On a different note, is anyone getting sick of this media love in with Spuds and 'Arry? Whilst some may disagree, I thought Chelsea and to an extent Arsenal both went out fighting and it was to good teams by the narrowest of margins. Real Madrid aren't THAT good as Barca will prove over the coming weeks and Spurs lost 5-0 to them in a CL quarter final yet are still getting heaps of praise and accolades and now treated as some sort of cult heroes for English football? I'm getting tired of this media love in. Media have always sucked up to them and portrayed them as some kind of big club when they are not.

Already looking forward to the game on the 30th so we can put that final nail in the coffin for this era under 'Arry whilst hopefully making top 4 mathematically secure as well.

I'm disappointed after yesterday but for me the only redemption will be if we can put the Pikey's and Spuds in their place. Anything other than 6 points out of 6 from those games will leave me extremely disappointed.

Let's hope this Arsenal capitulation continues and City get their act together cos then I can seriously see us and City wrapping up 2nd and 3rd spot leaving the Goons and Spuds to battle it out for 4th, which will be a laugh either way. ::ChELSeAFaN::

Does anyone even think the Spuds will be a threat next season? They look as though they may have to have a complete overhaul this season or next? I think midtable obscurity beckons for them again

Dem spuds play and played like that Dirge of a song they have to sing why do they do it??? is just to annoy,it really is sh*te beyond sh*te,and the itv love in is toe curling, that twat of a commentator on itv just ruins everygame he commentates onand i really hate AT..

It was quite embarrassing the way they went on about how great they are and how proud they should be. Richard Keys suggested on talksh*te this morning that they should do a lap before kick off. I nearly fell over with laughter. It's amazing that you rarely hear anything about the huge amounts of money that they have spent. There average net spend over the past 5 years is only a little less than us (That's including our big splash in January) All you hear is 'They are well run club' or 'They have a strict wage structure'. They survive on smaller gates, a smaller worldwide fanbase and have a bigger squad. Outside investment as far as I know is what keeps them going. Do they get abused for it like ourselves and to an extent, City? No because they're seen as a cheery entertaining traditional giant of football. How long till 'arry is accused of playing around with brown envelopes?

I can't wait for the run in now. If we can get our act together then 2nd is realistic. Roll on the 30th.

oops !! dont know what happened to my reply - well I do - it was some sort of error (sorry there has been a system error and our technical team are looking into this)

I think I was moaning about the itv commentary tonight - when Bale dived in the are - "ah well you have to expect some desparation tonight " (ok to cheat then if its spurs) - so gushing in anything spurs did - they lost 5-0 ffs.

Can you imagine if Drogba had dived in the area - "ooh its not nice to your own players cheat - I'm sure he will regret that tomorrow".

The media coverage of Spuds' run in the CL has been like that of a team like Chesterfield nearly reaching Wembley. It's truly cringeworthy. Are they really saying "Aaaaah, good old Spuds, adorable little team that they are?" 'Cos that what is sounds like to me.

And did they really get a standing ovation after going out 5-0?

Its embarrassing isnt it, lauded like returning heroes after losing 5-0 on aggregate ( a loss by the way which is the biggest losing margin by an english team in the champions league, ever). No mention of the diving by their magnificent players, no mention of the pathetic capitulation in Madrid. Old Twitchy really does have the media conned by his "good ol boy" act hasnt he. I still think theres no other manager that could have gotten away with raping Portsmouth of players the way he did after having a part in their almost destruction.

A little proof of just how they are being bummed by the media at the moment.

From the live text last night

1949: Gareth Bale, naughty boy. He goes down inside the Real box with Sergio Ramos in the vicinity, but it's a dive from the Welshman and the ref gets it spot on. Well, at 4-0 down, can you really blame him?

So its ok for a Spud to dive because they are 4-0 down and you cant really blame him? Lovely. Could you imagine something like this being written if Drogba had gone down in the last 5 minutes against Utd the other night. Not a chance.

I think the phrase "the champions league will be a lot worse off without tottenham next year if they dont make it" ........will it really???

Typically I'd credit a team's fans for giving their team their unequivocal support despite being outclassed and bent over a car bonnet over the two legs as it shows strong team spirit and loyalty, but as it's Tottenham...

...f**king small club attitude or what?

:laugh2: Magnificent.

The word "spurs" itself indicates some form of affection. It's a word I refuse to use except when related to those things cowboys wear.

This is a pair of spurs:

Tottenham on the other hand, is a North London sh*thole containing within its boundaries a small-time football club whose supporters are the scum of the earth.

Spuds and dippers season over, and next seasons over already for them both as well with no cl qualification, double bummer. :laugh2:

Others may not share my enthusiasm for him, but if Spurs don't make CL for next year, I wouldn't mind trying to get Modric away from WHL.

it was a pleasure watching that ball slip through gomes' pathetic hands and seeing his reaction in slow motion. Goodbye Spurs, hopefully we wont be seeing you playing champions league football until after im dead (and beyond)

f**k Spurs.

It was criminal of us to allow them to beat us thus take the 4th and final CL spot, we must not allow it to happen again and help City cling on to that 4th spot by nailing them in 2 weeks time. Hopefully Gooners can take a point off them and the dippers and City can finish the job.

Ok here's a question:

Tottenham v Arsenal next Wednesday. What would you prefer:

1. Tottenham to win because we've still got a chance of overtaking Arsenal

2. Arsenal to win because 4th spot can't be taken for granted (note: Tottenham still have to play Man City which makes it less likely that they'll both overtake us.

3. Arsenal to win because under no circumstances would I want Tottenham to win anything. No how, no way not ever.

Playing safe, i..e "a draw helps us either way" is not an option.

Hutch, I'd like to go with a combo #2 and #3.

Arsenal because 4th cannot be taken for granted AND I don't ever want Tottenham to win anything, ever.

My vote goes to:-

4. an outbreak of the ebola virus in the stadium.

This really is a difficult one, and its one I cant really answer until after the games from this weekend really. We win and any of Spuds and City lose then I would want spuds to win. We lose and it will be the exact opposite.

4. Draw. Look what happened the last time Spuds beat Arsenal at home, they had the belief they could go on and beat us and did. A draw would not only end Spuds chances of 4th (thus improving our own chances) but also put Arsenal out of the title race (assuming United beat Newcastle). We will catch Arsenal anyway, there is no way they will come out of Liverpool, United, Stoke and Bolton without at least losing once in the process, we'll catch Arsenal! I fancy the Dippers to beat them Sunday meaning tomorrow we can cut the gap to 1 point.

I know you said to not play it safe, so if I had to choose I'd go for# 1
