They had a pitch side advertising hoarding which read TODAYS MATCH IS SPONSORED BY SPAGHETTI HOUSE RESTAURANTS. The sign must have been sh*ttily made in two pieces; a player collided with it and it split in half, leaving TODAYS MATCH IS SPONSORED BY SPAGHETTI for most of the game
July 1, 20206 yr I think that this has been posted before but no harm in posting this again. Great walking up those steps.

I remember in the 70s and 80s before passenger trains were put back on the line, you'd see a rattler going past the back of the East Stand hauling carriage after carriage of aggregate; massive long thing that would take ages to go past. It was more interesting to watch than some of the dross football being served up.
July 2, 20206 yr Bit of a curio this we didn't play Millwall while CW played for us and I can't believe anyone in their right mind would have arranged a pre season friendly against them or a testimonial or maybe they did ?. An overseas pre season comp maybe ?. Edit is it Millwall ? actually after looking again I don't think it is 😁 Edited July 2, 20206 yr by bluehaze

We played Millwall in a Pre Season Match, well you could hardly call it a friendly A 1-1 draw, http://www.bounder.friardale.co.uk/Summaries/1980.htm

A good day out at Millwall is not possible under any circumstances!. I thought it was Millwall but got to the stage where I was thinking it was someone else. Millwall did an open day at my local park about 1980 my mate who's a massive Chelsea fan got a top from them he wore it to football training for the next couple of years and I'm pretty sure it's the top in the picture.

Edit, seems it's true, trains carrying nuclear waste from Germany and Switzerland travelled from wherever, thru Brixton on to Olympia towards Sellafield Edited July 2, 20206 yr by The Rising Sun Explanation added
