The reason for that is because Meireles is desperately raging against the dying of the light. He is going bald but still wants to be cool.

I've never been in favour of the gloves or tights approach back on the topic. If you're requiring tights to keep warm then you're not working hard enough.

I'm for it. In fact, I think he should find other ways to look even more ridiculous. A rainbow colored headband would be a nice touch, perhaps switch the tights to a dark shade of purple and some bright pink cleats as well.
