As an owner, what price would you pay?

Featured Replies

With all these rumours floating around about us making a £60,000,000 bid for Torres when will we see the first £100,000,000 player? Is this number unrealistic? If my memory serves me right no one thought that £100,000 was not possible until Tony Hately (I think) came along and became the first of many. Many owners state that their star player 'isn't for sale at any price'...there is always a price, Ronaldo for example was apparently untouchable but was sold. With a mediocre striker like Bent going for £25,000,000, who will be that first £100,000,000 player? Messi? Torres? etc. or will the Middle East owners curb their spending habits. -_-

Mceachren! Haha. I would die if we ever sold him though. Im called Josh too, so its especially very cool that hes our bright hope for me.

Not Messi. He will stay at Barce for the rest of his carreer. I honestly cant think of any footballer thats worth 100 million apart from Messi tbh. Fabregas? Hes briiliant and still very young.

It already disgusts me a player has gone for 80mil...especially when you consider what that money could do to improve the world.

That said, I still love football, and acknowledge that money is the factor which makes the game tick, and just have to accept that, however obscene the financial figures.

But 100million...I hope not.

If the prices continues to be pushed up then £100.000.000 is possible. The main question is if any team will afford to pay that much for one player. And it's also a bit of a gamble. What if the player can't make it?

Anyway, perhaps the new financial rules will stop the prices rising, so maybe we wont see a player being sold for that much.

Or maybe City will offer that much for Messi before the new rules comes.

Ronaldo was silly money from Perez..

I would have surely paid a lot for Ronaldinho in his prime at barcelona .. Forget his lack of form after that .. But if ever a player's form merited such huge money , it could be

Ronaldinho from Barcelona 2005-2006

Ronaldo R9 from Barcelona 1996-1997

Zidane Real Madrid 2002 - 2003

These 3 are the best ever according to me ...

Ronaldo was silly money from Perez..

Oh, he was well worth it, trust me. His shirt sales alone have probably paid back that amount.

And if I could get Ronaldo right now for £100 million, I'd gladly pay up.

You don't think Real would pay £100 million for Messi?

If it wouldnt put them into insolvency (and I dont think thats possible considering they have already gotten away with spending 200m euros in one summer) they definitely would. But his buyout is probably 250 million or something insane.

Lets not forget, Kaka was very close to breaking this mark by going to City

I can't remember exactly how it work's but I thought I read somewhere that Real Madrid could never be declared bankrupt because of some kind of relationship with the Spanish crown. Might be a load of rubbish but that would explain why they can get away with spending millions every year.

Think Torres is over priced at 35m.

Messi is the only player out there who idiots like Man City would pay 100m for

I heard that too there training ground and stadium is owned by the royal family I think, how this can stopnthem being declared bankrupt I'm not sure.

I remember someone from Chelsea saying that they'd be willing to pay that price for someone if that person was the person they wanted. At that time, it was heavily suggested we were after Ronaldinho.

Today,I think things are a little more settled, but the only person that may get that currently would be Messi, and it'd be real that'd pay that (but I'm not even sure he'd go from Barca)or Man Citeh

Its just because of crazy bids that clubs that man city and Madrid make that has made the market this way.

City were pondering a bid around 120m pounds for messi and same amount for iniesta when the new owners first took over the club,I don't think anyone in world football is worth 80m pounds that's crazy money to spend for one player. That doesn't show ambition on part of Madrid when they bid for Ronaldo they just made the transfer market insane

Athletico want 50m pounds for Aguero is he really worth that much ?..he hasn't achieved anything really as a footballer makes no sense why you'd spend so much money for that player as a owner you shouldn't pay more that 35m pounds for him

the recent signing of Darren Bent where villa paid 25million € now will make all others club in premiership demand more and more money,

Charlie Adam will end up getting bought for the same fee as Xabi alonso (almost) bids start at 14m pounds for him. :shok:

Well, some are.

If you're talking about crazy deals I can't think of one that beats the Ibrahimovic one by the Mes que un club. They ended up effectively swapping a 29 year old Eto'o with a 29 year old Villa for a net loss of €62 million.

That was a mental transfer wasnt it. Oh and liking the new avatar mate.

Don Carlo

That's quite unbelievable i wasn't aware a players merchandising could earn so much money

anyway will we able to recoup the same amount for torres now reports claim the bid is going to be 60m € plus sturridge

I think we should keep sturridge and give Kalou away,Kalou is dreadful in front of goal and largely inconsistent,at least sturridge can be moulded into a good player

and that Eto'o--Ibra deal was :JC_doubledown:
