so good...

Btw, i think in 4-3-3 Aguero would play on the wings, not in center.

Aguero out wide is a waste, itl be like the anelka scenario only we would be spending double the amount we paid for him to play him on the wing. aguero is more of a young michael owen type but can also drop deeper to help start attacks. I really can't see him on either flank for us, but I do think he could play up on his own, although he's been very effective in a 2 with forlan.

Aguerro in the middle with wide players supporting him might work, or Carlo goes back to his diamond and give him Pato up front for support

Now that we're talking fantasy buys here, why not chuck in Iniesta in the mix. He is the midfield maestro who we need. Would be great for many years to come and would certainly ease the pain of Lamps' departure. Imagine Iniesta and McEachran working together and toying with other teams for fun.

Why a fantasy buy?

We have constantly been linked with Aguero and we were getting linked heavily with Torres in the Summer who was keen to move as well.

How many times have we been linked with Iniesta?!

Never understand random comments. If you have nothing to say about the topic, then dont say anything at all :JC_doubleup:

Being linked and having a realistic chance of buying are two different worlds altogether. Maybe its just me, but I dont think any of those are coming to Chelsea.

And by the way there was already numerous topics on Aguero and Torres - some running into hundreds of pages, so I didnt think there was a need for another one.

I would say there is a realistic chance of getting Aguero though. Maybe you think its a link and i think its a possibility and realistic.

Had a search on topics and couldnt find one comparing one to the other - hence why i posted up as I was interested to see other people's opinions. Obviously by the poll, quite a few others voted as well.

If you didnt think there was a need for another one, then you simply didnt have to post :JC_doubleup:

Care to reply now?

As we are talking fantasy buys, why not throw in Luiz with the Torres deal. Oh wait a minute, at the moment, its not fantasy.

Just goes to show, you CANT dismiss anything :D

So exciting

Agree, lets have more of it... ::ChELSeAFaN::

He is though the most prolific striker in the premiership,he and drogba.omg awsome just awsome, not even David villa is this goood.come onnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, and i backed him against SA alldays every day

In fairness, a month ago it looked like this would NEVER happen.

I still believe that we will get Aguero. Maybe today was just the sign that a. things werent going to be tight forever and b. we have tossed caution to the wind. Maybe because he doesnt seem to want to move within Spain and Man City have a million forwards. But god if he can be had in the summer for something in the 30s I say forget REyman and just go for him.

I have just always pictured Aguero coming into this league and this team and being Zola mk II.

Odd, just now, trolling another forum, and someone said about Torres coming in "They wouldve done better to get Aguero"

Response? "They'll get him in the summer when both Anelka and Drogba depart."

I have a damp patch.

Christ the pair of them would be something else.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here gentlemen. Sheva was the best striker in Europe when he signed for us as well. But he was on the downward slope, lets hope Torres isn't on the same path.
