Posted February 8, 201213 yr I have always admired Falcao, his career stats are 219 appearances with 138 goals which is pretty exceptional. It would mean Torres going back to Athletico, so both parties happy ? or maybe they wouldn't want him.. Just a rumour after all.
February 8, 201213 yr Wouldn't be a fair deal. We'd have to give them Torres and probably about £30m
February 8, 201213 yr They just got Falcao, it would take a ridiculous amount of money for them to even consider letting him go. Throwing Torres in would do no favours either, still a lot of money to buy out his contract and the sh*tstorm that is his clauses.
February 8, 201213 yr Pisses me off that we would do these deals. We could have bid for him in the summer, he was already hot property then, but waiting until his stock rises again? We got transfer deals right the season Jose came in.
February 8, 201213 yr Atletico paid about £35 million for Falcao. You have to think that if AVB really wanted him, he'd have been able to buy him back then. I assume AVB didn't want him. Of course, in the summer it was hard to foresee that both Drogba and Torres would score so few goals.
February 8, 201213 yr From what i've seen of Falcao, he is the player that Torres used to be. That was my opinion in the summer, so you would AVB would know that. Maybe he was told he had to get the best out of what he had.
February 8, 201213 yr Falcao went to Atletico for a lot less than we were offering, purely because Porto were pissed with us. Its nice in theory but makes no sense from their end.
February 8, 201213 yr How well has he even played over at Madrid? Christiano Ronaldo - 24 Lionel Messi - 23 Gonzalo Higuain - 14 Rademel Falcao - 14 Edited February 8, 201213 yr by Castiel
February 8, 201213 yr Atletico paid 35m for him? I'm guessing we won't be getting him unless we either match that or go above. I'd prefer to go for Soldado instead, if we could get him cheaper of course. Also, my biggest concern is that strikers like Falcao, Higuain, Soldado won't function in our system with the type of slow possession football AVB likes to play or with our current squad.
February 8, 201213 yr Falcao went to Atletico for a lot less than we were offering, purely because Porto were pissed with us. That doesn't fit with the early rumors that I remember reading. The Daily Mail says incoming Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas wants to bring with him Radamel Falcao and Joao Moutinho, two key members of the side he guided to a European and domestic treble this season. Porto president Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa immediately put a price on their heads last night, valuing Falcao at £26.5m and Moutinho at £35.5m. Again, Atletico paid £35 million for Falcoa, more than his release clause, which I saw reported as around £30 million.
February 9, 201213 yr That doesn't fit with the early rumors that I remember reading. Again, Atletico paid £35 million for Falcoa, more than his release clause, which I saw reported as around £30 million. It's obviously incorrect then, why would throw 5m down the drain?
February 9, 201213 yr It's obviously incorrect then, why would throw 5m down the drain? Irrelevant. The point is that Falcao was affordable, as these things go. So one must assume that AVB didn't really want him last summer.
February 9, 201213 yr 50m being reported in the mail. Have no idea if it includes Torres as I didn't bother reading it. If true- complete bollox, and yet another overpriced purchase of CFC

Just a rumour after all. is it actually a rumour you've seen elsewhere or are you making it up?? Wouldn't be a fair deal. We'd have to give them Torres and probably about £30m I'd love us to offer ft + 15m for falcao. They will never swap though ridiculous posts. I presume Zeta is joking but still ridiculous. If we wanted Falcao we could have gotten him in the summer. If we offered to swap Torres for Falcao, Atletico would probably bite our hand off because Torres is a legend over there...
February 9, 201213 yr Irrelevant. The point is that Falcao was affordable, as these things go. So one must assume that AVB didn't really want him last summer. To be fair he wasn't in an easy position. He had Fernando Torres, supposedly one of the greatest strikers of a generation, and probably expectations from Roman and the board that he could get him firing. How could he justify asking for £35m for another striker on top of that? Of course its necessary now with Torres showing no signs of returning to his prolific status but I can't really blame him for missing out on Falcao when we had the chance. We should have bought him, or Aguero, rather than Torres. That isn't AVB's fault.
February 9, 201213 yr IMO we need a terrier list option (tevezesque, Aguero-like or a Suarez type) other top teams seem to have them in their arsenal but we are lumped with 3 CF's. This will make our frontline more fluid and multifunctional and considering we have spent a fortune on Lukaku, there is not point buying another CF. Assuming we lose Drogba and decide we want to get rid of Torres, I'd prefer Rossi/Jovetic.

Legend or not, Falcao has a goal per every 1.5 games in his career. I think it would be us doing the hand biting.

February 9, 201213 yr Legend or not, Falcao has a goal per every 1.5 games in his career. I think it would be us doing the hand biting. Yeah because it's incredibly hard to maintain such a scoring ratio in Portugal where Hulk looks like Messi
February 9, 201213 yr Yeah because it's incredibly hard to maintain such a scoring ratio in Portugal where Hulk looks like Messi 16 appearances, 14 goals in La Liga so far - where Messi looks like Messi.

Has nothing to do with them wanting him or not, they still have to pay off his fees, not to mention the clauses. Why anyone would want Falcao of all people, who feeds off service (something which is non-existent at Chelsea), to come to Chelsea is beyond my understanding. Torres is miles better than he is, would rather focus on getting players who can provide him with service.
February 9, 201213 yr To be fair remodez, Daniel Sturridge who actually gets into good positions in the box is top scorer for us this season. If Torres focused on being the one in the box rather than the one on the wing he might score more.
