Hey guys,

I've been thinking about next season and what needs to happen in order for us to recover from this shaky season. Firstly, as I think most of us would like to see, is the return of the Special One. Rafa Benitez has apparently mentioned that a deal is already in place with Mourinho. Also, I don't think that Cristiano Ronaldo would come to Chelsea. I can see him going to other clubs, but if he does return to the EPL, it would most definitely be Manchester United, considering the reception he got at Old Trafford recently in the Champions League. Anyway, I shall list the players that need to leave the Bridge either because they are too old or simply aren't good enough.

OUT

Benayoun, Ferreira, Malouda, Hilario, Turnbull, Essien, Torres, Kakuta, Affane, Davila, Lalkovic and Hutchinson.

It will be sad to see Malouda go, after the fallout he had with the Chelsea management. Essien also isn't the bison he once was, and if he stayed with team, he would likely be a fringe player at best. But the big decision would be to let Torres leave. Honestly, he just doesn't make the cut. Of course the huge transfer fee will always be one of RA's worst mistakes, but it is in fact Torres' wages that are eating up too much money. To get an ineffective and expensive player off the squad would be strategically and financially good move.

IN

Falcao - centre striker in FIFA's World XI, not too much to say. We need a proven forward to be clinical with the service from Mazacar.

Fellaini - powerful, defensively adept and aerially proficient. We need another physical presence in the side. He can attack when he sees the opportunity but can also sit back, make the crunch tackles and recycle possession with the following man.

Paulinho - probably the Corinthians best player this season and was impressive in the Club World Cup. He could form an impressive partnership with Fellaini in the 2-man pivot of a 4-2-3-1 formation. If not Paulinho, either of the Bender brothers could suffice.

Dede - ANOTHER BRAZILIAN!! Arguably the best centre back in Brazil at the moment. Dede will most likely go to a European club this summer, and I am surprised that Chelsea have not shown more interest in him.

de Vrij - Wow! only 21 years old but already captain of Feyenoord. This 6 foot 2 centre back would add plenty of depth to the squad. We do not need a big name signing like Hummels or Ramos if we can get Dede and Stefan de Vrij.

McCarthy - Hilario and Turnbull get me nervous every time Petr Cech takes the night off. I can see Jamal Blackman becoming the 3rd choice keeper, and I think that Reading's Alex McCarthy is a cheap but solid choice for the 2nd choice keeper position.

Shaw - great and technically impressive young left back at Southampton to become the successor to Cole. Bertrand is fine but I do not see him developing too much further than where he already is. Apparently, PVA has been carving up the Eresdivie with Vitesse, and he could also come back from loan and be integrated into the first team side to eventually become second choice left back (after Shaw) once Ashley Cole leaves at the end of next season.

So, with these 7 signings, plus some of the loan returns and promotion of the youth players, Chelsea definitely have the potential to win the the EPL next season. Here is how the whole squad would look (also, some of the youth may be sent on loan to other EPL clubs to gain more experience):

GK: Cech, McCarthy, Blackman  [3]
RB: Azpilicueta, Wallace, Kane [3]
RB/CB: Ivanovic, Kalas, Omeruo [3]
CB: Dede, Cahill, de Vrij, Terry [4]
LB: Cole, Shaw, Bertrand, van Aanholt [4] (either release Bertrand or van Aanholt, one of them should probably leave)
CDM/CB: Luiz, Ake, Chalobah [3]
CDM: Paulinho, Mikel, Romeu [3]
CM: Fellaini, Ramires, Lampard, McEachran [4]
SS/WAM: Mata, Hazard, Oscar, De Bruyne [4]
WAM: Moses, Marin, Piazon, Cuevas [4]
ST: Falcao, Lukaku, Ba, Feruz, Bamford [5]

STARTING XI
Cech, Azpilicueta, Dede, Luiz, Cole, Paulinho, Fellaini, Mata, Oscar, Hazard, Falcao
SECOND XI
McCarthy, Ivanovic, De Vrij, Cahill, Shaw, Mikel, Ramires, De Bruyne, Lampard, Moses, Lukaku
FRINGE/BIT-PART/RESERVES -still important though ;)
GK: Blackman
DEF: Terry, Kalas, Wallace, Kane, Omeruo, Bertrand, van Aanholt
MID: Romeu, McEachran, Piazon, Ake, Marin, Chalobah, Cuevas
FW: Ba, Feruz, Bamford

That would be a very strong squad. I think that Piazon, Feruz, Ake, Chalobah, Romeu and McEachran should be given opportunities in the first team every now and then. Kevin de Bruyne needs to come back to Chelsea. He cannot be sold. He has impressed at Werder Bremen, and could act as the immediate back-up to any one of the 3 positions along the attacking line in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Moses, Lukaku (I wanna see a lot more of him), Mikel and Ramires are all still important players, whilst Lampard    ( if he is given another contract [has he??]) can play a minimal part in the squad (such as Giggs and Scholes) and be there in a leadership role.

This is where it gets tricky. Terry is nowhere near as quick as he used to, and to be honest, he is getting on a bit, and the injury this year did not help. I still see him being one of the leaders of Chelsea, but he is no longer  a starting or even second choice centre back in my opinion. He could still play regularly, but not as regularly as we are used to. That means then, because he is not on the field as much, who do you appoint captain?? I suppose he could still stay captain, but in my opinion, Cech should take the position. Even if Terry stays captain, Cech would without a doubt be the main man on the pitch.

Wow! I think I'm done, hahaha. Also, I love that strong Belgian/Brazilian contingent at Chelsea. And in the next few years, we can also expect Courtois to join the lot. Oh speaking of him, he should spend another year on loan at Atletico Madrid. Please share with me your opinions regarding the direction of next season and the players you would like to see come in.

Paulinho and Fellaini? That's insane. KdB will be returning from loan and he deserves a chance to show what he's capable of. Fellaini would be a waste of money as a DM and Paulinho really hasn't impressed me when I've watched him.

I'm also curious as to why you think it necessary to ditch youth players like Ulises Davila. He's played well for Sabadell, he's talented and he's young. He probably won't ever make it at Chelsea, but there's literally no logical reason whatsoever to ditch him now.

Why on earth would we ship out Affane? He is 19 years old and by all accounts quite the talent. I'm also led to believe that KDB is better in a deeper position. Would be all for him staying at the club next season rather than going on loan but only if he is going to get game time.

As for terry, he seems to have fallen out of favour with our muppet of a manager but he is probably still our best CB and whether he sees his status as a guaranteed starter take a hit there is absolutely no way we should even consider letting him go. Dede is a good shout though as another CB but not sure why you even mentioned Ramos, we wouldn't stand a chance in hell of getting him to leave Madrid.

Lastly what is up with the poll? very odd asking who you wouldn't want to come

Okay fair enough. It is unlikely that both Fellaini and Paulinho would both come to Chelsea. Also, a fair comment was made about Davila, I really haven't seen enough of him to make an accurate judgement, same goes for Affane. And the reason I mentioned Ramos is because he was rumoured to come to Chelsea earlier in the year, whatever. Oh, and the reason I asked who don't you want to see, is because I thought I'd change it up. Sorry Sals....

I really don't think we need that many people, a striker yes and possibly Luke Shaw to come in if Ash will be leaving at the end of next season.

Another midfielder? With Rami/Romeu/Essien/Mikel/KDB/Luiz we should have that covered, if we end up selling Essien perhaps we could reinvest that but I'm not sure that Fellaini is the answer.

I'm not a fan of Dede or Paulinho. Everytime i have seen Paulinho he hasn't impressed me and i don't even know who Dede is. Both of these would probably cost us more than they are worth so i don't really see the point.

I just don't understand why we are always linked to Brazilian players these days, they are nowhere the best of their positions. Just because they are from Brazil it doesn't mean they are good. They must have the most overrated players out there right now.

I don't think that many players are needed, all the players out on loan are better than the players mentioned in my opinion, apart from Falcao that is.

I'm not a fan of Dede... i don't even know who Dede is.

Ah, but you're still not a fan of him? I guess you didn't know much of Oscar when we signed him too.

This is just plain ridiculous. Do you have some sort of irrational hatred of Brazilian players? First of all, no one is being to linked to anyone here, these are just the posters' opinions.

Just because they are from Brazil doesn't mean that they are good? No, but it also doesn't mean that we should ignore any defensive-related players solely because they are from Brazil. Let me guess, you want us to find a nice, young English player out there who's not overrated or expensive. I've never understood buying English players for the sake of them being English, unless it's to comply with the nationality rule in the team. We should buy the right player for us, first and foremost, be he from England, Brazil or Uzbekistan.

Both of these would probably cost us more than they are worth so i don't really see the point.

So you've never even heard of Dede, let alone watched him, nor was there any price mentioned in this thread, and yet you're jumping to (most likely) erroneous conclusions?

Sorry for my rant, I just wanted to point out some of the wrong things in this post. For the record I really don't want us to sign Dede or Paulinho, but to ignore them only because they are from Brazil is laughable.

Whatever drugs you're on, I don't want any. We only need a striker and left back in my opinion.

Anyone of Falcao, Cavani, Lewandowski or Suarez will be perfect. Shaw is currently the left back I have I'd have in mind. We have KDB, Lukaku and Chalobah coming back in the summer and each of them is good enough to challenge for a place in the first team.

i dont think the word 'spoilt' does this thread nearly enough justice.

absolutely ridiculous transfer wishes, even in football manager world

You mean the position he hates to play , but is forced to.

You mean the position that gained him widespread acclaim and has led to him having his best ever season?

Cech/Courtois

Azpilicueta/Wallace

Terry/Luiz

Cahill/Ivanovic

Cole/Bertrand

Mikel/Romeu/Chalobah

Ramires//McEachran

Hazard/Moses

Mata/Marin

Oscar/Piazon/De Bruyne

Ba/Lukaku/Torres

Sides Marin all we need is a striker, winger and manager because on paper that team should compete on all fronts

You mean the position that gained him widespread acclaim and has led to him having his best ever season?

only natural that goal scorers get more attention

the other part is debatable
