Thought I would open this topic so that everyone is able to keep up to date with the youth/reserve team players that have been sold by CFC.

Jacopo Sala has just signed a 3 year deal at hamburg

Michael Mancienne 4 year deal at Hamburg.

Just everyone update so we can keep up with the youngsters getting sold.

I'm disappointed in Sala going - especially so soon after Borini. He was another who looked a decent prospect but how decent we'll never know? Who's next?

Strange we're releasing players when we don't officially have a manager at present, although I guess he's been consulted - whoever he is?!!!

Tbh if they aren't going to make any impact on our team then we may aswell try and get money for them. Let's hope we keep some that can have a future impact on cfc

I agree in general but he's having a crack at prying Josh away now, or so it would seem.

I'm getting tired of reading about this prick Arnesen raiding out youth academy. Roman sort it out.

Really?

To me this is wonderful as we get cold hard cash for players who aren't going to make it at the club.

Add Scala, Mancienne and a few others together and suddenly you are talking real money which can be used to strengthen better players.

Found this earlier - made me smile slightly

Dear Mr. Arnesen,

Is it ok if I call you Frank? I realise there was a different, much more important, Frank at Stamford Bridge, so it could be confusing to be called Frank, but that's what I'm going to call you*, so too bad. Anyway. Frank. I know you're lonely in Germany - there can't be much other reason for acquiring Jacopo Sala or Michael Mancienne (seriously, you're bringing them in to play football well I have some bad news for you) - but the solution is not to poach every Chelsea player who's ever spoken to you.

You have some friends now. Michael and Jacopo are nice enough guys. Jeffrey Bruma might come to visit as well. So really, there's no need to pick up anyone else from the organisation. Especially anyone named Josh McEachran. Because if you do, I am going to cry, and I'll forward you a new video of me crying every day for the rest of your life and that will be really really really god damn freaky**.

Anyway. You take good care of Jacopo. He's not very good; maybe you can fix him. Good luck to you there. But hands off the rest of our squad, eh?

Yours faithfully,

-Graham

PS: Jacopo Sala sounds like a bounty hunter from Star Wars, but doesn't come with a jet pack or flamethrower gloves. You may already know this.

*I'm doing this for timing reasons - whenever I write I sound out the word in my head as I'm typing, and 'Mr. Arnesen' takes too long.

**Originally my threat was going to be that I fly to central Africa, contract ebola, then fly to Hamburg, but I don't actually want to end up on any NSA watch lists

Two years ago I really rated Jacopo Sala. He looked the real deal but totally lost his way towards the end of the FA Youth Cup winning campaign. This season he has been anonymous in Youth and reserve games. Provided we got something for him (cash) I think that this will be a good deal. I am however, very disappointed that we have let Borini go, I am sure that he is already better (and far more intelligent) than Kalou. Mancienne was simply bot good enough for Chelsea.

I dont think Borini was happy to try and earn his place into the 1st team, he wanted 1st team football. It is obvious it would of taken atleast a couple of seasons for him to break into the team, I dont think he would be happy with that, so maybe it was best for both parties even though I really rated him as a player

I think his agent may well have had a part to play in convincing him he deserved 1st team football from some of the stories that were doing the rounds in january. horrible leaches, agents are a disgrace at times when it comes to young players.

Didn't Borini miss Italy as well? That might have been the main reason why he wanted to leave. A bit like Crespo a few years ago.

Sounds reasonable to me - he could have stayed at Swansea and played first team football at a club he'd had a chance to settle in to, but instead decided to make the move to a club that's about 30miles from where he was born - could very well be a homesickness thing

I dont get all the Arnesen hate to be honest. Do you really think our club is so impotent that a former employee will come and cherry pick our top youngsters for his new employers and they'll just observe from a distance? I am sure everything is going on with a plan. In fact I sometimes think there was a some cunning plan in the background in letting Arnesen join Hamburg. Maybe people saw the success of German youth system and planned to make Hamburg our feeder club? And this is all a part of the long term plan.

Anything is possible.

So it looks like a clean out from the ressies with HSV and Arnesen taking them. I wonder if this was something decided by Chelsea, maybe clear out the old to bring through the new. Or was it just bids from HSV that were just too good to turn down.

Seems that way, but our U15's hammered Man City 9-0 last year (who traditionally have good youth and now new investments) which suggests that the next crop is even better. Just got to trust the people in charge that these guys wouldn't cut it in our first team and cash in.

Gokhan Tore to Hamburg for €1.3m.

This departure is the one that disappoints me the most. A quite physical attacking midfielder/winger with pace and skill who looked very promising. In some mathces I thought he looked even more promising than McEachran! He was just the type of player the first team needs at the moment, so it's frustrating to see him go.

I would only understand letting him go if we put a buy-back clause on him because he could turn out into a great player

Also it's weird if we sell Gokan Tore because Hiddink rates him highly. It's an odd one.

The academy is not only to promote home growth of players for our own use but also to provide revenue by sale of the players thought not be able to make the grade with us, be it ability or attitude. With this in mind I don't have no problem with some youth players moving on.The academy should eventually become self sufficient.

The only question I would ask about Arneson and our board , exactly what has he been doing the past 6 mths after he announced his intention to depart. Has he been feathering his own nest whilst being paid under our employment?

I understand the Youth system funding itself & IMO selling Mancienne was the right decision has he has had several loan spells but Sala & Tore? Who is making the sell decision & can you actually judge young players effectively by the youth/reserve league without loaning them out to gain 1st team exp.?

Massively disappointed in the sale of Tore but Reckon its the Roman show & we are all guests.

Tore sale is an odd one unless there are some hidden clauses. Maybe its like the Alex deal with PSV where we'd buy him back for 1 GBP in 2-3 years time when he's ready to step up after getting invaluable experience in German football.

Gokham Tore was another player who, similar to Sala (above) appears to have lost his way. Too old for the Youth team ??? and really not good enough in the ressies last year. If there is cash on the table, maybe we should grab it.
