Played a couple of matches that season before the Full Members Cup Final after Eddie was injured and then played a couple of games after: those two awful results against the West Ham and QPR. I was trying to remember who played for the rest of the season in goal and had to look up that we signed Tony Godden on loan. Probably Godden's greatest moment with us was when he saved two penalties at Old Trafford the following season. A good day out with us winning 1-0.

The other goalie in the season 85/86 was Les Fridge. He only played one game and that was the last of the season when we lost 5-1 at home to Watford. His confidence must have been shot to pieces.

I was going to put this in the Corona Virus thread but I didn't think anyone would know who he was.

I think you have to be of a certain age!!  I was only 10 in 1978 when I started going, but you still have to learn your history on and off the pitch.  My history teacher was quite impressed when I chose to do a project on the club!!
 

saw the above at Marseille in 1999 with a Second World War gas mask when the cs gas canisters were raining in from the military!!

Those two games destroyed his confidence. He was only 5 10 or 11 so he wasn’t the best at crosses and looked small in the goal.

I was at that Watford game ,mid week if i recall ,got stuffed of course, but the statto in me always remembers it because of les fridge being in goal...funny how we can fondly recall a 5 1 home defeat to Watford because of the goalie making his debut 

like many i had high hopes for Steve Francis ,bit like kepa good shot stopper but lacking a bit of presence
