With a squad of 20 plus there would have been duplicate shirts for the photo call. Thanks - just struck me as odd that he wasn't wearing the number 8.

The link also led to this long-throw masterclass from 1974 (a match played on my 13th birthday, if the date is correct):

April 28, 20206 yr Palace 82 the infamous Paul Canoville game still comfortably the worse thing I've ever seen as a Chelsea fan. Another memory from this game was Alan Mayes going on a Pat Nevin- Newcastle type run rounding the keeper and missing from about two yards !

Doesn't this photo sum up everything that was wrong with crowd control back then? Cram the away fans into the tightest Nun's crotch of a corner of terracing, while the Palace Nigels in the two other pens of the Holmesdale terrace have the freedom of Selhurst Park! I know we had a reputation back then, but even so.

I know we had a reputation back then, but even so. I was going to mention that as it goes the same thing happened at Highbury in 87 which was even worse because there was a segregation gap something that I only found out 25 years later after watching the goals on Youtube. I'm 6ft 2 and couldn't see over the crowd I've been in some bad crushes over the years White Hart Lane the same season was nearly as bad but the Highbury one was worse because of the stupidity of the old bill. WHL we had to jump over the fence in the segregated bit between the Park Lane and the Shelf purely for self preservation.
April 29, 20206 yr Also on 29th April. This time in 1967 we beats Leeds 1-0 in the FA Cup Semi final at Villa Park.
