Boyne:Some very historic pics there mate. Cheers.

And an interesting read of the Chronical. The humour in those days was 'music hall' inspired, very innocent and prim and proper, although Max Miller was considered risqué in his brand of comedy. Probably the Bernard Manning of his time.

Couldn't imagine Christiano Ronaldo or Messi getting messy like that, doubt it would be in their contract!!!! Can remember many a time coming back from park like that, mum saying "get your kit off at the door", a few years later we would be saying the same thing to a bird but with a whole new meaning!!!

Definitely Ted Drake in the middle, I think shaking hands with Les Stubbs and Peter Sillett in the centre.

Our local rec, early 70s there was always someone wearing a Chelsea Kit with the sew on square rampant lion badge- replica kits didn’t exist then- plain red or blue strips used to be in boxes and you customised to suit your team- not sure how the white stripe down the shorts thing worked out, but definately remember me older brother and his mates wearing them- pretty sure you couldn’t buy them like that.

Leather footballs you used to coat with dubbin to protect from water-,remember having a punch up with me Bro’ because he was bouncing me ball on the pavement on the way to the park, scuffing the thing up.

That's one more than me.

Strange how times have changed and it looks odd seeing those all those hats.

I think it was through necessity not fashion. My old man worked on the railway and was off to work at 4 in the morning. Summer or winter, it was still bloody cold at that time, so on went the flat cap.

I can only spot one head without a hat or cap!

Just spent 10 minutes trying to find the one without a hat or cap and failed !

Certainly in up here in the West of Scotland. It was a five and a half day working week back then .

Many would often go straight from their place of work to the football on a Saturday afternoon.
