Posted April 13, 201311 yr go back 18 months (thats all) and we had the following players in the 1st team squad who are no longer with u anelka, kalou, alex, malouda (sort of), drogs, essien, mireles, bisingwa (thats 8) this year, lamps and JT pretty well second pick and get rotated out frequently (thats now 10), cole also rotating but he is staying rafa actually brought in to finsish the 'clear out' cos robbie wouldn't or couldn't................. this squad is 2-3 players short tho so expect more incoming roman nearly finished the refresh, its painful and unecessary hard on lamps and JT to be treated with disrespect in my view, we know neither are at peak any more but need a more graceful landing....................so hope they get a pick in a final (if we get to one) and go out on a high they deserve and so do the fans next season we start again..................wallace in, du-bruyen in, romelu back................
April 13, 201311 yr Neither will start tomorrow anyways. We're short more of than 2-3 players though, and this season has proved it. Would love to see 3 new starters (CB,DM,St) in the coming window with some of the loan players coming back to make up the numbers. Im not sure how many game we'll have next season, but if it's anything like this one we need to bolster the squad..
April 15, 201311 yr seeing the rumours that schurrle has pretty much signed for us, for a fee of around £20 million... what does anyone know of him? ive seen his stats and they dont look like those of a £20 million striker. 9 and 7 goals in his last 2 seasons. there must be something else to his game... but what is it? ive never really seen him play
April 15, 201311 yr I'd say this generation properly "ends" when JT and Ash leave, which may very well be at the end of next season. From then on it's up to the likes of Luiz and Mata to be the new leaders of the team.

April 15, 201311 yr Re Schurrle: Not as a traditional winger, but rather cutting in from the left. His main attributes seem to be his pace, dribbling and finishing ability. Can play anywhere across the front four and as a striker I believe.
April 15, 201311 yr And whoever our new CM, CF and CB are this summer. Now that I think about it Dortmund probably have every player that we need within their squad. Striker (Lewandowski), CM (Bender or Gundogan), and CB (Hummels or Subotic). I'd be over the moon if we can get any one of these players, except perhaps Hummels, but I definitely agree that those positions are the ones which need immediate strengthening over the summer. Latest rumour is, Barca are interested in Hummels. I think we should get Bender just to add to the pun-tastic names we all ready have in the squad.
April 15, 201311 yr He would actually be ideal for them. They mainly look for ball-playing centre backs, and Hummels' age will only suit them even more. Edited April 15, 201311 yr by Teritus
April 15, 201311 yr so as i understand it, we're about to fork out 20 mil on a player that plays in our strongest position? mata, hazard, oscar and moses not good enough as a trio? id much rather that 20 mil went towards a world class out and out striker/DM

I'd love Jurgen Klopp as our manager, would make a lot of sense, especially if he could bring a few of the above along too!
April 16, 201311 yr i know its a bit depressing knowing the first 'golden' era of the new chelsea fc have almost all left but we have to embrace it. i remember when Roman first took over when i was younger and i went into school gutted at the news that Jimmy Floyd was going to leave. in hindsight it was good he left - he was probably not good enough to play in Europe. Although its difficult we can't be sentimental if we want to be the biggest team in the world. Although JT/Frank/Ashley deserve to be treated as legends at this club we have to keep moving forward - Ferguson wouldn't keep players at United if they were past their sell by date
April 16, 201311 yr Ferguson wouldn't keep players at United if they were past their sell by date giggs? scholes?!
April 16, 201311 yr We are still short by at least 2 proven strikers and one or two proven defensive midfielders One or two wingers wouldn't go a miss as well, Marin doesnt look up to it Edited April 16, 201311 yr by Zola
