I think its gonna cost a lot more than that to get Kagawa. Dortmund locked up Gotze recently, have a very young team, and look to be on their way to another title. He might be stalling on a contract, but I am sure they arent going to offload him on the cheap.

He is from Japan. I don't think that Japan's so fanatic about football like China or Korea. So my point is, that i think you just mixed up those countries, a Japanese guy is far less a commercial hit then a Chinese or Korean.

From what I've seen the Japanese are just as football mad as any country in Asia. I think the lack of marketability of a Japanese star stems from them having Nakamura and Honda who are good, but not on top teams. Park has been a big success with Man Utd as a very able role player. I think a Japanese player as a star at a major European club would have to be be a big money maker.

Would like to see Jovetic. With:

Torres

Jovetic - Mata - Studge

We could see some great link-up plays, passes, speed and flair. Torres can drop deep and be the creator, Mata can drift to the sides, Studge can go up front or in as the 10 and Jovetic can play striker, wing (both sides) and 10. Floating positions is the thing in modern football. You don't see the traditional "poacher" or the Bremner anymore. Every player needs a bit of everything. We also get De Bruyne, a man I have great faith in, and hopefully Bamford can make some appearances (he can play CF and winger as well).

Also a right back would be great. Not the wing-back alá Wiel, but a right back who has the strength in defense.

I don't want to get rid of half the squad. To much experience out can be crucial. I can see Drogs out (don't think the "CF-fight" is doing anyone good), Malouda out and Bosingwa out. I think it will be an exiting summer. Not the 150 mp spending-spree Daily Fail talks about, but maybe 30-45 mp spendage?

I'd really like to see the club take stock at the end of the season and see who of the reserves can step up before opening the cheque book for another £100m.

NO, NO CHANCE TORRES ISNT A CREATOR HE IS A FINISHER!

What is the point in signing flair players and then expecting Torres to drop deep. He needs to play on the shoulder of defenders and being able to take his chances next season.

Haha, I take it back!

M'Vila will cost a fortune.

mvia will be 20 mil max, prob around 17 mil. been banging on about him for a while, great on the ball, commands and dominates midfield in a way weve not seen since we won the double. think that signing will depend on how much trust the power that be have in mikel and romeu to step up to the plate next seson as essien looks done.

Ok, I agree, but then we need to build the team around him. I'm still for Jovetic who's just as good as Hazard. We would probably need a good central midtfielder with great passing ability as well, Lampard simply doesn't do anymore 40+ games a season. In Liverscum Mascherano tackled and won the ball (like Essien). He would then give the ball to Alonso who passed up to Gerrard. Gerrard (for us, Mata) would play the through ball to Torres. Torres would score. If we can get one good winger and play Bertrand more (much faster than Cole these days), we would get good crosses as well.

But, I didn't say that Torres NEEDS to drop deep. He, a man who's played top football for 10 years knows when it's best. This year, I have a feeling that he's been dropping deep since the other team mates are incapable of whats needed. If we want the goalscoring machine back, we need to give him his favorite position. Torres has now become a Rooney. Not the fat ugly one, but a sexy one. Tackles, heads and run more in one game than he did in three seasons at Scumpool. We can't expect hard as hell-working AND goalscoring every match. It's about give and take. He can't fix the ball loss of Meireles and at the same time beat the keeper, he has no clone.

So, my "in-and-out" is:

In:

Jovetic

Good passer midfield with engine and power to run and win balls as well (Fellaini?)

Right back backup (not to expensive)

Out:

Malouda (wages, too old, too lazy)

Drogba (wants to move on, wages, lazy in 9/10 matches)

Bosingwa (double crap, treble crap, zillion times crap)

Meireles (average, simply just average. We can still get good money for him)

(Kalou) (maybe, personally I don't think he's good enough, also gotten greedy)

Then we have a pretty good squad with a mix of young players from our academy (Bamford, Josh, Kakuta, Bertrand etc etc) and some star players in Terry, Jovetic-ish, Torres, Mata etc etc.

Out of that list of youngsters i think the only one ready is Bertrand. The rest are still a long way off and may not even make it with us.

Not to be sounded mean, but Bertrand isnt actually a youngster anymore. He will be 23 next season same as sturridge and just a year younger than mata.

Josh probably needs another season on loan by the look of it, which is disappointing as I was sure he was ready to step up to the first team here, but he's been poor at Swansea (though to be fair, their midfield is better than ours).

I think Cole has to go this summer, or Bertrand will leave to find games elsewhere and I'm sick of us wasting these youngsters time and then them going onto good things elsewhere. Of course we could still scupper him by going and spaslhing out £20m on another LB, as rumoured under AVB, so who knows really.

Personally I'd like to see Conor Clifford at least given a few sub appearances to see what he's made of. Piazon as well and maybe Feurez.

True dat, but still from our own academy.

Kakuta has had a great start to his Ligue 1 career, and has been playing just as good as Hazard the last 7-8 matches. Josh still needs 10 kilos more muscle, but the passes he can make are genius. He can be our "Alonso" in the future. Bamford is a man I have great faith in and is also complete. De Bruyne has a right foot no one in Chelsea has, and can play winger or nr. 10.

Anyway, my point is that we don't need loads and loads of players in and out this summer. We have a possible top scorer in the PL (Torres), a future "Hulk" (Sturridge) and a more stable version of Silva (Mata). This season, nothing has worked. With Torres getting more and more confident each match, Mata stronger and stronger and our defence tighter than ever, it's only about making a few adjustments.

We've converted into a more direct and fast style of playing, suiting Mata/Torres/Sturridge much better than the "kick-balls-up-to-Drogba" tactic. We need one quality player as a winger, a player who can pass, drible and score. Jovetic-ish (Hazard, Gotze etc etc etc). Torres has finally got his speed back, Sturridge hopefully got his confidence back and Mata is tha boss. Tight, fast and furious.

I agree, it would be nice to see some big names coming in the summer but I think we need just a few smart buys.

Players who will fit in the team and it all depends on who is our manager next season.

I hope whoever it is has already agreed or has given us a list of players he wants.

Not sure where you are from mate but I certainly beg to differ on Japanese football not being as commercially viable as the other two nations you mentioned are... First off, football is no where near the size and/or popularity say as Baseball is in Japan but it's a very close second and if you know Japanese sports fanatics you will know that shouts volumes... My wife is from Japan and we happened to be down in the Dotombori in Osaka back in May 2010 when Japan ran circles around the England National team, if memory serves me right in a friendly... The Japanese were out in full force supporting the Blue Samurai on and it was a whole lot of fun drinking large glasses of beer (and I won't even mention the Saki after the final whistle) in the late evening! They are quite fanatical and in any major city you go to in Japan, it would not be difficult to find an izakaya (Japanese pub) with supporters and/or an Adidas shop sporting all the worlds teams jerseys. Football is quite big in Japan! Kagawa is rumored to have stalled on talks with Dortmund because he wants to play in the Premier League and if the brass at Chelsea had any foresight, they would be giving him what he wants (which isn't very much, think 10M?)... I have been saying over a year now why they haven't gone after Kaisuke Honda, who wants away from Russia because he too would shine... Lock up one or the pair and the jersey sales and television revenue would pay for itself alone, plus we would be getting some fine creative talent to play alongside Mata.I pity the teams that are grouped with Japan in the WC 2014 in Brazil because they will not stand a chance! Between Kagawa, Honda, and Miayaichi in the midfield there is not going to be much hope for their opposing sides back-line! I know those Gooners are all high on Chamberlain, Theo, and Wilshire but watch out for Miyaichi. He is a phenomenal talent with great vision and skill and at only 19 (maybe 20 now) he will be quite destructive to opposing sides. In fact, Theo will lose his place to this kid probably next year because he will run him right off the park... Japan is going to be a dominant force for the next few years and its going to put they're players on the map in terms of superb talent. That's just my opinion, we will see if it comes to fruition...

Hi mate, yea I have heard that, don't get me wrong he's a decent player but the jump between the SPL and EPL is big, especially to us, if we could get him cheap might be worth the gamble. You might disagree as I take it you're a Rangers fan ha?

Nah mate, I'm not a Rangers fan. Really shouldn't have made my name Blues brothers. :laugh2:

I hope whoever it is has already agreed or has given us a list of players he wants.

that would be far too competent

Who ever the new boss will be i hope he is brought in at the end of May so he has time to identify targets and move the players he doesnt want out. My fear is that we will appoint a new manager late June and he will bring in one or two playes and just keep the same old players we already have. This is why i believe that Jose is the only man who can get us back to winning ways straight away because he has already worked with most of the squad and no doubt he will know all about the others, he will know where we are weak and who we can improve.

More Shinji Kagawa rumours as he doesnt look like hes going to sign a new contract. Apprantly either United or Chelsea are his preferred destinations. I dont know where he would play in a 4321 as Mata is first choice behind the striker. Christmas tree?? Doubt it. Probably just rotation.

When it comes formation that'll suit him, i doubt United will change theirs easily, I see them sticking him on the wing.

But, we can change easily to suit him.

Chelsea have moved a step closer to signing Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo after reports in Spain claimed he has been offered the chance to play for the west London club.

Negredo has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge following his impressive displays in La Liga.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool have also been monitoring his progress, but it now seems that Chelsea are in pole position to clinch his signature.

Spanish newspaper Marca is claiming that a group of agents acting for Negredo have offered Chelsea the opportunity to begin negotiations with the Spanish international.

Negredo is refusing to comment on the speculation, but it looks certain that he will make a big money move at the end of the season.

Is he any good? Not really heard much about him. Who would you compare him to?

Absolutely agree. Been saying it for zonks.

I think Newcastle would want about 30 million for him. Also if we dont make top 4 then we have less appeal for him.

We should get Tiote , this guy is a beast.

Carlo wanted him last season as i recall, he's the natural successor for The Bison

No idea how good he is or who he's comparable to, I just found the link and decided to post it.

He does have a pretty solid goal record for Sevilla though.

Wouldn't M'Villa be a better investment?
