Holding on to a lead

Featured Replies

can anyone tell me how many times this season we've lost or drawn after being in front?  I'm convinced we back off once we get our noses in front and invite pressure on to the defence - not helped by FSW's inexplicable substitutions of course.

How to protect a lead? Throw on an extra defender would help, instead an inferior Yossi Benayoun. If you want  be fancy, put on a striker who would hold up the ball.Incompetence of the manager is why we have thrown away games so many games this season.

It seems that once we are in the lead, we often sit back and let the oppo attack....We should fight hard to increase the lead or bring on a good defender to bolster the penalty area.....I cant believe that players with this sort of experience for club and country make the same mistakes...Just lead losing cost us 2nd place in the prem

Too many times but I think part of the reason on occasions is due to a lack of leadership and/or experience on the pitch. I dare say we must have one of the youngest teams with regards to the average of the starting XI and that's not necessarily a bad thing but I think you need to have a couple of experienced and vocal players on the field to counter this.

A few years ago our team was filled with leaders/captains and I just think we need to make sure we have that presence on the field going forward.

Our greatest player for holding the ball and running down the clock, when we needed to, left last year and now plays for Galatasary

Sigh. So true. The way he would just run to the corner flag and hold off about 3 players at once whilst keeping the ball.

We have no players, no beasts like that in the team anymore.

Have a big enough squad to cope with 3 games a week without getting tired and losing concentration.
