Have you got far to travel? Fortunately it's not a late kick-off. I remember a couple of games last season when there was a strike and got home in the early hours. Bloody rail strikes. Yeah, from the south coast mate . No London trains from my ststion today . Slim chance of a lift , but only if someone drops out . I don't often regret moving from South London ! 😂😂😂
September 2, 20232 yr Today’s match on The Big Match Revisited was actually from Feb 1978. It was us v Man Utd. Not us v Ipswich Town from January. Apologies!

No ticket but planned to meet mates at the ground for a drink - sometimes think that the most enjoyable part of the match day experience is the pre and post match boozing and revelry. Looks like I’m now shopping with The Long Haired General 😕

Looks like I’m now shopping with The Long Haired General 😕 There's a couple who sit behind me in the MHU and I think they travel up from Portsmouth. They weren't at yesterday's game. Noticed that a few other regulars weren't at the match. @Fruit Bat agree about the most enjoyable part of match day can be the pre and post match drinks.

Well have to organise “ a wee swally “ sometime. Don’t know whether Rising Sun and any others interested?

September 10, 20232 yr From our relegation season, a gem of a goal from Kerry Dixon. Great interception by Steve Clarke, lovely skill, turn and pass from Mickey Hazard, and a superb finish: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPAIqp3clVY#t=26m50s
September 10, 20232 yr ^^ The above link does work. It won't embed because I added the time to the end of the URL. We absolutely got ourselves relegated that year. We had a side full of good players with some real quality: Niedzwiecki (before his career-ending injury), Clarke, Pates, Dorigo, Bumstead, Hazard, Clive Wilson, Nevin, Kevin Wilson, Dixon, Durie. There are several of them on YouTube on this channel: https://www.youtube.com/@cpv4cfc298/videos Edited September 10, 20232 yr by Backbiter

He was a huge Leicester City hero, in the days of ex- Chelsea Keith Weller (very good player we should have hung on to) and the legendary Frank Worthington. After he retired he became their on-pitch MC (a bit like Neil Barnett, only with a real playing career behind him). I think he had a stroke not long ago but made a pretty much full recovery. He was big mates with Showaddywaddy frontman Dave Bartram, and they used to be regulars in a pub I used to go to. Both very friendly guys.
