Posted October 14, 201113 yr I have to say, after his petulant little outburst at the world cup last year I'm glad he's banned for the Euros, I doubt we'll get through the group so might as well not take the little pr**k!!
October 14, 201113 yr I agree. As good a player as he can be, the guy is a total arsehole and as much as I would cheer him on if he was playing for England and we were progressing through a tournament, the way he has behaved over the last few seasons, he doesn't deserve to go and I hope he gets left out of the final squad. If Sturridge can keep performing for us between now and the end of the season, then Spud faces loss will be Danny's gain and he should have a very decent chance of making the squad.
October 14, 201113 yr Sorry, but are you guys nuts? Rooney was an idiot to do what he did and he let himself down again. But that was nowhere near the stamp on Riccy C's nuts or any of his other past misdeeds. In the grand scheme of "violent conduct" it was absolutely nothing. Based on how he walked off the field I would say he knows he did wrong. Would AVB ice TOrres out of the team becuase we was an idiot and got himself sent off against Norwich? Nay. Rooney has become a better player, and certainly taken his game to another level. Even if he had the personal habits of Carroll ENgland would be nuts to leave him at home. I think it says it all that one person who shares your opinion is Stan Collymore! Not sure you want to be in that company, because the dogging joker suggested adding Stewart Downing instead so that England could "get younger". Figure that one out!
October 14, 201113 yr I can understand that rivalries at club level in England can lead to fans disliking the other teams players. But I believe If you are English you should support Wayne Rooney for the national team. He is an outstanding player, One of the best strikers in the world. He will be a major loss for England at the European Championships. I find it hard to see how "so called" England fans can just say "We don't need him" I believe Rooney is the best player on the England team. Now that he is out for the group stage, Every other country in the tournament will be hoping to get England in the draw.
October 14, 201113 yr Personally I couldn't give a toss about England or Rooney.these days. Given the ban, when England predictably don't qualify from the groups into the knockouts it'll be interesting to see if the press give up their Rooney w**kfest and blame him. October 14, 201113 yr But how good a player he is (ON HIS DAY) is not the point. He now has a three match ban - that is ALL of the group stage matches. He f**ked up - he has to accept his fate and to take him just on the basis that we MAY reach the latter stages and that he MAY have an impact (his England form isn't really anything exceptional), is just wrong.
October 14, 201113 yr Author Re the Collymore quotes, yeah he may love a bit of dogging but in fairness to him he actually talks a lot of sense about football if you listen to him on the radio! As Nibs has said, not about his footballing ability, more about his attitude, and what if his dads caught breaking the law again the day before the 1/4 final and he kicks out again, gets himself banned for the rest of the the games, that would really be worth taking him wouldn't it! October 14, 201113 yr England won't win it with or without him. Quarter final team at best as has been proved over the last number of decades. The media and most of the English population seem to thik they are good enough, for whatever reason I do not know.

See wikipedia. Every major player and club in the prem has their article locked constantly becuase it they didnt they would be vandalized constantly. Its a sad reality that few people can appreciate good players anymore and rise above club loyalties, as I try to do.* Except Gerrard cause he's a c*nt *yes that was sarcasm, and no im not holier than anyone, but what I said is true
October 14, 201113 yr Iambam Thats my point, why take a player for 1 game? But think of it this way. He sits out for the group stage, england qualify, and he thinks in his cro-magnan brain "right, im going to stick it to UEFA and all the other detractors out there" and goes on to play like an animal in the knockouts. He will probably have alot to prove and nobody has ever accused him being a slouch when it comes to effort.
October 14, 201113 yr As I mentioned in another thread, I used to be a big England fan because that's where I fell in love with the game, when I was in London for the 2006 WC and because we usually had about 6 guys in the squad. Over the years though, I have fallen out of love with the England team, mostly due to how the press and 90% of the fans treat our players like sh*t. This Rooney thing is funny to me because, as usual, it seems that a lot of the press has been running with the idea that England actually have a chance next summer and now Rooney has gone and messed that all up. I think there is going to be some great football at Euros, but England will probably not have much to do with it. Germany and Spain, and to a lesser degree Holland, are just incredibly stacked. If England get drawn against one of those teams in the QF, I don't think it would be pretty.
October 14, 201113 yr Normally id laugh at rooney and hope hed f**k off.(but)..he is in my opinion our best chance for goals...As an England player i would have wanted him up front every match (but ) hes a selfish prick with too much doh, not enough brain and has let us all down..
October 14, 201113 yr Not sure how many people have seen this, but Rooney's appeal to UEFA has leaked to the press. It's an interesting read, not sure about his appeal angle but it may just work with UEFA even though they're notorious for not budging. Who knows what strange voodoo they use for the appeals process Oh and turns out it's hand-written

October 27, 201113 yr Got to say this is kind of the reverse of the JT slagging that would be going on amongst other fans now. f**k Terry he's an old and slow racist we don't need him anyway. f**k Rooney, he's a c**t never plays well for England, always get's sent off. It's tribal loyalties in front of the national team. I've said it before but it's a big part of this notion that 'I don't care if England fail, as long as my club's players aren't the ones to f**k it up.' Be it in the papers, on Talksport, or at Wembley, the recriminations are brutal and it rubs off on the players. It's an attitude that creates an environment of fear. Risks are discouraged because you don't want to be the guy who screws up, so you keep your head down, don't play the risky ball because you don't want to be hooted for giving it away, don't dive in to the challenge because you're worried about what'll happened if you go off. It's a cancer on the England team and a big part of why they fail to fulfil their potential.
October 27, 201113 yr He never even plays good for england anyway. I'd say only Gerrard and Cole do. Gerrard? Really? When?
October 27, 201113 yr Re the Collymore quotes, yeah he may love a bit of dogging but in fairness to him he actually talks a lot of sense about football if you listen to him on the radio! I couldn't agree with you less. He's an inarticulate moron. Which puts him in good company on Talksh*te
October 27, 201113 yr No-one on talksport talks any sense. The "pundits" are ratings whores who will say anything to get callers. And the callers are f**king idiots who buy it. Edited October 27, 201113 yr by BlueSkies
October 27, 201113 yr its easy to say we dont need him, whats he ever done in an england shirt that screams out a reason as to why he is absolutely crucial to englands set up? '66 was done without a wayne rooney....
