dkw
I`m going to a sportsmans do in a few months where Chopper is speaking and I have been asked to put together a little quiz. Basically I need to pick 4 players for each position from 4 different era`s for Chopper to pick his favourite team and see if anyone can match it. The era`s are Choppers own time, Jose Mourinho`s era, the current era and any other legends that dont fit into these 3 times. Now sure how best to do this so open to ideas from he clever lads and lasses on here, may do a poll at the end if needed. shedpensioner
I'll go with a less obvious position Goalkeeper. Fatty Foulkes Peter Bonneti Carlo Cuddicini Petr Cech Edit, Oh and have a good time, I've heard he's a really good after dinner speaker! dkw
They were my choices for keeper. they pretty much pick themselves really.
Maksimov
I'll go with a less obvious position Goalkeeper. Fatty Foulkes Peter Bonetti Carlo Cudicini Petr Cech Good list. The first two are obviously way before my time, but as great as Cudicini was for us, I probably would have to switch him for Ed de Goey(I'll probably be called all sorts of names for this suggestion*). * Hello Val! BlueBeard
CB David Webb Marcel Desailly John Terry + Paul Elliott I'd probably have picked Eddie Niedzwiecki instead of Fatty Foulkes, but then Foulkes is a kind of folk-hero.
shedpensioner
I was going to go with Eddie Niedzwiecki, only went with Foulkes due to cult status!
Katon
I'd probably have picked Eddie Niedzwiecki instead of Fatty Foulkes, but then Foulkes is a kind of folk-hero. Cech and Bonetti seem like a clear enough top two (to a relatively young fan, anyway) that going with folk heros for the other two spots doesn't make much difference. And is Ferreira on the list of right-backs because we needed someone from Jose's era and he was part of our best defence, or are we actually that thin on good players? Without era restrictions I'd take Ivan any day.

That was just Plokkors suggestion, anyone can put what thay like, if you have another 4 right backs that you think are better make the suggestion :)
nonotnowjim
I guess up front also picks itself... Ossy Kerry / Bentley Drogs Tambling
PloKoon13
I put Paulo in so it matched up with the 'Mourinho era' criterion. Otherwise we'd all be voting for Joey Jones right now...
Katon
OK, then I'll suggest the list I was hinting at: RB David Webb Steve Clarke Dan Petrescu Branislav Ivanovic Given that Ivan's been here for most of Paulo's career, it feels a bit silly to call them of different eras even if Ivan never actually played for Jose. Katon
I guess up front also picks itself... Ossy Kerry / Bentley Drogs Tambling I'd go Osgood Dixon Drogba Zola as I think all four of those are must-haves, and apart from possibly Zola (if there's a support striker slot) there's nowhere else to put them. Actually, that reminds me - for a position where multiple players will be picked, like CB or CM, and probably CF too, do you want four players total or four per starter? Picking four CMs out of our entire history will be a challenge.

BlueBeard
Regarding full-backs, it might be an idea to select Ron Harris - you don't want to upset Chopper, I can just see him taking dkw out with a throat high challenge when he reads the list

dkw
Brilliant Steve, the only glaring ommision from that list of yours is Zola, I cant believe you missed him out. But I will use that list with Zola in for the competition, thanks very much mate. Now, how about we use Steves list and see who gets closest to Choppers choice.
